That bloke might be a left handed person , either way i'm just glad he is picking these beautiful locks , i most get a few of them for my own collection , have a great week my friend
Great vid mate, can I ask, am I right in think you need a two in one to pick a non curtained mortice lever lock with the bolt on the right, or potentially two wires. Thanks in advance mate🙏
The levers in a late 1800's coffer I have seem to be really loose and easily move up and down. Causing levers already picked to slip back, as it jars the whole lever pack. There are visible gaps between the levers too, meaning they aren't tightly fitted in the stack.. I can even fit a 1.3mm pick between them, and lift them another ~2mm. Very wobbly inside. The bit for the original key had to be at least 1 to 1-3/8" deep. So it's a long travel for each lever, and without a proper barreled key tension tool, Im starting to lose hope. My hands aren't steady enough to get all 4 levers without error. 8 hours of tinkering and a friend had it all day and failed too. Any advice?? Is there a way to compact the levers so they don't jump up and down, but only forward and back as intended?
Try using a tension tool with a taller bolt throw, make sure it’s at the back of the levers and when applying tension pull it towards you at the same time this will compress the levers and help them bind, doesn’t always work but worth a try
Done effortlessly as usual 😅 I was wondering if yourself or anyone of the community had any tips. I’m new to picking and self taught so you’ll have to forgive my not knowing. But are there any tools or methods to pick a mortice lock closed if manually resetting it wasn’t an option? I found on a lock last week I could pick it open but really struggled to close it doing the reverse. I was hoping there would be a tool someone could recommend for ease? I was considering overlift picks but might be barking up the wrong tree 😅 looking inside the lock I felt it seemed the pick was either too long or short for specific levers so maybe an overlift pick would be a happy medium?
Cheers for watching, they can be picked closed but I do not know of any tools that are used to do this apart from a pick and tension tool, sorry I have no tips either but it’s the same as picking it open really but obviously you tension in the opposite direction
If the lock has no curtain then you need to tension it by the bolt, see this video of me picking a Mortice Lock without a curtain, hope it helps you ruclips.net/video/jrc1Ccpv0dQ/видео.html
Great video, actually with you picking from the opposite side but camera is on see thru side, it shows what's going on without hands in the way, the only thing better would be a split screen showing both at the same time.
Very good and clear demonstration Brummie, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you so much for this video, it was really informative to be able to see the pick lifting the levers, Many thanks Chris

Great video, my question is where can I get these transparent mortices for training
It’s easy to make them yourself 👍
Very nice to watch either way as. Have NO experience with that type of lock
Lowell Forbes , Cheers for the comment and thanks for watching 👍
Hi mate, can you pick a mortice from the front (outside) when there is a key already in the back (inside)?
No you can not pick it but it’s actually easier to open, watch this vid ruclips.net/user/shortsnr3pKTFydp4?feature=share
@@BrummieLockPicker Thanks for that. Christ, I didn't realise it was that easy...
And this one if the lock is non curtain ruclips.net/video/xYMnPuBZR5E/видео.html
