For those wondering if we are eating pork the answer is absolutely not. The meat was all made up of beef. Please read before commenting, Thank you!
I meant no offense, was concerned that you might go looking for a better Kota without knowing the mystery meats usually contain pork. But if course, I should have known you would have checked
@@stephaniewhitaker5253 We understand, thanks for your concern. We’re pinning this comment so people wont have to wonder.
@@stephaniewhitaker5253 so was I. Glad it was beef.
I don't care what anyone else eats. I just have 1 question for my fellow South Africans in the comments, have you ever seen beef vienna sausages? I've only ever seen them at Woolworths & you can bet a spot in the hood ain't buying them from there, otherwise those prices would be doubled. Maybe if you said chicken I would understand. Beef tho? Ok.
@@HiddenKeyElement i saw beef russians and polony are available through halaal and kosher butchers. And very reasonable. I agree, Woolies will rob you blind for the same thing 😂
best kota gauteng province, best bunny chow kwa-zulu natal, best Gatsby Western Cape
Good to know
Couldn't agree more
Oh please, Gauteng generally makes terrible Kotas. Good Kotas are in Seshego Limpopo.
@@bohlalenchabeleng1370Lol, how can GP have terrible kota when it started here though? You must have not had the Jozi Kota from Kota Joe.
@@bohlalenchabeleng1370 Gauteng birthed amaKota what nyoape are u smoking 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
KOTA is so good there is a "KOTA Festival" were a lot of people showcase their different styles of preparing it
Wow, that’s cool
Skopas is a South African thing that only we get. No matter how fresh you get them if you not South African you won't get it😅.
That's true 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
That's true 👍 💯 😄
😂😅😂😂😂 I sometimes see my girl buying it many times, and I'm like what the hell is in there that you enjoy so much? Believe me, eating them from someone you asked, it is more better than buying the whole pack yourself.
My guy is always the happiest when he sees food😂😂❤
😂😂😂 so true
i can never get used to that being called a kota in Pretoria we call it Spatlo
Kota is Zulu
I must say, the Kota you're eating appears absolutely delicious! Y'all are genuinely making me famished. 🥵😋
The Kota holds a position of utmost popularity among the younger generation in our country, serving as our South African equivalent to the classic American "Grilled cheese."
Our next popular dishes are Iskopo and Inqina. I highly recommend that you give them a try as well. Shalom! 😊❤
Thanks for the recommendation and it was delicious 😂
Atchaar is like 4 points on its own 😂😂😂😂
Yes the one we tried in Cape Town was yummy.
Heart attack! The gentlemen on the right, is right. Everything is better with atjar. Pap, bread, rice.
Thanks for watching
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE My pleasure!
Y'all should "brown dash" (street snack) and flame grilled chicken gizzards in a stick(izingingila)❤ and also phuthu namasi (pap and sour milk) make sure you get u phuthu not sticky pap
Thanks for the recommendations
I told myself I'll subscribe once I see you guys doing a Kota video and I hit that notification button as well.
Love Your Content ❤
Welcome to the family!
It is so easy to get addicted to Kota😂😂😂
We can see why.
I don't blame you for not liking Maskopas/Skopas, I don't like nor enjoy those corn snacks 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
mixing with local content creators is something i can respect highly i have watched a lot of your videos of your time in my beautiful country and all I can say is thank you
We really appreciate your support
You can never go wrong with a Kota😊
Agreed
Congratulations to the newlyweds! 🥂
Great video, Bruh, as usual
Thank you
Your child looks disciplined. I had a displeasure of two parents visiting here with a toddler who drove me crazy. He cried at a whim and the parents would not discipline him. The last straw came when he took a magazine - a collector's item - and tore it. When I took it away from him, he started crying and throwing tantrums, instead of disciplining him, his parents consoled him. They are a nice couple but they have a child from hell, and its all thanks to their lack of disciplining skills.
She fussed sometimes but she’s still a baby so it’s usually because she’s tired or hungry.
Falling in love with this channel ❤😅
We’re really glad you enjoy our channel, thanks for watching?
