The Quattroprte is such a beautiful car. An auto version of a well crafted Italian suit, inside and out. BMWs and Benzes are all black and pure business performance. The Maserati is a cruiser, not a performance car. It's gorgeous and always says "I have arrived in style."
I hope Maserati maintains this whole technology-in-moderation approach to their future interiors and doesn’t cave to the pressure to offer another iPad on wheels. This could really set them apart from German rivals making the tech deep dive and give them a niche of their of their own.
@@williamlong2682 yeah I agree with your point that VAG and Merc have gone with WAY too many touch controls, at least BMW still has a nice usable interior though
@@Joseph-xj4ex well, good thing it doesnt! But I disagree that Tech is the only thing that can justify high prices. I prefer quality of manufacture and materials. Old world craftsmanship. Not that this car necessarily does or doesnt exemplify these traits. I'm speaking generally.
Man, there's just something about Maseratis that really makes them stand out and, i really like their new products because they feel old school but refined and with good built quality. I would love to drive one someday and perhaps consider buying one
Do not wanna say you guys have no idea but that opinion is definetly outdated. Any Maserati with the modern Ferrari v8 or v6 has the variant of an engine that took engine of the year multiple times and it did for a reason. The leather is Italian tailored and the touch points are cold metal or soft leather. Germans are much cheaper because of base specs far below the one of a Maserati and no exclusivity.
I have a 2018 QP (bought in 2021) and I enjoyed watching your review. It's a lot of fun for a large sedan and has personality, particularly with its light rumble at idle that you can feel in the seat. Nobody buys this for a high tech experience, but it is a great large sedan for an enthusiast, particularly as a pre-owned purchase.
I’ve always liked the quattroporte. It’s more special than an S class and more entertaining, than a 7 series. The styling is unique and the interior has the right mix of tech and analog. The price is a bit rough but I would def spend the extra for something Italian
An exquisite magnificent car! The Interior by Ermenegildo Zegna leather is super exclusive! that even a Rolls Royce twice the price can't offer! One of the car's selling points is the magical operatic engine & exhaust sounds!! which delight the enthusiast connoisseur. The design by Lorenzo Ramaciotti still hasn't been bettered in its class!
You know, I think that Maserati's aren't all about the tech. It's the driving dynamics and the aesthetics. The interiors have come a long way and I think that they're good enough now for me to buy! It's my dream car. I say keep it how it is and focus on the driving dynamics!!
I recently bought a 2012 Quattroporte S V8 and it’s a blast!!! Sounds good, looks good, and feels good. I also got a matte military green wrap on it and it’s 🔥
Great review. Love my QP. Way more personality than the A8L I had before and a much better and more fun driving experience. I tuned mine to just under 500hp. Gives you near GTS power but with awd...
Such a beautiful car. Elegant, yet very very sporty and capable. So much style and handicraft details. And it has BUCKETS of charm, especially against the usual Teutonic competition. Agree on the Je ne sais quoi.
The best way I can describe it is the Maserati is like an AMG, big, heavy, luxurious, and fast. The Alfa is like an M3 competition, much more focused on performance, lots of road feel, but also a harsher ride and a less nice interior.
The quattroporte isn’t in the same class. I would def take one over an s class or 7 series. It’s a bit more special. The rear seat may not be as nice but that only matters if you plan on sitting in the back of your own car.
I still haven't figured out why honestly...... Because people suck at Italian cars and they all prefer these fucking Ford Mustangs and other foreign cars..... I'm speechless.....
So nice to hear that you like the SQ4 drive! I commented your RWD Ghibli S review and suggested you try the SQ4. Great that you did 😉 I still love my 2018 Ghibli SQ4. The QP is of course a step up, but I think most of what you say of the QP SQ4 also applies to the Ghibli SQ4.

Thank you for this! I do read the comments :). Mid March will likely be the next podcast since I’m doing a 996 road trip to the tail of the dragon next week
With respect the so called reliability issues no longer exist in modern Maserati so it’s a thing of the past. 15/20 years ago yes there were issues with reliability and quality and that’s no longer the issue.
I love that pattern on the leather; it's something you don't see every day. I feel like that's the ethos of this car - to be just a little alt compared to the Germans.
