With the build complete it is now time to strap Mr Hanky into the cockpit ready to lay down some times on the Tamiya DTO2 speed challenge leader board!
In this first run myself and Taylor ‘not so’ swift compete against each other using our first motor the 23 turn Tamiya Superstock RZ and a 2s 70c lipo.
It was all supposed to be so easy,but as usual things didn’t go quite to plan……technical issues,crashes,interruptions by motorists,and T shirt problems all raising their heads!🤣
But,Taylor ultimately managed to finally get a half decent time layed down for this shake down run!
Enjoy……and stay tuned for the next run on a 15turn motor!

It's about what I was expecting for that 23 turn motor to be fair.
Hopefully the 15 turn we are using next should liven it up a bit and bring the buggy to life!
And of course,with more power comes bigger crashes!!🤣😅😂

I really don't know how I managed that,it was like some kind of dark side force pulling the car towards the ditch!!
But that servo saver was being a real dick for our first couple of attempts,so that may have been the problem!
Either way,we had a good laugh, and we ain't last on the board either.

I am with Taylor, great shirt on the front but it is time for a new one! LOL! Not bad speeds and some hilarious crashes in there as well! Mr. Hanky may not be the best driver in the world but he can take a tumble! LOL!

As for the tee shirt,its like me,it's seen better days!
I heard it rip as I put it on that morning, but didn't know how bad it was until Taylor took great delight in pointing it out on camera!

Well,it certainly didn't go quite to plan but we got there in the end!
The kit suggested screws in the servo saver just didn't seem to cut it,so I have since made some changes to that.
Other than that,the buggy drove really nice.....more than can be said for the two muppets on the controller! 😂
I've just finished breaking in that 15 turn motor ready for the next run,and hope to get a bit higher up the board next week.

Ah mate,it really is a struggle sometimes.....but,we just about managed to hash a video together with this one,and got a place on the leaderboard.

Well that was a ton of fun lads, as it should be! You really need to get Mr Hanky on a high-speed driving training course judging by all those crashes, he keeps heading for the poop where he belongs!!! Teething problems always pop up on a first run but you got 'em sorted. Cool that you left all that footage in the video, it made for a very entertaining watch indeed!
But after all the mayhem and multiple walks of shame, you still came out with a very decent speed indeed. Good going boys, it can only get faster from here on in!

And what is it with that ditch that seems to attract rc cars?.....the same one we crashed the tt0poo into last year! Hmmmm something fishy going on here mate.
Our bad for using a freshly built car for a speed run....I should have tested it first to iron out any teething issues.
That servo saver was being a dick,so I've since changed to a different screw and washer and it seems to be OK now.
Not a bad time for the first run,but a long way off that Mark Bryan chappie..... Maybe we need to change our turd to a beaver instead??🤔💩

As for me regaining top spot, I'm not sure I can do it, my "faster" motor doesn't seem to want to go faster! I will have another go though. Fingers crossed. All the best my friend!

Yeah, nothing wrong with the gearbox buddy.....
But it was the steering servo that caused us so much grief on this one!
For some reason we just couldn't get a screw properly attached through the servo saver and onto the servo (we tried 4 different screws in total!!)
I've since changed the servo so hopefully the problem is now solved.
Looking forward to seeing how it does with the 15 turn motor next!

Yeah, we got there in the end despite some technical issues,and some awful driving! 😂
It was actually the very first run of this new build,so had a few teething problems /servo saver issues which I have now rectified.
This was the slowest of the three brushed motors that we will be running, next up is the 15 turn which I hope should go like s##t off a shovel! 💩
Mr Hanky the speed run poo was our lucky mascot from last years poor boys rc challenge..... It was only right to bring him back out again,although he's kinda heavy! 😂

Yeah, good bit of road this is.
We used this spot in last years tto2 speed challenge..... and it's actually where we used to rag rc cars about in the eighties as younglings! 😂
Could do without those grown ups in their big cars getting in the way though!! 😂

Yep,it's a nice little spot for the cars....one that i have been using for over 40 years now.
Unfortunately it's a lot busier now than it was back in the eighties! 🤣

Yes, we are running a 19T pinion in there currently.
We have a 15, and a 13 turn motor waiting for the next runs.....
Hope to get a bit further up the board, but no chance of catching Mark unfortunately!

Now that was funny.... James, I have tee's like that, nice and thin for a hot day with flow through holes.. Taylor, I think you were aiming at James (Hmm, that couldn't be)... Good speeds but I was hoping for more from that RZ motor... Why does it seem every time your on that road, somebody gravitates toward the ditch??? Awesome video guys, keep going mates!!!!!!!!

Its all for fun anyway. I can see my next run going wrong, the rear tyres iv fitted now are huge 😂 can see the thing flipping but should make a good video either way 😁👍🏻

I think with the spur and pinion limitations on this challenge, the larger wheels to up the gearing is an essential move to squeeze more out of the set up.
It's certainly an interesting little buggy for the challenge though,and I prefer driving it to the TTO2 any day.
