    So many people with larger vans don’t realise that the overhang is ALWAYS in danger of grounding!…and they frequently do! If I was going to open a business , it would be “ Harry’s overhang repair shop” at Applecross!! I’d make a fortune! Lovely filming and commentary from you both.

    Great video of Bealach na Bà that look as bad as Hard Knot Pass thanks for sharing. P.s. Aurora predicted today tomorrow or Friday almost an X class flare erupted Tuesday biggest there is.

      We've been over Hardknott a couple of times, the road is tricky and the views beautiful, but not as epic as Bealach na Bà.
      We wish we could see the aurora, but st Bees head is to the north of us and blocks any sky views northwards 😫🐕🚙

    Loved the video and have been following many of your series after stumbling on them this week.
    It brought back so many memories, as my two boys and I travelled the same coastal route as you did to Applecross, but we parked up to stay overnight before Applecross (a car with a roof tent), unfortunately, the Scottish secret weapon, the wee midges, found a small hole in the pivot joint of the tent and we were eaten alive that night. A morning drive to the beach before Applecross was a must to jump into the water to relive our itches.
    The next year, we took a VW camper and went the otherway up the pass. Now that was a stressful way to go, but your using te costal route is the best way, just go past the bottom entrance of the pass and follow the Apple cross costal route then you have a great costal drive and the descent. Well worth it.

      Thank you for coming along with us and we definitely did Applcross pass the right way. We'll done you for tackling the climb and like you said, the views coming down the pass are stunning. The wee midges got us too. Mainly me. They fly over Bernie to get to me lol 😁🐕🚙

    We absolutely loved this part of our trip, stayed at the campsite at Applecross, and enjoyed fish and chips outside the pub. We travelled the same direction as you Tina, and thought that road going to Applecross was quite tricky in places. We got up early the next day an£ travelled over the pass without a single vehicle anywhere to be seen - It was awesome. Thanks for sharing your trip, didn’t make it to Plockton, so looking forward to your next video 😁

    Hi, Help please. my husband and I have watched your early videos and loved them all,when you first got your chapel motor homes conversion and like you before we had an Amdro, and we were hooked on getting a chapel conversion instead, well we had the double in house conversion done with the extras (not cheap)and asked for the swivel seat and solar panel also, my husband hired a car as we live a long way from them and they had our car for a week for the conversion, I was so angry and disappointed when he came home with our new micro camper, As Julie fitted the swivel seat and it was a week later that we found the passenger air bag wasn't reconnected,Dangerous or what!!! she also did the full set of curtains only for us to notice she left our window insulation on the rear side windows and had the window boxes fitted on top and no curtains.There was lots of minor bad workmanship throughout the build of the conversion which we were not happy about, and the roof cross bars that they fitted overhang the sides of our camper surely they shouldn't and as for the top box well it's big and can only open from the rear of the camper very difficult and there is no room for to fit a solar panel next to it, so we will have to replace the cross bars/the roof box, But to top all that they didn't fit the solar panel and didn't ring us to tell us this, Julie told my husband we didn't have time but not worry you can bring it back another time, I am so glad I wasn't with him on collection. But what I would like to know from you please is that our two side seat boxes were not bolted in,but the bolts were inside the seats lose, now the connecting bolts not a problem to figure them out, so we did them and found they left them out because it has bought the seat box and the rear box so tight together you have to force the lid on the seats to lift up, the other two floor bolts with a handle, they have a piece of gas pipe on the screw bit of the bolt and when put in the seat fixing hole it's totally lose it does not tighten up at all and you can just lift it out no effort, so it's not holding the seat box to the floor, Do you know if something is missing and how should we try to secure the seat box to the floor please???????? ANY ideas welcome.We have got a few more issues but I think I've said enough, I definitely would not recommend them for a in house conversion to anyone, Julie seemed so nice and helpful on the phone and said they would do everything we wanted and all the extras in 2 or 3 days even though the booking was at short notice 3wks.We now have the major headache of trying to find someone to fit a solar system for us, no luck so far.I haven't rang Julie at Chapel Motor Homes as I don't want to say something I might regret. As you can probably tell I'm still angry and upset with it all. P.S keep up the with the videos your both so informative and a joy to watch, Thank you.

      Oh my word, we're so sorry to hear that you have so many issues with your recent Chapel Motorhomes Double conversion. Our kit is now over 2 years old, came on a pallet in kit form which we fitted ourselves, we can only think by what you describe that they may have changed their design somewhat.
      We really do suggest that you do get back in touch with Julie. Chapel need to know how dissatisfied you are with the work.
      In the meantime, if you'd like to discuss it further with us to check for differences between our kit and yours, please do send us an email and we'll do our best to help shed some light on things. kchuswitt@gmail.com.
      Once again, we're really sorry to hear you're experiencing so many issues with the conversion.

