    Fun fact. The slottsholmen hotel right next to the Marina is owned by Björn from ABBA. I was there a couple of weeks ago and he walked by me on the streets.
    Also, of course you should do what ever you want but traditionally, in Sweden, the barometer is placed on the bulkhead in front of the saloon. I guess it’s because you can keep an eye on it when you are sitting in the cockpit.

  • @SteifWood

    I get the chills when I see you sail *Sweden's south coast.* The waters are more dangerous and unpredictable than you think. In the exact same area (south of Ystad) yrs ago sailing eastbound, we got squalls and big waves that came and went and came, and suddenly I was in a MOB situation where I lost my friend. Stay safe Sam.

    • @SteifWood
      @SteifWood Год назад +3

      Somebody here made a comment about the south coast not being more dangerous and unpredictable, but for some reason removed it. Ofc my statement is relative to all other coasts with their typical weather and sea conditions. Going around "horns", ie capes, larger islands and peninsulas, is normally rougher than a smoother coast where waves and wind has less tendencies to build, eg Cape Horn, Cape Fear, Stadt (Norway). In addition, in case of a westerly wind blowing over flat Denmark and into the Baltic, Sweden's southernmost coast doesn't have islands and an archipelago that can "dampen" the fury. The situation is a magnitude better up both the west and east coasts where it's much easier to seek shelter in case it gets rough.

    Nice to see Sven again, I always seem to learn something very deep from him! Traveling by trades, routing and build techniques all in one! So cool, what a treasure to have an old brass barometer, perhaps you could get an embedded computer with camera to watch it and record it's output for daily summary and warnings on impending squall... Could help you avoid a blow down.... Does your mast cam monitor take HDMI input, if so an HDMI switch and raspi pi system would do the job. Might be nice to log all the boat motion, engine temp, water temp, mag bearings, .... as well. Lot's of inexpensive sensors are now available, + NEMA tap to log NEMA messages GPS/traffic/...
