As much as Billie Whitelaw played the original voice of Augrah amazingly ( she also played the Krays mother in the 1990 film ) the actress that voices this Augrah does a brilliant job with the character 👍🏼

This show was beyond extraordinary. As a fan of so many involved I have so much to say including thank you for this beautiful show. It was full of so many messages that needed to be heard. I am only glad it had an actual ending (albeit a painful one yet like life in its truth) although the second season was already being written and all the expensive props and puppets already made from the first season. The puppet masters and voice actors and craftspeople had found their stride and season 2 looked to go smoothly. I hope one day this project will be picked up again. Until that day thank you for The Dark Crystal- it has a place in my heart forever.
I laughed so hard when Aughra gave all of them titles Like Brave Rian and Gentle Deet but Gurjin is just Gurjin. And she called Seladon " Loyal Seladon" even though she's everything but Loyal to her people. I couldn't stand her.
I see Seladon as an example of how loyalty isn't always good. She was mindlessly loyal to the status quo, specifically the Skeksis Lords and look where it got her.
Xenolyth that’s true. At least Brea And Seladon finally healed their relation. Just like Tavra said: the bonds of sisterhood can be tested, but never broken.
Overall the Dark Crystal is a absolutely wonderful story. One thing about the whole entire story (series, original movie, and books) is how like our world, there is a natural balance and connection with all living things whether it be plants or animals. Some may say that I'm looking too deep into it but I was actually raised by this lifestyle and my parents even raised me with a Unaterian view. While I am pagan and there's a lot of connections I can make with that I still see things in a universal standpoint. But religion is not the point that I'm making with the Dark Crystal. It's how no matter what you believe in or even possibly what creature you are. We are all connected in one infinite circle with life, death, love, hate, so many other things that keep our souls intact.
It's a shame that this show got cancelled when it did. It deserves a second season, and I think you will all agree when I say we want to see where the story goes. Edit: Right now, there's a petition to get this show renewed.
IcyEli Bananer. This kind of makes reference to shamans or religious members connected to nature with the dancing and chanting. It is religiously powerful because it shows the connection of nature and the spirit world. In this case, the Dreamspace
This show was great, really made me feel strong emotion. Especially the scene where Seladon arrives to talk to the Skeksis, thinking she will wisely establish peace as the All Maudra. But then the Skeksis cruelly mock her and ruin every single thing she trusted and believed in. It's so heartbreaking

I don’t get how nobody has realized this yet but Brea is actually Kira’s mother. If you go to the episode titled “prophets don’t know everything” Deet gets her second vision from the sanctuary tree. In this vision you see brea dressed in scarves and running away with baby Kira.
I'm just curious now as to who the father is. In the original movie, Kira looks very much Vapran, but I don't know what cross-clan childlings look like. It could be Rian, but Jen is very Stonewood looking. His shirt even had the Stonewood emblem on it. Rian could be the father of both, but that would get hairy with Jen and Kira marrying and rebuilding the Gelfling race.
Heroica Knight someone mentions that they thought Kira’s father may have been Rikri the douson because if you watch the part where Brea requests going to the Circle of the Sun he’s reluctant at first but when she says if you’re too scared he agrees as if he’s trying to impress her!! I know I spelled his name wrong but they definitely had a thing going in the brief time they were together he gave his necklace to her and he said that the most beautiful desert flowers were also the most dangerous which to me sounds like he had feelings for her
@@lisadooley3872 I totally see where you're coming from. I just imagine Rey'kr being a lot older than Brea. Not that that necessarily matters. Again though, that plays a lot on Gelfling genetics. A childling born to parents with such differing skin tones shouldn't be as light as Kira is. Same goes for Jen I know, but still...
What a thing it would be if as a species we ditched the dark and dangerous religions of old and embraced a shamanism like this. A deep love and reverence for the land, sky and sea. Cherishing something that we can see, feel, and touch and, one that actually has consequence on our lives through our actions. In doing so we'd be better off as one people and not the fractured waring clans we are now. Ahhh, the distant dream of madman! Think I need to go hug a tree.
You know, there is a certain level of goosebumps where it gets so extreme you literally don't know what's happening to your body, well I felt that only twice, this scene and Endgame final battle, that is impressive that my goosebumps find this scene worthy of something like Endgame
I love Aughra. I love this scene. I love this series and everything about the Dark Crystal. Always was one of my favorite fantasy movies as a child anyway and I own a DVD. Thank you Mr. Henson. We can’t thank you enough, actually, for your brilliant masterpiece!
One of the best aspects of this show was how alive everything felt. Aughra in this scene looks and feels like a real living being. It is truly sad that this show only got one season, it was an experience I’ll always cherish
In Indonesia, among all the gods, there is a fat ugly character called Semar, who looks like an old buffoon but is secretly higher and wiser than all the gods, the embodiment of the land and Supreme Being. Aughra reminds me of this, and I wonder if other countries have similar legendary figures.