Never had a Kota, seeing your hubby dig into that, a must try for me now. Know cosmo city very well. Thanks guys that looked delicious.
Our pleasure!
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE so now I dare you'll to eat a skop, AKA sheep or goats head, traditional South African dish . You can find it at cosmo city too delicious. Must try
Nice to see you guys getting immersed in local life.
Try out other street foods. Ask your friends to take you to where you can get liver (Isibindi),heart and meat head. All served with pap and gravy on some
Shalom
Thanks for the tips!
❤️
The guy seems like he doesn't know kasi well. For better experience, he should go to nearby taxi ranks or camps, there you will get everything more😋😋😋😋😋.
Disco pops!!!
Yall still haven't gotten the original one. Come to Pitori to get some real Sphatlho(kota), where it originates from, johburg ain't got shit on Pitori. Lol but S/O
Hahaha this couldn't be further from the truth🙈
😂😂😂
I completely disagree about Pretoria kotas.
@@jonasmaseko9194You know PTA people...ai!
@@_theerealnono_7694 Pitori mense never want to be left out of any conversation😅
that looks great
It was!
Those Kotas look fire and delicious!
They were very good.
Looool 😂😂😂its how u ripped the plastic for me
😂😂😂
😂😂my OCD when he did that... Wawas the reason? But he handled it pretty well
Another one of my favorite video's
🥰🥰 thank you
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE your welcome
I think you should try Pop Shots and Go-Slos
Amaskopas ❤😂 amakip-kip😊
Yoh kanti is this how we look when we eat kota bathong
I'm craving one now 🤤😅
Once u have Kota u will be full the whole day...All in one in the township can be breakfast, lunch or even supper😂😂
Agreed 😂
Very true when I don't feel like cooking, Kota does it for me
now this ke sphatlho, proper kota, just needs the garlic atchar and it will be complete. even the chips look like proper slap chips. wash it down with some iron brew or sprite and sleep the whole day.
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for watching
The o in Kota is pronounced the same as in the Spanish word 'hola'. It's a play on 'quarter', ie 'quarter loaf'
👍🏾
If you want to try a real (and award winning) bunny chow, try Lugz cnr Witkoppen & Market near Fourways. Both the beef & chicken are excellent & they make fantastic potato samoosas
No no no no, have to come to Durban for Bunny chow
@@juciyjcurtis7938 The owners are from Durban. Lugz refers to the lagoon
Thanks for the recommendation
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE You are very welcome
@@stephaniewhitaker5253 still won't be the same. No unsliced BB bread in Gauteng and the spice quality is definitely not the same.
And kip kips 😂
😂😂
You are hooked, you will want more I promise you that.
I have been here (jhb) since 2006 Kota is no way close to bunny chow I feel its hyped its just bread with chips and egg, sausage and extras
Probably lol
@@bonganibophela2819 Eating Kota is an event, it needs a date a few friends then you all bite and get surprised togetter with wonder "I so missed this, yoooooo!"
Skoppas are also know as disco pops because of it's different colors
I knew I recognized the place
hey guys isn't this also called a spatdla (sp)? similar to bunny chow, not curry but egg polony (bolony) russians and chips (crisps)
Not sure
Can we have the location for the Kota joint yoh it looks delish 😭
Not sure 😂😂😂 Cosmo City somewhere
My man licking his fingers like crazy 😂😂😂
Eish lol fr😭😅
😂😂😂
1st thing I did when I moved to Jozi from Cape Town was to get a Kota and compared to a Gatsby is hard to choose a favourite
I’m sure it is
U making me crave kota
Sorry😂
Come to Tembisab We have the best kotas!
Thanks for watching
Going hard😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂
Try hunger buster PTA Sunnyside ❤
Cape Town version of Kota is called Gatsby
Quarter of unsliced bread and vat vat (AKA Quarter) Started of at just Quarter of unsliced bread and chips. Then artchaar was added, then french polony, then russian, the vienna, then special polony, then cheese. New editions include eggs, lettuce & patties (Hate these). Kota is just a South African way of pronouncing "Quarter". It also plays off on the Tswana word "Kota" which means Wood/plank. But, colloquially used to "hard" "great".
