Watch Dogs is one of few games I finished 3 times, one with 100%. It's not great, but I'm still sad at hate this game is getting. I really liked it.

To be frank, Ezio. You do see a lot of your targets kill their guards.
You missed a sin, at the bar when Aiden says "I'm not a cash kind of guy" when literally the entire game you're going to ATMs taking cash out.
I assumed he said that simply just because how easy it is for him to get money so he cant be tempted by it

My biggest complaint about this game was that no matter how stealthily I played it, the storyline ended up being completely out of my control. As in, if I were careful about the mayhem (or lack thereof), Aiden would not have become known by the public or police. But nope! He ended up doing just that anyway. Way to go, Ubisoft! Way to promise everyone that playstyle matters so much in this game.
Colin Velius i think this game brought gaming in a great direction stop the whole play your way thing if you do anything that is not hacking to kill everyone then you die because the guns are shit and you are killed in 2 seconds the only game to do the play it your way is hitman were you can wear different outfits to disguise yourself and kill every one with a massive sausage then throw them in a pile that says agent 47 did here is his name address and his weakness a green fukin rock

Colin Velius Something else that really erks me is that for basically the ENTIRE GAME, everyone but your sister and Jacks knows you're the vigilante. And for the same reason, Aiden wearing a scarf/mask bothers me. Why even put it on if 99.999% of Chicago knows your outfit and who you are already?

I guess they save for a minority of games have a habit of touching on concepts rather than exploring em. You can feel the focus grouping in the end product. Well...at least the main characters are usually athletic and not clunky though.

Cadeem Musgrove It might in some places...but when he's making fun of the in-game dialog I think the subs would be more helpful than hurtful.
ProphetBeal I thought that too, but then I realized he would have to keep subs on the entire game cause he wouldn't know before hand which scenes to leave it up for. I guess he could always replay the mission or worst case scenario replay the game, but that's asking a lot.
ProphetBeal The sub thing doesn't work. Watch my Catherine video for an example. I had to stick a black box over the ingame subs to keep them from clashing with my own.

But putting the tattoo DIRECTLY OVER the tracking device in this world were hacking is done via line of sight (thus insuring people like Aiden have easy access to fuck with it) is what makes that business just a bit counterintuitive.
Honestly, it was still fun being a hacker in Watch Dogs. It's just that what we got was....unexpected (in a good and bad way), to say the least.

I disagree with Sin 3. Cyberpunk may have had its heyday with Ghost in the Shell, but it's not that bad nowadays. Just take another look at Deus Ex: Human Revolution and its upcoming successor, Mankind Divided. Human Revolution was awesome (but it has its share of sins, like with any other game), and I think it deserves its own sins video as well. However, the original Deus Ex should be sinned before Human Revolution. Just saying.
Anyway, I vote for Wolfenstein to be the next sins video.
Colin Velius seriously say that cyber punk been done well? u can't i like idea of cyber punk but its never been done good, the order, , deus ex was kind of meh. Animation its been not bad, still not great, like Desert Punk and Attack of Titans.
kyotheman69 Did you ever watch Ghost in the Shell? It's like the epitome of cyberpunk at it's best. And it was from the 90s. I think Dartigan was referring to GITS as the "heyday" of cyberpunk.
Colin Velius Deus Ex: HR was fine but it lives in the shadow of the first game. To be honest, there has not been much of any good cyberpunk fiction in any media. When I think of cyberpunk I think of things like Blade Runner, Robocop, Neuromancer, Snow Crash, and The Matrix. There hasn't been anything that I've added to that list for a while.
Dartigan Hey Dartigan, out of curiosity, what cyberpunk topics pique your interest? I was always fond of the transhumanism theme, in which humans figured out how to become better than human by augmenting themselves with technology, be it genetic modification or cybernetic prosthesis.
My tastes in Cyberpunk lay more with William Gibson and Neal Stephenson. I've always preferred the social aspect of living in worlds where governments are shadows of their former selves and corporations and criminals have all of the power.

