Can we just appreciate how much work ToolArchive puts into making these? Finding audio, finding videos, adding videos, synching audio/video, mastering, editing.
for fucking real. I paid 150 for tickets to a sold out show at the xcel in St Paul and I'm having more fun watching this than I did at the show. this is Amazing!
I have been going to Tool shows since 1992. I am perfectly fine with them switching from complete insane Maynard up front and mosh pits and fires breaking out everywhere, wondering if I was going to survive the evening, loving the visceral madness......to now having an older more mature Tool with a Pink Floyd type lazer and visual show. we get old, the band members get old, great music never ages. just accept aging , lay back, let them show you another way.
Aaron Estes Exactly bro, I've seen Tool 6 times, APC 3 times and Puscifer 3 times and I think it only shows that the music is what matters, not him being up front....he is not hiding, he is making us focus on the amazing music and not on himself. I get it, much like it seems you do as well. Rock on fellow Tool fan! Oh and I have tix to the 24th of this month for my 7th Tool show....can't wait!
animusolus Yeah. One broke out DIRECTLY behind me during Vicarious. I found what looked like an advertisement for the show in the aftermath of it. No idea where they got it, but mine now.
Almost. Adam probably wouldn't want to hear that because he plays an original from the 1970s (I think he owns a bunch, actually - they're pretty rare). But the silver paint they used back then didn't age well and you can tell an original because they have a dingy greenish tint - they don't look silver anymore. I think there are some old daytime festival shows on yt that you can see the green tint in the sunlight
I was there. Such amazing quality. One of the best days of my life. Thank you so much for such a great upload of the show. Now I get to relive it whenever I wish. Have a great day. Spiral out.
I can see how you'd like it if you were there, but as far as ToolArchive's vids go, this is one of the worst as far as audio quality -- mostly because the sing-along bros are mic'd better than Maynard and the drunk dudes singing ruin it. For those just discovering ToolArchive - find another show
Maynard: "I stand in the back in the shadows so the audience can focus on the other musicians" * *fuckin dresses in full riot gear for no apparent reason** O_O
He wont admit it, but it is so obvious when he got hit by some object out of the crowd way back years ago, that was it for him. He started hanging in the back. SO Fuck you whoever did that! Lil bitch!!
I usually HATE to see someone on stage not "rockin out" but for some reason, Adam just playing each meticulous note, like a statue just looking ahead, is pretty bad ass (nobody else could pull it off)
It does make me panic a tish internally like "eep! please enjoy playing as much as I enjoy listening because I'd be so sad if it wasn't enjoyable anymore!" Tool is just such a beautiful thing to me. We're so lucky to be spoiled with such phenomenal performances :)
It reminds me of Robert Fripp from King Crimson. He was always very stoic and would just sit on a stool and play the sickest shit with the most sober expression on his face, but it was somehow badass. I think I've only seen Fripp smile slightly once in a video, and it felt like he totally broke character. I play the drums and I have so much fun when I am playing that it is hard to express, but when I see a video of myself playing I look like I am bored and miserable for some reason. I don't have a good drumming stank face. I kinda look like a mouth breather when I'm playing (which I have gotten better about keeping my mouth closed for the most part). But I swear I'm having the most fun I could have when I play, even if my face says otherwise. So I assume that Adam is just as happy playing it as we are all listening to it.
for everyone bitchin' about Maynard being "in the shadows", the last time I seen them was 02' and he was already doing that so I'm not sure how long you been away?
J Ramsey Exactly bro, I've seen Tool 6 times starting back in 95, APC 3 times and Puscifer 3 times and I think it only shows that the music is what matters, not him being up front....he is not hiding, he is making us focus on the amazing music and not on himself. I get it, much like it seems you do as well. Rock on fellow Tool fan! Oh and I have tix to the 24th of this month for my 7th Tool show....can't wait!
