    Sam!! Glad you got your new mounts. Yep from the looks of the mounts on that motor. They look like Mercruiser mounts and not OEM Yanmar mounts. Give us a shout with measurements on your hold down bolts (center to center) and we'll get you setup!! Cheers!

    Hey Sam, just now saw this wish I’d be seen it sooner, I replaced the damper plate in my transmission on my 1967 Morgan 34
    I was able to unbolt my prop shaft, and push it back and out of the way so that my transmission could come out, no water came in aside from the normal stuffing box leaks. Hope this helps, and as far as propping up your motor, you can put a board under your engine and use your halyard to lift it up, a little sketchy, not ideal but right up your alley

    Great video. We are in Salvador, Brazil, sailed from Mindelo, Cape Verde, being a good stop. You are going to regret not crossing the equator, respectfully suggesting an early January departure from Mindelo, making it to Salvador in time for Carnival in February. You might consider visiting the protected anchorage at Baia Do Aratu (S12.47, W38.27), approximately 10nm north of Salvador in the Bay of All Saints, Bahia, Brazil. It is shaped like a bowl, surrounded by low-lying hills, virtually undeveloped, probably the most protected anchorage we have ever been in, and the marina's community is safe.

    Nicely done. Now I'm hoping that Oceanic has the low mount ones for Yanmars. On the smaller models I've never installed the type they send. I used to be the Yanmar distributor for Western Canada. So rather surprised. Boat does not have to come out of the water. Just unhook the coupling. those dang air bag pumpy things might be interesting. but easy to lever it up too.

    • @tonymcbride3428
      @tonymcbride3428 Месяц назад

      I replaced the mounts in the water. It was quite simple to do.
      Remove all four lock nuts. Raise the engine as high as it will go on three of the mounts using the adjustment nuts. You should then be able detach the fourth mount and slide it out of position, with a little jiggling perhaps. If not, drop the adjustment nut down a little on the diagonally opposed mount. This will allow you to tilt the engine and give you the clearance you need.
      Just be careful that you don''t jam the shaft up against the shaft tube. You don't want to damage the shaft.

    Yes Sam- those new motor mounts look too big for that space.
    Beefy motor mounts- just not the right application for your engine.
    Take some photos, grab some dimensions off the old ones- see what Oceanic Innovations has to say.
    Custom built for your engine only- they might not even make that type of mount anymore?
    I wouldn't wait too long however in replacing them- on the hard. By the time you get to that marina in Malta,
    Oceanic Innovations could send replacements to you and pick up these mounts in return all in one go?
    They get their products back and you get the product you need that fits your engine space limitations.
