Join us as Brayden walks through the EG4 LiFePOWER4 Communication Hub. The 48V EG4 LiFePOWER4 batteries are a staple of budget-friendly backup systems, and they can now be upgraded even further with EG4's all-new LiFePOWER4 Communication Hub.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The LiFePOWER4 Communication Hub adds many quality of life improvements to a 48V LiFePOWER4 battery bank, such as:
Up to 30 LiFePOWER4 batteries in closed loop communication!
Lots of selectable BMS protocols, including Victron, Schneider, Growatt, and Sol-Ark!
Read-out information on a screen for the bank’s data, as well as individual batteries by address number!
Ability to communicate via CAN protocols! Наука
Rather than buying more stuff, mightn't it be better to get the major producers in a room and agree on a single protocol?
Have been using mine for a week with a sol ark 15 k and it is working greatusing 5 life power 4 batteries
Sooooooooooooo.......what is the max voltage do you have set? Of you are higher than the recommended float of 54.2 your BMSs will error every day the batteries go full.
Nice, great job bringing order to the COMM space between inverters and batteries. Sorely needed
We're glad we could help!
Are there written instructions about how to connect the Communications Hub to a Victron Cerbo GX? The EG4 website only contains firmware for the Comm Hub, not a link to a manual.
I need help troubleshooting mine can't get past the BMS Test Setup
Does it have an internal web server to manage everything?
After I plug My Hub to 48V EG4 battery, It still does not read the battery. No info regarding the battery show up on the HUB. Do I need to install anything on the MicroSD card or do anything besides plugging RJ45 cable from Battery to the Hub?
Are the RJ45 connections standard ethernet connection configuration? I may need longer cables.
What do you need to pair an ecoflow battery to communicate with an ecoflow inverter?
There are only 16 dip switch settings, so not sure how to handle 18 lifepowers I have.
The "Fireman" 😎
SMA SI inverters and eg4ll ver 2 batteries, is this comma hub essential get them communicating and operating properly?
Will this hub make my eg4 batteries work better with my Growatt 12 k ...
Not clear instructions!! What kind of cable to connect communication hub to insighthome? That cable you using looks like it is modified. I purchased same equipment along with rs485 cable and follow your instructions and it won’t detect anything.
Need a 24V version!!!!!
Stay tuned!
Finally
Nice. Would something like this work with solar assistant or some other smart solar app?
Not currently.
@@eg4electronics just got the hub and my Sol-ark finally can communicate with my EG4 batteries. However, I seem to have lost the ability to monitor each battery individually with Solar Assistant. I think they're both trying to be host perhaps ? Allowing Sol-ark to work via canbus and solar Assistant via RS-485 port 3, would be amazing ! If that's a possibility.
I was under the impression the Sol-Ark 15k directly supported the EG4-LL, would you need this hub with a rack of 6 EG4's?
No, you would not!
Is there an advantage to the hub if you have EG4 Life power4 batteries connected to an EG4 18kPV? If so, what?
Do the battery racks really need to be wired diagonally to balance the battery cycling? Don’t the batteries communicate with each other to do that regardless?
Is there such an item for EG4-LL (V1), or does the updated firmware provide the same functionality?
Following.... I have both V1's and V2's with upgraded firmware. While the batteries communicate, the SOC never is correct between batteries and my SolArk and effects charging. Do i need this comms hub to provide better communication?
Yes I would be interested to know if this would work with EG4 LL V1 batteries and Schneider XWPRO 6848
The hub is only compatible with the LiFePOWER4 model.
@@oks3ranch I've got the batteries doing close loop to my xw pro. I'm trying to figure out why we'd need this...
@@JeffPalmer941 I recently got my EG4 LL V1 batteries working with the XW PRO in closed loops also. I want to use SOC control for Enhanced Grid Support "starting stoping selling", etc.
If you are having issues here are some things to try.... 1. BMS battery firmware has to be upgraded to v3.21 or higher. 2. Once the BMS is upgraded the baud rate in the settings of the hub have to be changed to 19200. 3. On the hub, dip switch r1 should be down, r2 up. 4. The mac software to upgrade battery bms is buggy. I had to try 10 times to upgrade the BMS. BattInfo screen works well. Upgrade does not. After all that, set battery dip switches to a non zero value. My Victron Multiplus II is now talking. Thank you signature solar for the help! Closed loop achieved! Also, Victron will use the BMS can data over their smart shunt values in the VRM screens. Be sure you have the special victron cam cable to hub. Hub to battery uses cat 5.
I'm trying to get my Comm port to talk to my Victron Cerbo GX. Changing Baud rate to 19200 fixed some problems but I can't see all 6 batteries yet and the Cerbo can't see anything. Where did you get reference info on the Hub DIP switch positions? What do they do? Thanks!
I have 16 Lifepower4 Batteries and intend to add more - would it work to configure 'bank 1' with the battery dip switches set to addresses 1-8, and set dip switches exactly the same on 'bank 2'...? or would there be an address conflict?
Does it work with Midnight Rosie ?
Will this work with sungold power inverters? Sp6548 ?
Just got mine in the mail. What port do you plug into the computer off the hub?
IT WON'T TALK TO ALL OF MY BATTERIES. 7 OUT OF 11. CHECK DIP SWITCHES AND MADE CHANGES HOW MANY TIME'S. WON'T WORK ON SOME OF MY BATTERS.
@@bigblockcutlass123 I have 12 batteries and they're all detected. Start your DIP switch addresses with the first battery set to 2, the next battery to 3, then 4, etc, according to the manual. I've had this configuration for Solar Assistant and it's been working just fine. The problem I'm having with the EG4 hub now, is when I have it also connected to the batteries, Solar Assistant can no longer read the battery data. This is not good, as I still want to monitor each battery AS WELL as communicate with the hub (to Sol-Ark). I've had to disable the hub for now, as monitoring the batteries is more important than closed loop with inverter. I'm hoping either Solar Assistant or EG4 can figure something out for this to work, simultanously.
@@trevormann4751 I did a firmware update on the batteries that wouldn't talk do. Now I have all 11 batteries.
@@bigblockcutlass123 Great to hear !
@@trevormann4751 Get rid of the factory sd card and get a good one, Format it 32 fat. Mine would not start up because of the sd card went bad
Can you communicate with the hub using a macbook pro?
We've just released a new version of BMS Test that can be used by MacOS and communicates with the hub. Until this goes live on our website, please contact your distributor for access to the program!
Would this hub create a bridge for a Growatt Inverter to be able to communicate with Victron OS?
No.
@@eg4electronics Bummer! I wish someone would come up with something that does this.
I have the SUNGOLDPOWER 48VDC 6500W SP6548 which Will Prowse claims runs the same software as the MPP LV6548. Will the EG4 LiFePOWER4 Communications Hub enable communication between my EG4 LifePower4 48VDC Battery and my SP6548 inverter?
Will this be available for the 24 volt version?
Maybe, stay tuned!!
Will it connect to outback FX models....
Not currently.
Do I ever hate , HATE, dealing with the never works dip switches on these batteries.
Bought this in hopes maybe they have their crap together, nope same. Never sees more than 2 batteries at once. Wasted so many hours with this. Save your money buy anything but eg4. If you can't figure out consistent addressing with dip switches , perhaps other enterprises beakon.
