    would have been nice if you had shown you "tearing the fork down" in a bit more detail?
    what did you use to compress the spring

    Would this be similar if i was doing it on a '15 streetfighter? It doesn't look that hard

    These videos are great, Well done 👍 I’ve had a 1200 multistrada before, one of the reasons I got rid, was because of the running costs, after seeing this I’ll be on the lookout for a cheaper one, I used to be a mechanic, and will enjoy doing the work!

    Great video ! I've only had to clean in between fork seals n stanchions with seal savers on my 2013 MS 1200 . Soon as the seal shows weeping , I clean it w seal savr which usually stops the weep . Thanx for the video .

    Great video. A little tip on cleaning out coolant reservoirs Depending on the size of the reservoir take like a foot long length of chain This could be the kind of chain that holds up a shop light or even more heavy duty chain for tying loads down, It Depends on the size of the reservoir. NowThrow some simple green in there and some water with it Put the cap on and shake the hell out of it
    Until all the grime on the inside it's broken loose Then just wash it out.

    mine 2014 with same forks came back from mechanic for a fork seals change and now the front forks are at least 3cm down on travel distance (front feels way lower and looks like got the same short travel as sportbike), did one ride and even the footpegs started scratching all the time on tight turns :(
    any ideia on what could've he done wrong?

    Great Video. Thank you. I just did the job on my 2011 MTS 1200ABS. The All Balls Kit 56-146, which I have ordered is wrong. I need the 56-145 Kit. Are there different Marzocchi forks? Mine is 50mm (63mm).

      @PracticalEnthusiast  2 года назад

      No - you're right. I have the wrong part number & link listed. I'm so, so sorry about that! I have now updated it to be 56-145. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don't know, sorry! The construction of these forks are very typical so the steps should be the same for your 1100, just the seals may be different.

    I have a ducati Multistrada - the forks look exactly the same. Do you know if the left and right outer fork tubes are identical? I have a bad left outer fork tube, but the left fork leg is great. I found a very cheap, complete right fork, and I want to rebuild it with new seals, throw away the right fork leg and insert my good left fork leg into the New (used) right outer fork tube. I don't see any problem, as the only difference as to right/left seems to be the lower fork legs. any thoughts on that?

  • @27freedoms
    @27freedoms 2 года назад

    Hey man - not sure if you know this but do those fork seals you have linked in Amazon work with the electronic suspension too? Thanks 🙏🏼 wouldn't be able to do this without ya!

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  2 года назад

      Hi! The electronic fork is an Ohlins one, right? I don't know if the seals are the same. The Ducati parts fiche lists the Ohlins and Marzocchi fork seals as having different part numbers. Sometimes this means they are different parts, and other times it's just a way for the manufacturer to get more money for what are exactly the same parts. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    Any idea if you can replace the 2010 dashboard with a 2016 tft screen?

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  2 года назад

      I doubt it's possible - the wiring is likely much different not to mention the security system within it won't be compatible with an older bike.

    I have found your channel recently and thank you for the videos. I have a 2015 1200s and your giving me the courage to charge ahead with additional repairs. I do have one question. Seems like you like to wrench. That is cool. I enjoy some as well. I am a bit surprised you haven't purchased an ABBA Skylift or sometime similar you can put fitting on all your bikes to easily lift them into better positions for maintenance/cleaning. Is there a reason?

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for giving the videos a watch. I've seen the ABBA stand before, and it's a sweet looking thing. I go through bikes with great frequency, ranging all makes and models. I'd have to buy every attachment they make! 😂 Eventually I'll invest in some sort of lift and it will likely be a table type for the universality of it.

      @@PracticalEnthusiast They do make an all/most model adapter kit. I don't have your problem with different bikes....well yet. Thanks again....

  • @sabi7185

    Great video! Thanks for posting this! Quick question, are all forks essentially built the same? Ofc the adjustable face spanner wrench makes Ducati shocks different, but are all the components to a fork seal the same between manufacturers?

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  4 года назад

      Thanks! The answer to your question is yes, for the most part. There are different styles of forks, such as upside down forks like these, and conventional right-side-up forks that are similar to a bicycle. Then there are damper rod forks (like these) and cartridge forks. As fark as replacing seals, the process is pretty much the same no matter what. However, I'd recommend having a service manual on hand to sort out any peculiarities of your specific fork.
