NEW: HazMat Theory Requirement & ELDT Mandate
As part of the new ELDT requirements that went into effect on February 7, 2022, all drivers seeking a HazMat endorsement are required to complete a Hazardous Materials theory training program BEFORE testing at a local licensing agency.
The program must be provided by a company/entity on the official Training Provider Registry and will fulfill the necessary theory instruction needed to take the knowledge test as part of the Federal Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. As part of the ELDT requirements, this training is now required before taking the written test for the HazMat endorsement at the BMV or DMV.

How long did it take for background to be done?
please if someone could respond to this ! I took an ELDT to receive my class A cdl . but now i want to get my hazmat endorsement. do i have to take a hazmat specific eldt before i can go take the test ?
How long does take to complete the c1 hazmat course?
Would you recommend anything else for the hazmat endorsement test? Like say CDL Genie or something.

I just finished cdl class A school at a college, is the ELDT training covered in that that class or do I need to take this course?
ELDT requirements for HazMat are separate and will need to be completed through a program that is FMCSA-approved.
Took it on C1 yesterday and passed it first try got a email saying it was accepted so I’m taking the test at dmv today.

This course is good in all states except for Washington and fulfills the ELDT requirement. You are still required to take the written HazMat exam at your local licensing office after successfully passing this exam.
I got my hazmat 10/05/2021 so when it’s time for me to renew my Cdl do I have to go thru the eldt training ????????
No, this does not apply to those with current (H) endorsement who will need to renew in the future.
@@GreatCDLTraining so when I renew my Cdl and I take the hazmat test on the computer and once I pass would I have to go thru the eldt or that’s just only for people who get the hazmat for the very first time????

not for hazmat. I've been driving (CDL A) for 4 years and just went to get my hazmat endorsement and found out I have to do this to even be able to take the test. ELDT hazmat is different than the other ELDT you have to do for regular class A/B/ passenger etc
Nope it's for any one with cdl that wants a hazmat endorsement regardless of how long you have been driving . I have been driving 15 years and when I went to go take my endorsement test for hazmat they wouldn't let me cause I hadn't done that test..