Disagree. Maynard hates tool and also hates tool fans. Ever hear him talk about tool in any interview in the last decade? No. He's the front man of one of the greatest band ever - FRONT MAN, not shadow dweller. I seen tool in the 90's when he wasn't into hiding. Those were the days...
Rick Ehman He doesn't want to be the front man. Why is the singer always the front man? Danny is obviously the most talented member. He hides in the shadows cause Tool fans overrate Maynard's talent and make him out to be some lyrical God. He hates seeing his fellow band members seen as his sidekicks when they are more talented than him.
Nick Starkey Not sure its lackluster. I just saw them this weekend at the Gorge, and they put on a hell of a show. I havent seen them since Lollapalooza in 97. That show was great as well. Not sure why you are so hostile towards the band. They are selling out shows in a matter of a few minutes and killing it.
Is freaking Maynard wearing riot/swat gear? That's hilarious af. Adam Jones is such a cute, creative Chewbacca. Danny, always kills it on drums! I wish they'd put out a DVD for the fans whom cannot make it to the concerts...though I doubt that'll ever happen; considering that the new album is ever elusive. Anyways, thanks Tool Archive, whomever you may be, for the uploads. My day is brightened whenever I get a notification from your channel. 😀
Yeah Maynard said in an intervju that he dont like being in the spotlights, because thats very hot, and he would get some kind of seizures. I have a little theory that hes stepped away from the old himself (when he was younger, voice stronger, and taking alot more drugs(i assume.. he have said he took way too much acid in high school)). Like, the voice is not an instrument you can just go and buy a new one when it wears out. And if you listen to their older records and live shows, you can hear what extreme strain that would take on the vocal cords over time. Most people cant even make such sounds..
Entonces sí podemos considerar la idea de que es como una especie de armadura. Es difícil mantener y cantar melodías que hizo cuando era joven, quizás eso lo tiene siempre presente y por eso se debe sentir más cómodo estar en la parte de atrás.
I'm a freshman and this was my first Tool show and I saw APC a couple months after. Every other person at GovBall that day was wearing a Tool shirt. Definitely a show I'll remember.
I'm back here 2,414 days later after just seeing the first night at MSG! I still revisit this Gov Ball show in my mind often, it is insane that this band is still playing this incredible music for us after so many years! Looking forward to the next one🐙🤟
This was my FIRST concert and idk if I will ever be able to go to a better show than this one 💜💙 tool is the BEST show, music, atmosphere, just everything 😎
Of all the ToolArchive shows recorded, this one by far is the finest. Thank you to the people who run this channel and have given us such great live content all the way back to 1992.
I love how Maynard gives the spotlight to the Members who make the music what it is, Tool is not just Maynard... Adam, Danny and Justin are the real Geniuses behind Tool, if you wanna look at Maynard go to a Pucifer show....
It's not that, they want the attention off of them, and on the show that is being presented, that is why so much is spent on lasers, video, audio quality, kerosene fog, even this last tour falling gold sprinkles from the top of the arenas! not to mention the UFO style falling lights and transparent curtain.
My first Tool show was one of Justin's first shows. 1996 - He and Mayard were both in boxers and covered in blue body paint. Maynard had red spots that glowed under the blacklights - justin didn't get any spots . . .
sprawl nod I saw them that same tour at the UPS Fieldhouse in Tacoma. there was like 3500 people there. Maynard was Blue and so was Justin, and they were all wearing boxer shorts.
+Dee Bee - We were lucky to see them in a small venue. Even if I could score a front row ticket these days, it wouldn't be as close and if it was, the band would still be far way . . . different times
What What a oerfextly elegant way of putting it. This is the analogy I have have been searching the last 23 years for in how to put into words the epic magnificence th at is Dannys drumming
S Whatever I wonder what event made him change his mind from connecting visually with the audience to hiding in the shadows? The first time I saw them I was so impressed by the light show but I really wanted to see mjk emotion. The second time I felt it was insulting for him not to show himself to the crowd. I didn't even see his shadow and honestly question if he was there.