Hacking does not uniquely mean being the person that sits in front of a monitor writing a bunch of code.
Definitions of hacking boil down to 2 things:
1. Gaining illegal access to an account or computer for malicious purposes
2. Illegally modifying computer data (a la that Counterstrike aimbot example)
Being the guy writing the code would fall under the first one, but that's not the only one that would. We don't know if Aiden helped develop the program he uses (though I think it's safe to say he probably did), but whether or not he did, he's still a hacker because he's illegally accessing government systems like the traffic grids, or personal systems like people's car breaks, with his program. That in itself isn't far-fetched, considering programs already exist that can steal Credit / Debit card data right through your wallet unless you have one with RFID protection.
Also, Aiden needed to be a, "glorified kiddie who uses premade hacking programs." If he was any closer to being what you seem to be calling a real hacker, the game would be even more dreadfully boring than it already is.
I agree. Aiden is the one who goes after the bad guys.

I personally enjoyed Watch_Dogs. Aiden was ok, but his story was complete zzzzzzz. I would've cared a little more if that was his wife and kids, and the dudes killed his daughter, but it was only his niece. Still sucks, yeah, but it made things feel a little less personal to me.
I liked Clara, Jordi, and T-Bone's characters way more. Plus, the side missions trumped the main story. I would have to play some of the main story because it unlocked new side missions.
Oh yeah, and definitely Fuck that last mission. Jesus Christ that was annoying.
You know, the "hacking sonar" thing isn't actually that far off from tracking hackers IRL: When you detect a security breach, it is likely routed through a multitude of dummy nodes and bot-nets that you have to work your way through in order to find the source computer. It's especially tricky if the hacker is experienced and has other defences installed on his dummy computers.
What's really scary is that the kind of hacking seen in the game is actually very possible and done in real life. College students (who i THINK were MIT, but I'm not sure) hacked into a huge skyscraper's security system to remotely turn the lights on and off how they pleased. they played a game of Tetris with the skyscraper that they hacked into.

Even with his few cliches, I found Lucky Quinn in particular to be a REALLY intimidating villain. Honestly, the villains in this game were all great, except mayyyyybe Iraq just for being so predictable with the briefcase scene. He was still pretty good though.

The thing that I will say about Sin 52 8:10 is this: the way I see it in my view, one of the main reasons why Aiden isn’t good at talking to women is because of the fact that he spent most of his childhood and adulthood practicing and mastering his hacking skills to get better and better over the years as he got older and during his time living in northern Belfast Ireland as a kid before his mother took him and Nicky to Chicago. his dad didn’t taught him how to talk to a woman and how to behave around them. There’s many men who are just as dark and edgy like Aiden. Underneath the aggressiveness and particular set of skills, he’s just a sad loner deep down with a broken heart that hasn’t been healed in a very long time. I bet there’s many people over the year who’ve asked themselves: what was Aiden been doing his whole life besides practicing his hacking ? Why hasn’t he found someone earlier when he younger? A great majority of women in Chicago would most likely manipulate Aiden to get what they want base off how smart he really is and not love him for what he does for them which is why he has trust issues to where he never got himself a women during his time as he was growing up because In Aiden’s mind: he believes many of the women in Chicago will back stab or betray him the second he trusts them.
You know what’s ironic is that Ubisoft actually consulted a Russian anti hacker organization to see if they’re depictions of hacking were realistic or not.

There was a lot of stuff done right with Watch Dogs, it mostly filled my checklist with the stuff I want in games, so naturally this was one of my favourites. I still don't understand why everyone hated it. People are always complaining about wanting new game mechanics and such, this game did it.

Because, in the E3 (E3 is a gaming convention where they show off new games) gameplay trailer, we saw improved graphics, better UI, not dull gameplay, etc. The retail version was fucking horrible and didn't include the features promised in the E3 trailer.

