Its time that we install the LPG system
in this video I install an underslung gas tank, filling point and level indicator, we then prove the system with a tightness test and fill the tank for the first time something I was very nervous about as I had never undertook this kind of thing before watch the video and see how I get on
    Please Note:
I have had a couple of comments from sharp eyed viewers regarding the angle of the tank valves after the installation stating the angle didn't quite look right and this could cause me problems later with over filing and liquid entering the lines, After receiving these comments I was concerned to say the least so at the first opportunity I got under the van and checked the angle out and they were correct the tank is now set to 105 degrees as per the manufactures installation guidance,
I'm very grateful for all the comment I receive especially ones like these thank you for showing concern and making the effort to contact me and in the end keeping my family safe
A big thank you to Andy and Horrrk

Well done on having a plan and following it through - gas can be a sneaky bugger you seem to have covered everything regarding it 🎉

Is your tank in its final position? If it is you’ve installed it incorrectly, as it should be angled downwards in the valves pointing at around the 4 o'clock. In its current position you will draw liquid an not gas on a full tank o

I was wondering about the angle, too..I read that the gauge should be at around 105 degrees down from the top and yours looks to be above that.. 🤔

Morning gents following up on the point you raised we installed the tank to the instructions given by the lpg shop
      1. At filler valve the TOP indicator is on the top
2.The leveling bumps (or sticker) points up and the symbol is located at 3o’clock position
      3.The valves are located at 105 degree (3:30 o’clock)
So armed with that information again I've gone back and checked it and your right it's 10 degrees out well spotted and thank you 😊
I'm going to adjust it this week thanks again guys

Clicked on video as I am considering fitting a tank to my motorhome, but as soon as you spoke I recognised that Cumbrian accent ..... and lo and behold you are from the same town as my wife and her family, perhaps you may know some of them ..... Bell, Cass and Dustin are the close family.
Anyhow, because you are a Workington lad I will subscribe and watch your future adventures.

Hi Ed, I would need to have a look. To be honest it's been a while since we did that job
If memory serves me right, I used a 0.5 3core cable to extend the circuit. It's only an LED display

I realise I am viewing this well after the date but having installed a gas tank myself some advice was given about protecting the tank against road chips and general dirt and water. One piece of advice was to spray the tank with tar to protect it but I opted for a galvanised metal shield which is looking very well after 4 years. How have you got on with that problem and what have you done since.
Incidentally I installed a remote solenoid valve which shuts off the gas making life a bit easier inside.

How do you turn off the gas supply if going on a ferry or the chunnel

    • @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife
      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  2 года назад

Hi good question the tank has a main isolation tap ( identified at 2.33 minutes into the video) you just turn it off at this point.
I may fit a solenoid switch at some point and have a switch in the cab area just for convenience and so save crawling around on the floor🙂

Hi just a follow up I filled the tank again to capacity at the start of December for only the second time and it cut off as it should @ 80% fitting the tank has came into its own this summer with the shortage of gas bottle I'm positive I made the right decision, having a local pump is a bonus as I can fill up as and when I need to, last year I spent a grand total of £43 on gas for cooking and heating my water we spent 50 nights away so It works out at 86p per day to run its been defiantly worth fitting
