Thank you Mrs. Chris. I use Salmon, add eggs, onions and corn meal. Mackerel is less expensive than Salmon. Love your recipes. God bless you and your family. Watching from Arizona.
My husband bought a can of red salmon. I didn’t grow up with this dish & didn’t want it. It was delicious! I will make this again. Luv u Chris. Thank you. ❤️
I love ❤️ all of your recipes but do you have one on potatoes soap? And if so can you share it please. I trust your recipes and I been trying to find one that is like my grandma use to cook. Thank you in advance.
Still eat them today with salmon and mackerel....I mostly eat with rice (butter & sugar of course) but have eaten with diced potatoes (hashbrown).....wish I had some now!
Yes, my mom would make it with Salmon and Mackerel. She said the canned Mackerel was cheaper. We liked the Mackerel better because it has a bolder taste. I still make it today along with rice is good eating.
Mom used to make Salmon Patties for a family of 9 people. She made them with toast torn up that must have been cheap croutons? She never put green peppers in her's, just onion so I'm watching all the videos and making my own notebook of recipes to give to a family member to pass down the old recipes that are budget-friendly for someone with college student loans she is trying to pay off. You are one of the best cooks I've seen so may have to try the flour instead of the toast croutons. It looks like it is easier than how I've been making them. Hubby loves them so much and you are a wonderful cook !
These look really good, Miss .Chris! Mama used to make salmon patties with egg and cold madhed potatoes or egg and bread crumbs then coat it with self rising flour! Yummy good with green beans and black eyed peas!
I Ty for helping me with the ingredients cause it’s been years but yes ma’am awesome food for us with grits or butter and rice or sandwiches no matter which way u don’t loose
Hello, using a desk top and I'm not able to see the ingredients in the description. Still going to make these this weekend. Hope they taste like my grandmother's
Ms. Chris I was raised by my grandmother in Selma Alabama and we use to eat these often. I still make therm I just gourmet the up a bit. Thank you so much for bringing back to my childhood. You are wonderful and I really enjoy watching you.
Yep. When I was a kid, my Mama would make these with stewed potatoes as a side. That's exactly like I like them today......stewed potatoes and cornbread. OOOhhh Yesssss.
You sooo right it was mackerel later start buying the can salmon. Libby’s had Keta or Chum salmon in the can I would buy those there’s no difference made now what variety in can . A Red Sockeye can be purchased.
I remember eating salmon, croquettes all the time when I was a little girl. I’m cooking salmon croquettes today for my husband and myself. When he found out I knew how to cook salmon croquettes he was shocked. We live in Las Vegas. I’m also cooking rice.❤❤❤❤❤
We used mackerel because was cheaper. We always had fish cakes with tater cakes, sometimes beans. Jack mackerel fish cakes, potato pancakes, pinto beans
I remember how happy I was coming home from school and my mother had these on the stove when I was a little girl I want to thank you so much for sharing your gift of cooking. Watching your videos that I just found today has made me very excited again about cooking. I always loved to cook and have people over now that my husband past and children all grown it hasn't been what it was but I realized now watching you that I still have that love and passion for cooking and serving others and it's still needed I will start with making Thanksgiving dinner I'm excited about it and I have so many recipes that I have saved from your channel that I will try God bless you and your family you have truly touched my soul today thank you I will be in touch👍😀
I've eaten it Chris but with can salmon not mackerel. Try squeezing fresh lemon then add some lemon pepper seasoning then putting flour on outside like a patty dip in flour all over shake off excessive flour then fry its really good 😛.
OMG ❗ I am almost in tears. My grandma use to make these all the time. We ate them with butter biscuits and brown syrup 😋. Thank you so much for sharing. I miss my BIG MOMMA SO MUCH 😭
I can go to the dollar tree and get mackerel for a $1 a can. I may mix it with a can of salmon or just all mackeral. Its very good, and inexpensive. The canned mackerel makes a good fish soup, or add tomatoe sauce to the fish juice with some onions, peppers and jalepenos. Indian style. It is good.
Naver had any made with mackerel, but had many, many meals of these made with salmon, with peas or green beans on the side and sometimes fried taters with onions.
i thought mom named um Salmon Croquettes be cause we were 2 poor 2 buy Salmon so she used Mackerel and gave it a fancy name i didn't know this t[ll i watched this video that's why when i began to make Croquettes with Salmon the favor i was milder then i remembered i think Mackerel taste better it has a stronger flavor thank u Mrs Chris once again u trigger great food memories 4 me um gonna get some Mackerel and make some ill let u know how they come out
The winter time is coming up what type of cooking is in your kitchen? I want to make some good chicken noodle soup and also some good beef pork or chicken chili.. spicy I prefer but also would like to kids to eat it... just giving you some thought for your food.. our kids can't live off of hot dogs and dinosaur chicken nuggets forever.. Tom from New Jersey love the cooking videos keep up the great work♡♡♡
Just an idea. If you work all day put some ground beef or turkey in the crockpot in the morning on low with all your favorite chili ingredients and once you and the kids get home, you'll have a nice hot chili waiting for you. Serve with shredded cheese, onions, avocado, tomatoes, even nachos. I think y'all would like it.
@@blacknbougie8021 my crockpot has low Hi and then warm.. I'm going for 12 hours a day.. I wonder if warm would work I have to check the temperature. I really don't like leaving things on when I'm not home..

I loved pink salmon when i was a little girl with rice biscuits peas and i served it to my kids. I guess its taste the same; not sure but moms used salmon. Prepared the same way though. Think im going to fix some salmon for dinner tonight for me and my husband. #emptynesters. Thanks for video.
I use canned Salmon and breadcrumbs instead of flour. Any canned fish would work. I’ve seen some people use tuna too. I also don’t like chunks of onion and green pepper and put those in a food processor first then add to the mixture. Thanks for another great recipe Ms. Chris ❤️
Tonight my son just woke me up to ask how him and his girlfriend to cook salmon patties. I gave them this recipe..She is a beginner and their trying to eat healthy. I love salmon and mackerel patties. Even to this day a must have in my home..
My mom made these from canned salmon... I was shocked to hear people ate them with rice and biscuits and syrup for BREAKFAST! We always had them on Friday for dinner with spaghetti. I’m learning so much from you. I am born and raised in Chicago but I love your Southern recipes.
My mom use to cook Salmon rice and sweet peas and rolls or homemade biscuits, and I'm from the A -T-L, and that's what I use now, they are delicious, I've never had mackerel!
Chris I enjoy this you really are the good old fashioned old school I see the wooden bowls that I haven't seen since the middle 70s when I was a kid and you say you didn't know why they call him salmon croquettes cuz generally you you you would use authentic can salmon that's why they call them salmon croquettes and, the mackerel would just call a mackerel Croquettes not salmon croquettes the mackerel croquettes.
My momma would pick out the bone because they do have bones like all fish 🐟 and she would cook hers with cornmeal with a little flour like frying fish with fried potatoes as the sides
We still make them. When I tell you my mom made the best croquettes. Along with biscuits ( homemade and homemade syrup)😢 sure do miss her. She had a very secret ingredient she used. That our family still haven’t seen anyone do. We’re thinking about marketing it. That’s how different it makes it taste. Thank you Ms. Chris. I love your cooking so much. Be blessed forever🥰
Brings back memories of my childhood!!! My dad was a single parent and he made rhis quite often, but just changed up the side dishes.