Can I just say that of all the gaming sins you should have way more subscribers I mean it irritates me that most of them do exactly what cinema sins does so I appreciate that you try to add something new to the mix of it and I would love for more sins go towards gameplay itself considering a story only makes up for a part of the game itself

Beyond Good and Evil, such an underrated game from Ubisoft, a classic imo. Ubisoft have been up and down the [past two years, they've had great games, IE Rayman Legends, Far Cry 3 and 4, I enjoyed Watch Dogs, but it had it's share of problems and sins, South Park, but then their's the milking of Assasins Creed, and the completely broken Assasins Creed Unity, don't get me started with The Crew, that sucked big time. A lot of hits and misses from Ubisoft these days. Also to the Ubisoft dev that said 60fps looks weird and 30 is better, quit being a developer, lol

For sin 114 you said the player was wearing the same outfit well I noticed that 1. There is clothing stores around in the game so the reason he's wearing the same outfit is not the games fault it's the players for not changing it and 2. So your saying our character lucked out and got a limited edition outfit that no other fixer that also wants to conceal their identity and shoped at the same store could have got ...wow who knew that trench coat was so rare
Most of these sins were either 'lol I r funny' or 'I didn't pay attention to the plot at all'. Add skipping the post credits sequence at the end.

Truly you did speak for everyone who ever played the game when you said “Fuck this mission. Fuck this mission in particular.” It took me probably four hours to finally beat it and I died every time I finally hacked one of the boxes.
Yes, It is a game and the hacks are pretty exagerrated. the idea in watch_Dogs and watch_dogs 2 is that they already have a backdoor into CTOS's system. From there he could write an app to connect to that backdoor and execute commands. I dont understand your criticism of him using the app. That does not make him a script kiddie.. Why in the world would you keep exploiting the same vaulnerability to reconnect to a system when you can plant a backdoor and reconnect. The idea is get in, gain persistence and clean up. A script kiddie has little to no technical background and hacks by using other people's scripts they kinda just hope will work. Aiden is no script kiddie.
Aiden being at the the merlot job was not redundant or defeating the purpose as you say. Hackers will go on site to connect to wireless networks and from there they do something like arp spoofing to redirect network traffic through their device and act as a man in the middle to steal people's info. Sometimes, if you can't break into a network externally, you can always go on site and try to attack their wireless network. from what i see in the intro, Aiden connects to the network and has his partner at a pc using a reverse ssh tunnel do the hacking of the network. Im assuming aiden connected to their guest wifi. in which case, The merlot is dumb to have their guest network connected to their production network. Im making this assumptuon because we dont see aiden having to hack the wifi by perhaps capturing a handshake with a deauth attack and trying to crack the key.Furthermore, cracking a psk or any password/hash from phone hardware would not be optimal. Even if the production network was logically segregated using something like vlans, there are ways to hop vlans on a layer 2 device. If you not, you need access to the layer 3 device such as a router or layer 3 switch and add the routes between subnets and disable any restricting or implicit deny ACLs.
What im trying to say is the merlot sequence does not deserve a sin. the game isnt a hacking course and is meant to be taken with a grain of salt. despite this, ubisoft tried at least to put some thought into the actual hacking instead of just having aiden show up, pop out his phone and say "I bypassed the firewall, hngh these guys are good. I'm in".
tl:dr, aiden is not a script kiddie. the hacking is not as absurdly portrayed as most media does.

Can someone please explain to me how pre-made hacking programs make Aiden a "glorified script kiddie"? If Aiden were to personally write the code for the hacking programs, wouldn't that verify his technological know-how? I mean, sure, pre-made programs would make him seem lazy, but I'm pretty certain that such programs would not be easy to make.

Colin Velius it's been a while since I played the beginning of the game, but I recall having the impression he didn't write it. At the very least, the phone you use throughout most of the game was flashed by Clara early on. Aiden seems more like an in-the-field grunt.