If you want to see him go to A Perfect Circle concert. With Tool its about the artistry and his band mates which present the music. He merely applies the lyrics to the music. It's apart of what makes 'Tool' Tool. The emotion is in the vocals and music, not his body.
Thanks for the upload! Its like medicine for me. But if i had anything to wish of, please come to EUROPEEEEE!!! Its ok next year, but please really consider one or two shows, I never saw Tool live beeing a huge fan 10 years now. You would enrich my life so much, words cant describe.
Yea man, that was one of the first things I noticed too... Danny's snare sounds great in this recording. I wish he would use his snare with the wires on more sometimes.
thank you for this video TOOL is hands rock my favorite metal band of all time they have been the soundtrack to my life since as long as i can remember.....a one of kind band that has stood the test of time
I really appreciate showing the video. I was at the Tool in Gorge, WA, however, my seat was in a terrible view... I couldn't see Maynard at all but it was an awesome quality :)
@@destroyermaker I miss those screams man... :( After 2010 I've seen Maynard scream only once, during 2016 when they were doing jerk-off, but besides that i haven't seen anything else.
Wrong. You might not like it but it's fucking amazing. It features some of Danny most intense and complicated drum parts. Have a look at some drum covers and you might see it in a different light. I wasn't keen until I saw them do it live and it blew me away.
Saw it live twice on the 10,000 days tour. I remember me and a friend going nuts to it practically alone. One of my all time favorites and so underated.
Wish I coulda been there for this show. The first concert my uncle took me to was Tool, 97’, Anemia tour, Electric Factory, Philly. Changed my life forever!!! Best concert I’ve been to before and since. 👍🏽❤️🤘🏽💪🏽🛠🌈🧲🤘🏽 LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR ART WITH US!!!!!
Maynard's voice sounding good......probably pretty obvious to Tool fans but I think the visuals on screen are New Album artwork teasers..some of their concerts in 2001 had 10000s days art on the screen...the 7 star depth during the solo is trippy af
The more I hear these live shows, the more I am hoping their next material could take more from "Undertow" or "Aenima", their most "rock-oriented" songwriting... I love when they get all cerebral and lose themselves in the maze of their own sound, but sometimes I just love listen to something of straightforward like "Sober" or "Stinkfist" :) Thank you ToolArchive for these Amazing clips, updates and care :)
Good idéa, but kinda doubt this will happen. I think Danny said in an interview that he wanted to make the record like one long song, split into different tracks..
Love these guys, been a fan since 1996. Seen them a few times in concert in Vegas, they always put on a great show and sound good. Much more polished than they were in the beginning.
They played parts of descending and invincible as well. You can find parts of wings for Marie during the 01-02 tour footage. They always do shit like that cheeky fuckers they are
I'm thoroughly enjoying this video. the close ups are like none other. thanks toolarchive for putting this one together. I will watch it many times over.
Copying setlist/time comment from GuitarDad cause RUclips keeps moving it way down the list The Grudge 00:00 Parabola 08:47 Schism 15:46 Maynard's News 23:49 Opiate 24:38 Ænema 35:17 Jambi 43:29 Third Eye 51:20 Synth 1:06:30 Drum Solo 1:08:35 Forty Six & 2 1:11:50 Sweat 1:18:18 Vicarious 1:23:26 Stinkfist 1:31:09
Thanks a lot for the upload - pure art. A bit off topic: am I the only one who are a bit tired of waiting on a new album from TOOL and therefore doesn´t really get this "Whooow" feeling by concerts like this one???
Suck it. Parabola third eye the grudge sweat and shit forgot the 5th. Had I been there those 5 songs woulda been a first for me. Opiate would be the 5th. I can take parabola and the grudge off the list. And the flood is one of my favs on undertow I was it twice I believe.
