I build a hut out of dead standing trees found on my 40 acre property. I thin out the forest to increase the health of all the trees, and make use of the material to build a really cool small hut out of a refurbished satellite dish. I use a bit of re-used tarp to cover the top of the small shelter.

This forest was planted nearly 40 years ago, and no trees were removed, so it's far too overgrown to be healthy. The best thing to do is remove half the trees and allow sunlight to help the forest recover and allow new trees to seed themselves.
The forest was originally designed to be planted quickly, but then harvested, just nothing happened.
I cut a bunch of trees to build the log cabin by stacking them vertically and make a rounded miniature, tiny house. I will include many features in this inside of this primitive structure like a wood burning stove, sleep space, and a wood floor.

These projects to me always seemed multifaceted; thinning out the forest of the dead trees/ brush so the healthy alive trees can live and thrive. Figuring out uses for the lumber to build structures and use some of the stuff you have been collecting/ salvaging and finding ways to repurpose them. Instead of being wasted and adding to the landfill. Making your wife happy that your using the stuff you've be hoarding and hopefully freeing up space in the garage, storage shed or house. Filming your builds, posting on RUclips so people can watch, enjoy, learn and inspire people to think out of the box and build something out of reclaimed martials. This your creative outlet and another source of income for you. Keep up the good work👍

Great idea! It has made me think about the bigger silo roofs and how massive they can be to do the same thing. Their roofs have panels where you could leave gaps in between them and still use the bubble roof material for natural lighting! Even a large old forgotten corn crib would be good! It already has heavy gauge wire walls for ya to get started on! Stay safe, healthy, and warm!

Great fun! I was thinking about your unused Satellite dish - how about a 2 person swing/hammock? Put 4 eyelets on the thing and rig it where they come together above the dish and then straight up to a stout overhanging limb. Better than a hammock as it would have one mounting point and would be free to swing in all directions. That would be fun!

It’s because you are creative. My husband hasn’t got a creative bone in his body. I’m the creative one. I am so happy creating. He just stares blankly. I made my first Tee-Pee with broom handles when I was 9. Stayed in it til it fell apart and my parents dragged me in. My dad made an RV out of a potato chip truck in the 70’s. Now everyone does it. He bartered, he traded, he was amazing.

What you need to build next is an amazing cabin for your daughter a play house cabin that is amazing as any of the others you have built. Yes, yes, yes, Kevin, round house's, round structures, is a smart way to build! Dealing with the elements (weather) from Mother Nature, round house's will allow the flow of elements to continue. Where as a square house is friction against the elements (weather) causing greater damage over time. I continuously tell my outdoorsy construction friends we need to build round house's! I wouldn't call it cheating by using a power pack units, it's more like helping out, not only making a more comfortable, convient way of enjoying your stay, it helps making it safe environment as well! Safety ain't no accident! Your spot on about how food seems to taste so much outdoors! It's incredible how awesome a bologna sandwich can taste so good on a deer hunt! Add a jalapeno pepper with it, delicious! Damn, making my mouth water! Kevin, you are blessed to have some incredible pecious people in your life! Saying hello to Don and your wife! 👋I'm a huge fan of your builds and I think the power pack units are an awesome accessory to your finished products as well as providing electricity to your power tools for the build, have you ever thought about sharing some of that power to your subscribers?
