We need Stewart Lee in the U.S. to satirize our culture and politics. On second thought, who in the U.S. would understand him? He's so brilliant he transcends the genre of stand-up. Riotously funny and bitingly true.
Stewie is indeed a comedy genius in his own time and space - indeed before his time. I was on the same bill as him in a comedy/music club back in the 80s where he got the ‘hook’ because the organiser’s wife thought he was disrespectful to the audience. Tbh, I wasn’t really listening or watching cos I was too nervous about my own performance so when I was pushed on stage before I was due to be, I was somewhat taken aback. I have only belatedly been able to appreciate his comedy genius. Looking forward to watching this show !