I agree with both of yall. In the 6 times I've seen them I have only seem prison sex once, sober twice, and flood once (that was a real unexpected treat) always wish for at least one or 2 off undertow but by the end of every show I I can never complain.. they are just that good. They always give me at least 2 songs I hadn't seen live yet. This set they have me 4 including my all time favorite in third eye for the first time ever
This is the best quality, footage. I enjoyed it. this Is my first time seeing Tool Live. I love tool but never got a chance to see them live. I love it.
man that was such an amazing performance. I was in Sec 2 row 20 as well....it was life changing! so far only seeing various songs posted of varying quality...boo...would love to see a multi cam solid audio feed mix make it onto this channel.. :)
Yea I found uploads for almost every song except Third Eye, Parabol/a and sweat. For it being my first concert I think it was a fucking amazing first concert.
I was there, awesome show. Would also like the full show, but really would be happy if I could just find Third Eye from that night. So sick! I know its similar to the way the been playing it but still, Rosemont show was killer!
29:25 between the great visual arrangement in the background and some of the mid range easy atmospheric jamming there's such a neat feeling being created here.
I'm an old head 60/70 blues rock Allman bros n such Tool the first metal band I liked couldn't understand Metallicas mad shredding of guitar these guys always aurally n intellectually stimulating love the journeys 🎸🎸🔉🔉🍄🍄😎😎
Eric Bierling stop trying to label shit. people will argue over instruments. or a tempo, or an arrangement. oh it's 1 bpm too much, its not metal now etc. just grow up ffs
Mooky Blaylock wow talking about music turned into personal attacks seems you've lost perspective it's about musical taste but your opinion smells like your ass my friend 😖

Yes, much appreciated, ToolArchive (and Tool)

That must be passion.

Believe it or not, there were mosh pits at this one.
And that is relevant to the music? LMAO
I see what you did there, clever ^^^^^^^
animusolus Yeah. One broke out DIRECTLY behind me during Vicarious. I found what looked like an advertisement for the show in the aftermath of it. No idea where they got it, but mine now.
I love that Adam's hair matches his guitar now. That silverburst.
randscorporation I'd kill for a silverburst les Paul custom like his lmao
Almost. Adam probably wouldn't want to hear that because he plays an original from the 1970s (I think he owns a bunch, actually - they're pretty rare). Wow, how relevant.
I'm 17 and I own a custom silverburst from 2014, will it age green? I like the look of the 70s greeny tinge
color of the guitar is irrelevant....talent is relevant who cares if it is rainbow LOL

@@destroyermaker so mean😂😂😂
Honestly I was front row for this show and I think it was me
Adam is slowly turning into chewbacca
zakaria talbi that's rude
lost it
lol my Mrs wants his hair.
zakaria talbi lmao i thought the same
zakaria talbi he's Perfect with that look
Chewbacca on guitar, some dude humping bass, and a shadow on vocals. Nice.
Dont forget the octopus on the drums
Aaaaand... Danny Carey.
It's like the f****** Max Rebo Band
And Rick Grimes on Bass
swat operator on vocals actually
I was there. Such amazing quality. One of the best days of my life. Thank you so much for such a great upload of the show. Now I get to relive it whenever I wish. Have a great day. Spiral out.
481216Dragon I went to the Fairfax show which was their first show this tour. Its impossible to relive it through a video.

Easy there buzzkills.
On the contrary, this is one of the best.
Waited against the barricade for 9 HOURS without moving to catch these dudes front row at this show. Worth it!!

B. Jr. Looks like an amateur robocop
Of there's a reason he's hiding, weight gain, age, wear and tear, you name, he's hiding he's older looks and flab.
Ayden Duckwitz share these with doing it long before 2002 believe me

Great sound on this! The bass is usually blown out, but you did a great job with equipment recording this! 10/10
This is one of the best video captures of them I've seen!
For real
Danny Carey's work is like listening to beautifully organized rainfall hitting pavement.
Haha epic analogy.
