So helpful thank y’all so much never learned anything from my dad or family so having to do it all myself through videos and trial and error and y’all are definitely the best source yet definitely watching the rest of your webinar videos thanks again!
Question for Tony, you said the swim bait is a great search bait , so do you stick with it after you find the fish? Question for Wyatt, how do you know if you have out enough wait on your suspended mirror lure to hit 18-22 feet in those Carolina creeks ?
If the fish continue to bite the swimbait, stick with it. You'll likely have to experiment with different weights until you feel the vibrations and it swims properly deeper in the channel. Keep trying things out there - something is bound to work!
Good Info, but, I wish you would have covered spoons and diamond jigs. Also, are spinner baits and buzz baits just for freshwater, or, are there times when those might work inshore?
Ill start by saying Im not some super angler nor do I play one online. In my experience, buzz, chatter, and spinners work well inshore (I fish for reds, specks, and flounder). I have found almost all lures and soft plastics work equally well in either environment. Fishing the upper Texas coast marshes, bayous, and bays I can hook a red on one cast and a large mouth on the next using the same bait.
My dad taught me to work a Rapala the way you guys work paddle tails and shad "jerkbaits" except the pause in the "twitch twitch pause" causes it to float up and sit. In hot summer days we didn't twitch again until the ripples were gone if it was dead flat. So I also was confused when people were saying "jerk baits" about soft plastics.
I'll typically use Hard Plastic jerk / rip baits when it's fairly windy and grass isn't too heavy and I'm fishing in 2 feet of water or more. Soft plastic jerkbait's when conditions are calm, shallow or weeds/grass are in play. As far as Hard Plastic jerk / rip baits go...Bomber Long A's still work amazing and so do Rapala x rap's (both are affordable). As far the more spendy stuff I'll throw Mega Bass Vision 110's and the Lucky Craft Pointer's too. As far as wake baits go the Mann's Baby 1 minus / Ghost Minnow color(it's translucent) can be a decent bait early in the morning along beaches and real shallow flats.
Very much agree. Also I just wish fishing RUclipsrs would understand how confusing it can be when they use such l terminology so loosely and interchangeably. The point of the video was presumably to help offer some insight and clarity into a concept that is very nuanced and complex for newer anglers, but like 8 minutes into the video I’m thinking ok so these guys are also unclear on crank vs jerk, and a swim bait is “any soft plastic with a tail that provides some kind of action”….then a couple mins later talking about how the action on their soft plastic jerk bait was totally altered by the tail being removed. Sounds like jerk baits can also be soft plastics with tails that provide action…fml

@@SaltySeaCaptain If you actually think it's funny then you need help, he doesn't say it to be funny. He says it cause he thinks it's catchy. But it's corny. But I'm sure you do think it's funny just like you think fart smuggler is funny. It is if your 8 years old.
Can u guys put a timestamp on your longer video, it's much less appealing to watch an hour long raw video in comparison with a short and summarised RUclips video.

The live target thick tails like that are called wedge tails
This is information I want.
What lure is the 5th one in the picture. The lipped lure with a mullet paint job
Great content from the Salt Strong team!!!
Jerk bait and crank bait are different. Crank bait is fished with the reel. jerk bait is with the rod!
Thanks for watching!
The Paul Brown has a unique name that doesnt get confused....Corky.
50:30 lmao the shameless plug is my favorite
Great job 👍
It's a boot style tail
Good for creeping on the bottom in the winter time very slow
Would have been better if you had close ups of the various baits. Some consensus among you guys also.
Thanks for the feedback!

The other name for the "thumper" tail is pulse tail