      Definitely. Those views!
      The guy driving the large motorhome we got speaking to said..."I'll be alright...I'll be alright.. I'll be alright". He was. Had to do a bit of a dance on the hairpins, but he made it.
      It was quiet when we did it too, although we did pass to campervans travelling in convoy on their way up...not a good idea.

    Just started watching your videos and really enjoy them! A little hard to hear your voices in the car, but the narration is great. What is the name of the orange bushes that seem to be all over Scotland and areas you've travelled? Thanks for sharing your trips!

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Karen thanks for watching. Yes, about the audio. You and we're sure lots of other viewers will be pleased to hear we've just purchased some microphones.. Yey! It's been a frustrating issue to us too, but being retired we had to save up to buy some.
      The bushes you're referring to are called gorse and it's very common in coastal areas. We have it here to at home and the smell of coconut is heavenly! Thanks again and please stick with with us, but please bear in mind, the remainder of our Scottish Adventure sound will be prior to the mics purchase. Thanks again for coming along. 😊🐕🚙

    Hi folks been watching your videos for a while I'm hoping you can help out. I see at one point you used a overhead storage net for going over the front seats of the car. Do you remember where you got it please? I don't want to make a storage shelf & think that may suit but I'm struggling to find the correct size.

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. Thanks for watching our videos.
      With regards to the overhead cargo net. We bought it from Amazon. We've checked back and unfortunately, its no longer available. The stretched is 110 x 50 cms. We have since purchasing it put a cup hook in the central plug in the headcloth to stopping it sagging, as we do tend to over stuff it. Have you seen the video of how we fixed it.
      ruclips.net/video/m3iJG9HxduM/видео.htmlsi=4SeS5XBH862-DD3d Sorry we couldn't be of more help. 🙂🐕🚙

    Hi Tina, Bernie and Blue.
    Mike and Fiona here, from your Stromness video. Unlike you we got some glorious weather, sea swims and when the wind dropped, kayak lots of exploration of sea caves on Shetland. Brilliant holiday.
    Anyway my daughter just bought a Berlingo multispace! Swivel plate on order from Chapel, thanks for the tip.
    Question, if I could pick your brains, did you strip out the roof lining and side trim to insulate, or is it really not necessary?

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  9 месяцев назад

      Well hello there. How lovely to hear from you and we trust you're both well.
      Honestly, we just knew we'd left Shetland too early. Sounds like you had a ball.
      With regards to insulation in the van. To be honest, we were originally at the start, trying not to change anything, drill holes etc. In order to keep it as duel purpose car/camper. We can still remove our 2 side benches and replace the rear seats if we need to. So it's still not yet a dedicated camper.
      So no insulation. We have camped in temperatures as low as -5 with no heating offgrid, although we do have a small oil filled radiator if on site hookup. We do get condensation on any bear metal around the doors overnight, but nothing much. Guess carpeting thise parts would help with that.
      So it really depends how far your daughter wants to go.
      We wish you all the best fir the conversion and have a great Christmas and New Year 👍🐕🚙

    • @MikeBeattie-hr4on
      @MikeBeattie-hr4on 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for that. Insulating isn't a problem but removing and replacing the headlining and side and door panels is a right royal pain. The concern with condensation really was the unseen areas like the roof, and the water puddling and gathering. Great to hear you don't get problems.
      As a plus, she works full time so her camping usage won't come close to yours. Decision made I think.
      Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. Hope to meet up again sometime.
      Regards and a wee ear scratch to Blue

      Hi guys. Received the swivel plate today. Boy, that's a heavy bit of kit! Anyway, excited to get it fitted. Can't say the instructions are that clear, so I shall be watching Bernie step by step. They really should give you commission and put a link to your fitting video on their instructions.
      Thank you so much for posting.
      Mike and Fiona.

    • @the-other-windsors
      @the-other-windsors  9 месяцев назад

      @MikeBeattie-hr4on You're not wrong it's heavy!! Don't know what we do without ours now. Honestly, undoing the airbag clip, kept us amused... not... for ages.
      Chapel did ask if they could use our fitting video. Ensure to watch the video first. It would be easier we think to trim the seat plastic, before putting it back on the car, as we found out.
      Wishing you all the best.
      Take care
      Tina, Bernie and Blue 😊🐕🚙

      Thanks. In our Buddy Berlingo not a problem, wouldn't fancy it in a 7m motorhome. However after a bit of jiggering around, the one in front was OK 😊🐕🚙