Great video! Funny, I was just thinking more about Maser lately. They've been able to retain a sense of whimsy on account of them maintaining such a unique style, even with their future cars and drivetrains. It looks like things are looking up and it makes me happy to see. Its more soulful driving experience may as well pull me over wanting a Lexus LS, but the interior of that car is so darn nice. It's really quite the tossup. Likewise, LC 500, or a GranTurismo?
They still make this car??? Maserati is pretty much one of the more forgotten car brands. I kind of hope the MC-20 revives the brand. I’m pretty sure a lot of people forgot the quattroporte because it’s a car that not that many people see. On a side note, I love that interior. It looks really really elegant.
When I used to work at BMW we used to always get the Quattroporte, and other Maserati for trade in. They were usually only 1-2 years old. They were steals on the used car market when we would let them go.
Years ago my friends dad had a bronzo siena quattroporte probably a 2014, the V8. I drove it once pretty hard and the check engine light immediately came on haha. Probably never gotten beat on, whoops.
i like the styling. the chrome trim and doorhandles plus body shape make me mistake this for a model s tesla time to time. glad you enjoyed it. doug demuro dumps on them quite a bit
Now that they introduced their customization program you can essentially spec both the exterior and interior any way you want... colored carbon fiber weaves, multi-tone leather seats and door panels, any trim selections you want, it's like Ferrari customization at BMW pricing.
I went to the Maserati USA car configurator website, as one does, and this car in that spec was easy to find and configure. Only a few options to choose from! Go to the BMW or Mercedes configurator, you need a manual on just how to use the site! Here in Finland no Maserati dealer, so I usually use USA car configurators in my day dreaming haha!
One of my favorite cars (when facelifted). So much personality to that car, and I think it’s beautiful. But the sound coming out of that car is probably the best part.
I’ve had a series 3, 4, and 5 Quattroporte. I test drove one of these when I was getting a Levante. Frankly, I’d prefer any of the older QPs over this one. Not that it’s bad, just different. The problem is the throttle. There’s a delay built in. Sone modern nonsense. If you want to turn left across traffic it’s terrifying. There’s no power for a second then the rockets kick in. Almost all new cars are like that. I fixed it in the Levante with a hack that lets you adjust it. It’s a nice feeling car inside, plenty powerful, just too much modernity. A less powerful naturally aspirated v8 would be perfect.
I really like the interior. I forgot Maserati was owned by Chrysler until I saw the window switch panel on the door. Same switch panel in other Chrysler products
It’s crazy how much Maserati has improved starting with the 2016 model year. Up until then, the quattroporte had no safety features except for traction control, stability control, antilock brakes, parking sensors, airbags, and a poor resolution backup camera.
The interior looks really nice, apart from that lower section of the console.. Very generic and not fitting for the calibre of this car. I think the screen looks slightly Jaguar'ish, but that's not a bad thing. Love the Analog clock. Would like to see more Maroon or deep red implemented into a brown interior, as black seems to be the common combination all the time, and it doesn't really connect properly.
I don’t take anyone serious that complains about a car not having digital gauges or a iPad taped to the center stack. I assume you have no sense of style or class. This Interior is very nice
6:58 the reason one used to buy a quattroporte is the glorious sounding 4.7 liter V8 that is no longer. For the money why in the world would you buy this over an M5 or RS7? I think the answer is clear you wouldn’t hence the discount in a market that is seeing work trucks marked up $5,000 over MSRP.
In as much as a Lexus is likely more reliable and an Audi would be more precise, for me it's the emotion, the feeling of driving, rather than being in an appliance, seeing myself every five minutes, or figuring out which car is mine in a parking lot.
A fantastic looking thing but not convinced about the overall package with FCA/Stellantis being involved. Recent iterations have been FCA parts bin specials unfortunately.
Nice Zegna interior, very stylish & much preferable compared to the German reign. The absence of V8 engine is significant though. This is their mistake. This vehicle should only come with an Italian euphonious V8, like the older model.
What do you mean by haphazard transmission programming? It was keeping itself right where it needed to be, most cars would lug you through those corners instead of keeping you above 3. I don't think you actually know what you're talking about.