Lol this sounds like something you’d say while listening to them on acid or shrooms, but I agree 100%
What What a oerfextly elegant way of putting it. This is the analogy I have have been searching the last 23 years for in how to put into words the epic magnificence th at is Dannys drumming
This is by far the closest concert I've seen towards being a pro-shot DVD. Amazing work, thanks for making
I was there. This is so cool and i did not know it existed until today. Wow thanks for the memory
DAMN! Amazing whoever filmed this, well done! Sound and video quality for a live concert is incredible!
That’s festival dates for you. Shorter set BUT no photo video restrictions.
The version of Opiate in this show is crazy. I don't think I've ever seen them play it like that before with the jam in the middle.
ToolArchive, thank you so much for this video! Much appreciated!
These guys are incredible live.
I never thought I'd get to see this band live, this night/performance lived up to and exceeded all my expectations.
I truly admire Maynard for not putting himself front and center at Tool concerts. It is such a powerful way to present the music.
S Whatever i agree it displays how vocals are just another instrument
He was there.
S Whatever ya idk have to respectfully disagree people pay good money to hear and see the band that would include him
I was there, by myself lol. Was one of the best experiences in my life that day and night.
The most amazing thing at this show was hearing everybody sing along.
that snare.... amazing. it has more buzz to it, and sounds great
Antoine Kanaan true shit
Yea man, that was one of the first things I noticed too... Danny's snare sounds great in this recording. I wish he would use his snare with the wires on more sometimes.
it was completely worth standing 2 hrs to see this show! the best performance of the weekend!
their music has helped me through some of the darkest times in life thanks again for this video you did a great job the audio is on point
i didnt think it was possible but Adam has become even more incredible over the last decade. unbelievable
thank you for this video TOOL is hands rock my favorite metal band of all time they have been the soundtrack to my life since as long as i can remember.....a one of kind band that has stood the test of time
Tool is not just music, It's a great mindset!!
Responding 5 yrs later....yes it is!
@@jennibishop718 indeed.
I really appreciate showing the video. I was at the Tool in Gorge, WA, however, my seat was in a terrible view... I couldn't see Maynard at all but it was an awesome quality :)
7:03 Adam be like "aren't you suppose to be doing that long ass scream right about now?"
I still wonder why didn't he scream tho :(
@@andrejm3069 Because he can't anymore. He talks about it with Carson Daly. Notice how there aren't any screams on Fear.
@@destroyermaker I miss those screams man... :(
After 2010 I've seen Maynard scream only once, during 2016 when they were doing jerk-off, but besides that i haven't seen anything else.
flaps arms like bird instead
@@destroyermaker He did have a couple pretty damn nice little ones on Eat The Elephant
Now, THAT'S growing old gracefully. I have loved this band forever, ever since I heard UNDERTOW when it came out. Still a class act.
OMG Third Eye live in concert is simply magnificent
ToolArchive is the right place for any Tool fan. Thank you for all your effort, really.
they needs to play Rosetta stoned on there tour
riley allison that'd be sweet
Nick Starkey I know the irony is hilarious but I'm just saying it's a good fucking song
Nick Starkey music is subjective and I can respect that
I am so thrilled I will be able to see they again in Feb. 2022 at Key Bank Center! Greatest band of all time.
'35 seconds ago' so this what early feels like
This is one of the best bootleg TOOL concerts I've seen. Glad this was uploaded! The playing, and singing quality is top notch! Thanks! :)
Def gotta love the way they opened the set!
welcome back TooL:) one of the best especially live! you've been missed
My face still hasn't recovered from the melting it went through during this show.
This is the best live concert footage I've seen....I was there @ Hershey...amazing show...and this is just as great! WOw! Best concert of my life.
Aenema is the best I've heard in years.
21years
Doc Roid had a lot to say, he had a lot of nothing to say
ToolArchive is a beast. Thank you for all of the uploads, it is greatly appreciated
You have not lived until you have seen Tool in concert live.
