Mama's got a new favorite video. loved that! And guess what, I'm in Colorado and your twin brother has on those same pajama bottoms. I wonder when mamas stop buying their kids matching jammies?
Hey Mama Holmes, Croc's headquarters are here in Colorado just in case Sam's brother needs some matching Crocs?? I've been enjoying Sam's videos from Colorado for years!
@@billmoxon9506 They already having matching "crocs",🤣actually some knockoffs. We're a croc lov'n family but the soles wear out so fast we started opting for knockoffs sometimes.
Ok, update. I've taken and passed asa101, I'm joining a boat club so I can start getting time on the water. So in about a year I'll take 103 and 104. If anyone out there is thinking about Learning to sail, do it. It's a lot of fun.
Travesty borne of ignorance. Disrespectful to fly the flag of a sovereign country beneath that of another. What's this world coming to that so few care.
Sailing into the Port of Porto with a 30 degree heel and in your pajama bottoms too. Now that is the Sam Holmes, I've come to know arriving style. Gastronomic distress- kinda like... sea sickness is sorta. A lovely first mate for date adventures. Smooth seas ahead for you & Pickle. Jibsea- another You-Tuber I follow is in your area right about now. Be on the lookout for them & those orcas as you both head to the Med.
Great episode, nice to see you getting some exploring time. Cool mod to the dodger windows, looks great. Love it when your frequent visitor drops in on an episode!
You have such a strong resilient and fearless personality. Sailing is not for the faint hearted, especially solo. I've always been too squeamish to sail.
Port and cheese, can’t beat it. Those traditional port carrying traditional sailboats looked very interesting, like to see them sailing sometime! Happy southwards, SkipRay.
I did that same trip in January, was much colder. Once we rounded Cape Finistre, it was great. However you have to watch out for the fishing boats, some times they transit at night with nobody on watch, a very dangerous practice. oh and all the fishing gear. We stayed in the same marina outside Porto, it was easy to get the bus right out side the marina directly into the heart of he old town, near the clock tower.
Porto is wonderful, I stayed at Leixoes Marina, was able to get under the Pont de Luis bridge in my Bowman 26 at low water, there's vids of it on my channel...
If you're headed toward Gibralter, Sam, be aware that playful orcas are damaging boats along the Iberian Peninsula. This seems to be a new behavioural interaction from these whales, at least this pod that lives there. Play safe. Greg 🍁
Just one qustiom. When are you going to have enough courage and propose to this girt? The way she looks at you and the fact she loves sailing… Don’t wait! Don’t lose her!!!!!
WOW! So incredibly beautiful! Your friend is such a cool chick. What a great person she is too. And quite a beautiful young lady, if I may say so. As I always say to you Sam, you are the man and you are livin the life!
I can still hear some alarm sound at around 1:30. Is that your anchor alarm still or was that from the neighbors? And the voice over is quite good btw.
Somebody built a sailboat out of wine corks ( in the US) and got the portuguese cork industry to sponsor him sailing it down the Duoro. I think it went through those locks. It was quite a trip to get it up the river to the starting point involving several trucks.
That's a good question. So much depends on the waters you are in. Generally, bottoms get fouled quicker in warmer waters but it also depends on what may be in the water - for instance, sewerage or fertilizers in the water can rapidly increase growth. Conversely, if you go up river into predominantly fresh water, all the salt water based growth can simply drop off.

Pajama's are at 6:11 for those interested 😍
Gotta love mamma holmes 😂

One of your great videos. Your first mate is bringing some class to sailing attire.

It warmed my heart to see the norwegian flag flying on «Pickles» 😀 You have the best shipmate now, Sam

I love the sounds the hull makes cutting through the water
The water gets bluer and bluer as you go south. That's more my style- sandal sailing! Even the Herring seems happier!

Great video, Sam, you make everything look so easy. Just when you think your videos can’t get any better - Helene makes a lovely sailing companion.
Really loving your travels Sam. I really look forward to you posting the latest. Keep up the amazing adventures!
Sam I watch a lot of sailing channels, but yours is the best by far. I look forward to seeing every episode.
Port and cheese, can’t beat it. Those traditional port carrying traditional sailboats looked very interesting, like to see them sailing sometime! Happy southwards, SkipRay.

Loved listening to the wind and waves from 1:50-4:26
Keep the girl, Sam.... Another great video.
when sam is heeling over, it looks like he's in an evil lair from the original batman tv series. LOL
She's adorable, Sam.

It takes a real man to put a lady in crocs ngl ...
What a crew upgrade!
Lovely to see a fellow sailor bossing it whilst wearing pyjamas... but I'm normally in my dressing gown and slippers to!
It tastes "pretty alright"! You philistine! You just need more.

I was lucky to sail my mates boat Sv Stauner up there last year awesome !!!
Great content!👍
Just one qustiom. When are you going to have enough courage and propose to this girt? The way she looks at you and the fact she loves sailing… Don’t wait! Don’t lose her!!!!!
Thanks Sam, great video - your new
microphone sounds much better...
I guess the ultrasound thingy must not bother the marine life after all if the dolphins are still chilling in your bow wave!
Hey Sam. Loving it. How about a single-handed docking master class video? Go on…. You know you want to!
A girl in every port. He’s the man!
Haha Sam, you mean gastrological distress. Gastronomic distress sounds like a Gordon Ramsay show. Welcome to Portugal!
Sam loves the lady’s what a guy 👊🏽
What is the fastest you have ever done in the Ranger?
A cool place you both went to.
The black border on the dodger windows looks fantastic.
WOW! So incredibly beautiful! Your friend is such a cool chick. What a great person she is too. And quite a beautiful young lady, if I may say so.
As I always say to you Sam, you are the man and you are livin the life!
Always have bagels when sailing through locks 😂

254th subscriber LIKE clicked; 1,600th desktop studio tag-along view happening now. 12:46 to 13:19 - looking good.
Hey Sam, are you going to be in Lisbon?
Welcome to Portugal!
What kind of fish was that? Dolphin? The sunset was gorgeous ✌️
They were Dolphin, but not Dolphinfish.
You are in my new country Portugal. Stay a while.
😅 funny Sam lol got to love the crocs
6:35 what's the spool of webbing behind you used for? And how much? Thanks.
I think it may be for a stern tie (but then, it would normally be line, not webbjng).
Very good life 🤩
Nice job on the windows
I'm waiting for you in Vilamoura Sam !!!
You're in my born City!!! Enjoy it!!

What I love about him is that he doesn't have a million dollar sail boat he works with what he has and you can tell his passion for sailing
Living the dream bud.
How often do you clean the bottom of your boat?
That's a good question. So much depends on the waters you are in. Generally, bottoms get fouled quicker in warmer waters but it also depends on what may be in the water - for instance, sewerage or fertilizers in the water can rapidly increase growth. YOu guys are so cute together!
Not a chance I could set foot on that bridge metal footbridge. Just looking at the video gives me really bad vertigo.
i'm wondering what sam think about all these orca attack on sailboat we keep hearing about?
Whats the Norwegian flag under the Portuguese one for?
Out of respect for his shipmate Annalina, who hails from Norway. She joins him from time to time.
@@B_Ruphe alright cool
I will be in Porto in September I'm extremely excited
