It’s not hyperbole to say that I have been waiting for this video like a kid before Christmas. That was awesome to see a 25% increase in PTO power from just the timing and fuel. Thank you for the hard work man.
I have a JD 1025r we finally got a turbo kit out, and with that guys are throwing more fuel at them and making 15psi. I love these little diesel’s I’ll probably wait till i get 100 hours before i throw a turbo on mine but in the interim Ill crank up the fuel a bit as changing the timing is a real bore. Even if its 2-3hp it’s worth it you just don’t wanna roll coal that doesn’t do shit just waste money Great video
I always wondered how much the PTO angle affects those readings. You had a huge angle going on there, and that would affect the reading greatly. Unless it was compensated for in the calcs. Bet it was actually slightly higher if the shaft was straight in. Prolly not by a huge amount, but could have been a couple horse legitimately. 💪
Very Kool modification & power improvement. A turbo-super-charger & air inter-cooler would be the ultimate. Thank you for the great Video Sir and happy tractoring.
I turbo charged my last tractor with great results (L285) 🏁. I was tempted to do it immediately on my L2501 but decided to start with the basics and she what she could do 💪🏻
@@RaztechPowersports oh yea liked that one also. As l recall that unit was a 4 " banger" :: a smooth operation. Just no real reason to over power a new tractor and send it to the junk yard before at least 500 hours of proven performance happens. This was a "brave move" for the Public improvement seminar to deleat your warrenty.
I have the very same tractor. Gear drive and ag tires. The difference between the gear drive and hydrostatic as far as pulling power is unbelievable. The gear drive out pulls the hydrostatic badly.
I have hydro and you're making me jealous lol but I don't really need this for pulling. Mainly for spreading rock and around the house stuff. Small garden will be about the only real pulling I do. So I'm hoping I never come across the opportunity in which my hydro drive disappoints me lol
@@RaztechPowersports if I break another one I’m just going to wire a 12v hour meter to the ignition and say the hell with it. I can judge rpms pretty close by sound. 😎
Excellent work. I’m curious if it is possible to achieve an HP increase on my tractor. It’s does a great job now doing everything I need it to do but a bump in power is always nice. I have an LX2610SU. Thanks
I wonder if anyone has put a small turbo on one of these? I feel like one of these engines is capable of 50hp. They certainly have enough displacement for it. Would probably over-power the gearbox then.
@@davidmcgraw7887 I ran the finishing mower all day with great results. I did get the engine to load up and it never lost rpm. The bush hog will be the real test. I have a good thick area for next time
@@RaztechPowersports lol! Luckily I got 2 kubota z mowers to handle the lawn. But if I end up getting a bush hog for the 2501, your words might end up ringing in my head one day haha. Already feeling slighted now that I've seen comparison on hydro vs geared, but luckily I don't need the 2501 for any plowing or hauling 😅 for me it's more like having an electric shovel and wheelbarrow/rake because that's all I really need it for. But I'm sure over time I will find more things to use it for! And then I'll end up wanting more power haha
I'm waiting on my new egt sensor, did this a while back but the cheap egt sensor sucked so I didn't tune it yet. In the process of removing my fuel screw it moved too much so I've gotta figure out the tune. Just screw it all the way in and start slowly doing 1/4 turns until the temp goes up , then back off?
@@RaztechPowersports I saw the Lee on one of the employees T shirts. I’m in Biloxi. This is an awesome upgrade. With this bump in PTO power, this thing can almost push a 15KW PTO generator. Saves me from going to a 4701! I think this mod will run the whole house including AC if we get any bad storms this year.
I turned up my 2501 HST, one full turn on the screw. Running exact same conditions, she rolls coal under heavy load, max EGT just under 1300, very light smoke under normal loads. Its a completely different tractor to operate now. It was adequate stock, now its just a beast! Do it.
@@bearswartz2907 Hey buddy I installed that same autometer today. Was curious to see my temps. I was about 1050-1100 under load, stock. Do you know what yours was stock?
@@bearswartz2907 oh alright no biggie. Well like I said, mine was about 1050. That was going up an incline in High gear which made it bog down a lot, and that’s when the temps creeped up. I will be using my 5’ brush hog this weekend to see how that affects the temp. One more thing, when I start my tractor it spits out black smoke but clears up very quickly. Have you noticed that with your tractor? Tractor is still stock.

Agreed! The gear drive spins all 4 tires in low range, regardless of the gear for loader work

Nice numbers! I know you said you only had the ole butt dyno stock, but do you know what others have put out stock?
So it was rated at 20.5 Hp from the factory. Holding 25 is a nice % increase 🏁
I love how you mentioned the tac cable. I’m on my 3rd one now on a 2022 L2501 with just 110 hrs. Other than that the tractor has been bullet proof.

RAZZ- Thanks for the follow up and conclusion to the fuel pump timing MOD .
What would rate you engine horsepower ??
I would say the engine at the crank is making 32 to 33 hp. The torque increase is very noticeable as well

That’s clean smoke it’s not bad to roll coal but it is when you can’t see the other side of the smoke
I actually just leaned it out a 1/4 of a turn. Egt temps were okay but I was rolling to much coal under a steady load (grass cutting)
Really nice results. Hopefully I'll be doin this mod to my little 2501
Thanks! I’ll be cutting today to get some really world results today

what does it cost to have someone put this on a dyno?
Can you explain how you can measure horsepower at the PTO with a live PTO?
ITs torque x rpm. They are measuring torque at a specific rpm till rpm drops hence power drops.
Can do the same with b2301 Kubota ? one full turn counter clock
Did you void your warranty?
You know it
One question can you make the l3301 have more power?
Unfortunately not
@@RaztechPowersports how come?
@@thechannel9637 def. Needs to burn clean or it’ll clog. Different fuel injection system too
How do you measure the timing to see what it is for a baseline?
You have to pull the load bracket off to see the flywheel timing marks. It’s a pain
what are the max Temps for the exhaust?
when you say 1 full turn out, is that from stock?
1350 - 1400 would be considered to hot and you would want to back off the throttle / reduce the load.
Yes, one full turn out from the stock location.
so does it smoke when you load it above 10 percent and above 800 for egts?
mine is stock and I don't get an ounce if smoke from it even in stock form.
@@travisconner1581 correct, because they leaned it out to the max for emissions
@@travisconner1581 it starts to roll a little bit of coal above 1100° + with a max load
B Rad!
What do you think just adding timing without fuel would gain? Mine is set to run at 3000 rpm not sure if that makes a difference.
What engine is it? At 3000 RPMs you’re probably already at the limits honestly. The l2501 was very restricted from the factory
