    I enjoy the tool making videos. I’ve purchased my first mortise lever lock. Lever locks are rare now in the US, however they are /were used up until the late 40’s houses. Thanks again for your efforts on RUclips

      That’s great thanks, I’ll be studying these! 🤓
      I found the hex brass that you use on some of your videos on Amazon, so I’ll get some to play with using it for a body as well as a lock core which I’ll be experimenting with.
      Do you have anywhere you recommend to buy key blanks from to file down for tensioners, or any advice on the most useful type/brand etc of tensioning key please?
      Am I right in thinking 5 and 7 gauge keys are the most useful and versatile to file down and that steel rather than brass is better as it’s stronger however it’s more difficult to work with than brass. I think I’ll have to go with brass keys ultimately I haven’t decided yet, due to a lack of metal working equipment, although I do have hand tools. Cheers 🍻 for any advice you can share 🤓👍🏻

    • @BrummieLockPicker
      @BrummieLockPicker  3 года назад

      I use old keys never actually brought any blanks,
      Steel is stronger but Brass is plenty strong enough, easy to file and looks better.
      Mortice locks are either 5 or 7 gauge so if you get one of each key and file them done you’ll be sorted 👍
