Glad I found this video. I actually stepped away from the oboe due to being told by a professional that I could never hope to be a good oboist. Kind of destroyed my will to even look at the instrument. Quit lessons with my teacher the following day.
I am finally practicing again after 5 years. Thanks for this video. It’s been quite a while.
I’m starting over from ground zero.. and it seems daunting honestly.

Much needed; thank you! So devastated I took a break (a really long break), but happy to get back into it .

I took a 15 year break in playing and coming back at it, I learned at last playing by sight and not writing in the notes at the bottom as a cheat ;)

I’m also taking a 15 year old break. What is your tip to come back?

Finally! Someone talking about long tones and scales and actually demonstrating it, with metronome and everything. Your content is very inspiring! I'm working on long tones and scales today (on the flute and bassoon).

Wow! Thank you for this video! It's so inspirational because I don't know WHERE to BEGIN starting back playing again. With studying FOREVER for my music therapy boards and giving my all to my students and administration, I just NEVER have the time or energy to start back playing. Oh, the frustration....I will also transfer my oboe skills to my piano and guitar skills....Thank you very much! Musical Blessings!

Bert Lucarelli told me that if you know you have to take a break, make sure you have a couple good reeds to come back to.

marvelous. I am Dutch en playing the oboe for quite some time now, but I'm still learning. It is a bit difficult to follow your video's because my english isn't that good that I known what all the words mean.

A few months ago I had a inflamed nerve in my right arm, and I couldn't play oboe. It was the hardest two weeks of my life. This is very helpful next if something similar happened.

Cannot afford an oboe yet. Have been imagining playing while trying to relearn how to sightread. Wonder if it will actually help?

Between having Fibromyalgia, and dealing with the needs of my father who has been in and out of hospital after his stroke, my Flute playing had been so stop-start in recent months....