Kari Gordon there is actually a theory that Kylan might be Kiras father
Plot Twist: Kira's mother is Seladon.
Jim Henson would be proud
Yeah, I'm definitely rewatching this now
This scene foreshadowed the original movie's ending climax.
It would be wonderful if more people made this connection.
I'm a Buddhist and i relate to this scene
I did detected shamanic elements in the scene and can see how powerful it’s can be
Isn't Shamansim OLDER then those dark and dangerous religions?
Short answer is yes look for spirit science and then minute faith there videos that can explain many religions
I like when Sheladon comes in and Aughra kicks her out 😁😁
I'm so salty this didn't get a second season
You know, there is a certain level of goosebumps where it gets so extreme you literally don't know what's happening to your body, well I felt that only twice, this scene and Endgame final battle, that is impressive that my goosebumps find this scene worthy of something like Endgame
is this what it looks like when Grandma tries to get into the family Zoom Call?
Oh my gosh 🤣
I love Aughra. I love this scene. I love this series and everything about the Dark Crystal. Always was one of my favorite fantasy movies as a child anyway and I own a DVD. Thank you Mr. Henson. We can’t thank you enough, actually, for your brilliant masterpiece!
I own it on blu-ray and UltraHD 4K BD myself and have the graphic novel prequels and books too and this is an excellent series.
Imagine if all humans of the world joined in prayer like this?
Best serie of the year? No doubt!
they canceled this and yet were getting a second season of Velma? the Gods have not only Abandoned us but Spit on us as well
This show is a Masterpiece I loved the movie was I was a kid in the 80s I've always loved Jim Hensons work
you go Aughra!
She’s still got it ^-^
@@liyahsmith606 yeah
@Leo Jansen yep
One of the best aspects of this show was how alive everything felt. Aughra in this scene looks and feels like a real living being. It is truly sad that this show only got one season, it was an experience I’ll always cherish
It just sucks so bad that you know despite all their efforts, the gelflings still lose.
I really really wish this wasn’t canceled.
Season 2 probably would've given us more hope for sure!
Love this show
Hard to believe that this is basically an Alien occupation story lol
I want the rest of this scene where all maudras like “we will stand against the skeksis!!!” epic moment
Yeah, it's a great scene.
Every time they said "Glaive" all I could think about was the Glaive from Krull lol
zzzombie888 to be fair, neither are examples of an actual glaive, but who cares? This show rocks!
@@stingerjohnny9951 A glaive is a spear. A plow arm weapon.
Also anyone sees an Avatar (both Airbender show and cameron) vibe here?
It did remind me of the scene healing Grace a bit. Love a good ritual trance scene.
You got it backwards my dude
@@Special_Tactics_Force_Unit
You too think this scene is like from both Avatars?
I hope to age like mother augra one day xD
In Indonesia, among all the gods, there is a fat ugly character called Semar, who looks like an old buffoon but is secretly higher and wiser than all the gods, the embodiment of the land and Supreme Being. Aughra reminds me of this, and I wonder if other countries have similar legendary figures.