Thanks for the info
Di Skopas (Disco pops)
I haven't eaten a Kota before, but I do believe Russian sausages & polony have pork in them which I think you mentioned before that you don't eat. Hopefull you got kosher ones which are made of beef.
It was actually beef
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE That's great. I was concerned that if you went looking for another one it might have pork in
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFEOooh ok but what is the CASING made out of?? 😢
Pork sausages are very rare in SA. Most people here eat beef sausages and the casings are synthetic.
We have a very large beef and lamb/mutton eating population.
Nice 😅
I knew this is Cosmo City 😅
White jacket where are you from? Kota is Kota they are all the same.
My African American brother and sister I'm proud of you very humble and respectful.
❤❤
Thanks so much
chila and matevhu are a great couple always prank each other how did you meet them
Through a mutual friend
Nice enjoy our beautiful country with your family
So you telling me that for $10 you get a burger, fries and drink. Here is South Africa that is a R188 which is enough to feed 4 people if you going to get takeaways. Damn
Yeah, that’s crazy
Next yall need to get an authentic bunny from Durban!
Hopefully soon
No. It's not the person that made it. It's the Maskopas family. 😂😂😂😂 It's that BAD!!!!
Dang😂😂😂
The Americans are going in boy😂💯
😂😂😂
I'm hungry
Us too 😂😂😂
You need to try the Jozi Kota from Kota Joe next. I promise you, you'll love it...the source is to die for.
Yeah they need to check Kota Joe out.
Thank you recommendation.
🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪💯💯💯
You can never go wrong with Kasie (ghetto) kota shem...
Absolutely
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Actually Cape Town did not produce this until recently.
I know matevhu from south African idols, she's a very good singer....I also don't like skopas popcorn
yeah nowadays the skopas they is too stale, you break your jaw trying to chew them
Absolutely
That's Matevhu? I didn't recognize her.
i just figured that a 'kota' is slang for a quarter
It is
The o in Kota is pronounced the same as in 'hola'
Thanks for the info
This is a kasi fix , if you want the real deal buy from a South African native! Cosmo City is just another Zimbabwe in South Africa
This is a proudly South African kasi meal originally from Petori!
Its called Spatlo in Pretoria
Thanks for the info.
😭 5:52 crunchy skopas? where? They're supposed to be soft. You know they're stale when they harden
😂😂😂
Uyazi kuya shaya uma you take out le russian uyilume yodwa
Next time
Skopas are snacks you can't have while eating
Ok
Kota ASMR
😂 pretty much
Where the baby at and her kota😂
She had her own Kota in Cape Town but this time we fed her something healthier before we had the Kota 😂😂😂
Scopas hey😂😂😂😂😂always ask for the fresh ones . The old ones are definitely not flavourful .
😂😂
*goes to Cosmo*
Are you guys going to leave without visiting the most beautiful city in South africa, Mpumalanga???
We still have so many places to see. We will have to make another trip to see everything.
Where did you guys find this couple 🙄…. Ba mbora
🤔
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFElol didn’t mean to come across rude but they didn’t give me the vibe that us South Africans have, didn’t explain the Kota (sphatlho) in Pretoria …
Give us something man 😂😂
Anyway I enjoyed watching the content about South Africa I’m from Pretoria by the way
@@bontlemnguni2430 lol I think we all got caught up in eating. We were just hungry 😂😂😂
Lol funny this is that there is a fried chicken version in KFC here in South Africa🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Those skopas are good on an empty stomach. Too much iron and sugar. Eating it with spicy oily food kind of defeats the iron-sugar corn digestion 😅
Good to know!
Was wondering why I hadn't heard of Kota....I live in Durban. When I googled they said Kota to Jhb is like the Bunny Chow to Durban.
Lol, I'm dead. 😂😂😂😂😂
Nope. Definitely not like bunny chow.