So true. Listening to a record is not the same. You have to experience them.
I’ve seen them three times
Wish I coulda been there for this show. The first concert my uncle took me to was Tool, 97’, Anemia tour, Electric Factory, Philly. Changed my life forever!!! Best concert I’ve been to before and since. 👍🏽❤️🤘🏽💪🏽🛠🌈🧲🤘🏽
LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
Amazing how four people can make so much amazing noise.
The more I hear these live shows, the more I am hoping their next material could take more from "Undertow" or "Aenima", their most "rock-oriented" songwriting... I love when they get all cerebral and lose themselves in the maze of their own sound, but sometimes I just love listen to something of straightforward like "Sober" or "Stinkfist" :)
Thank you ToolArchive for these Amazing clips, updates and care :)
Good idéa, but kinda doubt this will happen. I think Danny said in an interview that he wanted to make the record like one long song, split into different tracks..
Fucking shit! It's so fucking hard. Tool is an amazing experience!
I love how Justin Chancellor moves to the groove like his life depends on it.
Love these guys, been a fan since 1996. Seen them a few times in concert in Vegas, they always put on a great show and sound good. Much more polished than they were in the beginning.
So you mean to tell me that chocolate chip trip was played live 2 years ago and nobody knew? 1:06:30
They played parts of descending and invincible as well. You can find parts of wings for Marie during the 01-02 tour footage. They always do shit like that cheeky fuckers they are
was here, what a night. thank you for making this TA
Best Band on Earth . Period
First time I got to see you guys live! Thank you so much!
No puedo dejar de ver una y otra vez esta delicia de banda
This gets me so stoked to see them in two days! Thanks for the upload!

"It's like blood to a boner"
Am I the only one who caught that? xD
I'm thoroughly enjoying this video. the close ups are like none other. thanks toolarchive for putting this one together. I will watch it many times over.

thanks for posting... TOOL is by far one the BEST LIVE bands. I personally like watching concert's. Thanks again. i really enjoyed it.
Wow, that's the first time I've listened to Terence McKenna and Tool together. He's the voice right before Vicarious.
Thank you for the sound quality.
GODS.
Thanks a lot for the upload - pure art.
A bit off topic: am I the only one who are a bit tired of waiting on a new album from TOOL and therefore doesn´t really get this "Whooow" feeling by concerts like this one???
This set list would’ve been much better if they included songs off Undertow
This set they have me 4 including my all time favorite in third eye for the first time ever
glad i got swamp song in nashville this year
This was my first and only tool concert to date and I was so pleased with the performance and I was off a tab so it was extra special
"Your enemy is ignorance"
Saw Tool live in Atlanta, love, love, love! Tool never gets old to me, I can listen over and over again.....
Third eye is "arguably" some dudes favorite live song
Oh and a big thank you to the people who post these live concerts!!
Damn they're more perfect than ever
Mooky is a dick.
Sure is.
This is the best quality, footage. I enjoyed it. this Is my first time seeing Tool Live. I love tool but never got a chance to see them live. I love it.
Maynard and his crazy gollum dance moves.
It was an extreme privilege for all the other artists at this festival to have Tool perform at it.
This channel should upload the Rosemont show. It was amazing.
man that was such an amazing performance.
I was there!! We got "The Pot"!!!
Richard Granger that was soooo dope
My brother and I were at this concert. Best concert I have ever been to. Amazing.
Danny is the best drummer alive!!!
You guys did an amazing job being all incognito and getting sick shots of the band with awesome audio quality.
That is so fucking good.
Wayne Rolfe Tool isn't a metal band... But they're phenomenal.
Eric Bierling You're not a metal band.
rece1234 That makes absolutely no sense you idiot...
THANKS TOOL & ToolArchive
Typical maynard stuff behind Adam when he's playing Jambi Solo XD
This was a perfect night, my first time seen them live, my favorite band in the whole world. Thank you! THANK YOU for this upload!