Nope inspired by the Bunny Chow...totally different
@@motheomorakile1099 you have misunderstood me. I can see it is not like our bunny chow but saying JHB is known for the Kota and Dbn for the Bunny Chow
@@ShaqleeToine10.02 yes...was definitely not saying it was like the bunny chow...just saying it is a JHB thing and the bunny chow is a DBN thing
Come 2 durban and ear a reall mutton bunny.
I really thought there is Kota on every country😂😂😂, yall are missing out ey
We are 😂😂
Why does those Kotas have so many russians.
That’s how they make them
It's probably the option they chose.
Who the wow recommended maskopas????😮
was wondering the same. I think the last time I ate it was when I was a kid and even then it was awful
@@PillDex 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Surprised you didn’t choke… you needed some Coke 😂 (aka cola)
😂😂😂
Lovely video but please don't call our townships hood and especially the word Ghetto 😅
Thanks for watching.
Please do not try a bunny chow in jozi. Wait till you come to KZN
Hopefully we can try bunny chow in Durban soon
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE I can't wait for you guys to visit the Zulu kingdom. 🇿🇦😎
I thought it was just me that hates skopas
😂😂😂
Lmao wow why would url make then eat that.make all of us south africans look bad😂its dry and only starch haai
Your guests seem to be shy and ama kipkip are better when they actually soft
I think it’s hard to tell since we were all so busy chewing 😂😂😂
A poor man's meal!🆒😎👍! But t is good! Now for the equivalent meal. A Gatsby in Capetown!
A meal is a meal. Don't attach poverty to food to look superior
Absolutely
We dont call it hoods and ghettos like in America
The locals we have come across do.
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFEThey prefer to use it but in general we dont call it that way
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFEso this is the second comment where some calls this out because the word Ghetto is associated with unrefined, low class, cheap or inferior... However that's the opposite when you come to townships, there people who are well off in those locations. Developed infrastructure and so on. We don't even call the poorest townships "the ghetto" hence think some people are offended. 😂Oh and hood is frequently used by us the new generation, not necessarily to describe how a particular place as unsafe but it's a "cool" word we use. I can say "oh I know her from my hood" whilst I live in Sandton
I have heard you saying no pork. Unless your Russians and polony was made of beef,...... 😢
They were beef
It's that hint of questionable hygiene, I'm telling you!
😳😳
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE South Africans know what I'm referring to. It is usually the places that look unhygienic that make the best kotas.
@@correntkatcorrentinfo6644 😂😂😂
Wait what's that meat? Sausage... Pork? 😢 Oh beef... But what's the casing made out of?? Also careful eating at places where they also cook pork... always using the same skillet etc😢
Oooh also you not to fellowship with those that do not do the WILL of your ABBA or even eat with them... Oh but wait is this like considered for your work/ business?
Please read Matthew 9:10/13 before judging and also it was all beef. Also you don’t know this couple so how could you say they are not doing the will of Abba?
Thank you for setting such a disrespectful judgemental comment straight- some people though
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE I said.. oh beef... And we ARE to judge (we are to judge by Yah's Laws statues and commandments! How else? ) for how can we do for the world if not our selfs.. Yahudah tribe is to RULE .. hmm how can you rule if you don't JUDGE. Also we are to admonish one another DAILY!
Oh and I left out a part was to remember if necessary.. and then the fellowship etc...but you didn't introduce them in the way for an ach & achoti so I wasn't sure.. But since you didn't say it in your reply I'm guessing that they are not
Why so angry(you'll remember now when it's applicable ... It's business right... SO what's that casing made out of? 🤨
@jewelniles4041 We did not say not to judge. We know that we are to judge righteously which is why I said what I said. You do not know the situation, so how could you claim to be judging righteously. Lastly, we are not coming at you with anger, but clearly you are with that “It’s just business right” comment. You don’t know what you are talking about. Also, if you’re going to teach the word of Yah, you should start coming with scriptures and not your opinion. Have a blessed day.
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE your comment said quote "... read Mat (scrip) before judging..." and this comment shows that you really didn't actually read my what I said.. It's not my opinion it's TMH'S so you need to listen.. You guys are not humble... Unsubscribing and blocking
Please don't eat all Russians, they may come for us.
I hate those thing their never nice stay away
