Talking about keeping a boondocking journal, and (about half way through the video) I talk about the foods that I like to eat on the road as well as what to stay away from.
its so funny, in this video you were stoked to have 350 subs and now you have over 73k subs, it's incredible how much you channel has grown. you are considered one of the most popular rv youtuber on youtube lol...congrats erick...keep up the great work and don't listen to the haters, there just jealious, safe travels erick and JAX
If you haven't tried camping at a casino yet, give it a shot. My wife and have found that almost all casinos allow overnight rv parking. We aren't gamblers, but we sign up for the free slot play at their players club and generally leave with $10-$20 more than we came with plus a free couple nights stay.
Eric...I have been in my trailer one month now because of divorce...and i just have to say...between you...Pippi...Carolyn...Bob...and Static Camper Van guy...RV living just ain't all that bad...i just enjoy each one of you so much...and just want to say thanks...for your inspiration and knowledge...Dave
I think your boondocking journal is a super idea! You might think of publishing an e-book on Amazon. As for the lighting? Hey?! You're boondocking. I shows people who never have boondocked the realities of the road. Stay safe out there...
Your attitude & outlook regarding not over-using any particular spot, makes it easier for all of we full time boondockers ~ thanks so much! It's the whole "leave no trace" philosophy. Very right on :) Good tip on the portable washer (in previous video), hadn't heard of one of these before. Thanks! Hikercrone
What a really cool channel ! I stumbled across it but glad I did. Something I've always wanted ta do but I'm trapped in a 9-5 job. Maybe one day but thanks for letting me live vicariously thru you! Keep the cool vids coming and thanks!
Just wanted to say Hi, I have skipped around and watched lots of your videos. I think your cancer is just awesome. My husband and I are going full time thing very soon. Your info has been a great inspiration.
Really enjoying the videos. Started from your first one and slowly making my way through them all. Me and the Mrs would love to do what your doing and hopefully it will become a reality before long.
Love your selection of food lol im not a bachelor but i love those types of food hahaha stay safe thanks for sharing your life and best wishes to you and Jax always :D
I'm a recent subscriber and just wanted to see how it's like to live in an RV and travel. I really hot hooked on your videos. Keep up the awsome work:)
Eric this is one of your older VIDEOS i really enjoyed seeing again you&Jaxs have alot of Miles of Fun thanks so much for SHARING YOUR life on the road
Hi just wanted to say I've been watching some of your videos which have been great so I'm now working through your playlist from the start :) I have a motorhome here in Scotland do lots of wildcamping (boondocking) just not full time. love the channel just wanted to say hi :)
Just found your RUclips channel and have only watched three videos so far. Thoroughly enjoyed them so far. I too use paper and plastic utensils. A lot easier for clean up and to conserve water. I also only boondock. In the two years I have been RVing part time I have never stayed at a campground. Keep the videos coming. Very informative so far.
Really good video. I am researching the RV life, because I'd like to try RVing in the future. It's not in the cards right now, but I love all the videos that I've seen about RVs, campers, and tiny houses. Though your videos seem more real to me than some of the others.
First week 350 subscribers, and look at Nomadic Fanatic now! 131K If you haven't already, would you share your boondocking journal of places you have been that is positive experience? I know things chance as this video is 3 years old, but, I am interested in safe places with extras
A lot has changed over the years! Wow I do actually update my map and pin the locations we hit on the road into my website at www.nomadicfanatic.tv if you want to see my "journal" these days. :)
Hey Eric, I stumbled across your RUclips story. My husband and are are not full timers....yet. But we did an 8 month, winter season in FL and are currently spending another winter on the road in a tricked out Chevy Van. We are a retired couple married 40 years, pushing 60 years old and love this lifestyle. I so relate to much of what you say and do, but of course we also have our own unique way of doing things as well. Thanks for sharing your story and keeping it real. So enjoy your posts.
Im hooked on your videos im from Spain and love your way of life i think that the way you start every video with that image of you driving your RV says it all your face speaks for you , keep up the good work.
Great channel. I just discovered you and i'm hoping to do the full time RVing thing in another year or so. Hope to learn more from you. Cheers from Canada :)
FYI go to your dollar store or even Wal-mart, and they have a new sponge now that is a scrubber that many things will not stick too. I love the trains, when moving to KC, first place I was in had track right across the street from me, behind the neighbors house, first few days were hard, then I got to where it relaxed me..go figure. Now I hear them in distance and still relaxes me.
i love the format of your vid updates. you don't try to make a big show out of the rv life. it just every day life. i too have watched all the videos and it has become a every day thing for me to check for new. so keep them coming. and keep them real!!
Just to let you know, there's also free wifi at the Burger King in Delray Beach, Florida. The Burger King is located at W. Atlantic Ave off of Military Trail in Delray Beach, Florida. Stay safe and keep on traveling!
I love your videos Eric and have done for years, especially these older less polished ones if I’m honest, but they’re all good! With over 160K subscribers now, unlike when you made this video, you realise why RUclipsrs don’t always respond. Thank you for helping to inspire me to get a campervan😊
Do all motorhomes have to be level within 3 degrees for the propane stove and heater to work? I just bought an RV and this is the first time I've ran across this bit of info. Thanks. I'm watching all your videos in a row right now. Thanks for making them. The wife and I are getting ready to start boon docking in our new to us Class A motorhome in Los Angeles of all places.
Eric, which resource do you use most or all the time to power your Fridge and what kind of consumption as a result????Please answer this one my wife and I are full timing but still learning. Whats the most cost effective method?
When I was in Aberdeen in early 90s there were lots of murals on the buildings. I remember train paintings and whale paintings. Did they make it to 2014?
BTW, I discovered that the Precision Induction Cooktops are great power savers for RVs and a wonderful way to cook, as they operate at relatively low power and can be run off a small generator or even a good inverter. Stuff heats fast and evenly and you can control the heat so precisely its easier not to burn or over cook stuff so a lot less mess.
+Brenda Kachelmeyer Yes! Still filming on the road. If you are only up to this video so far, you better get the popcorn and get caught up before I head out again!
A trick I learned from other boondockers: If I boondock at Walmart, a mall or downtown and do happen to patronize one or two of the stores in the area I leave the sack/s next to the door with the merchandise in them with a receipt in case anyone questions why I'm in the area. I have proof that I'm shopping. Local merchants don't want paying customers harassed or chased off especially these days in a tough economy. Love the idea of the boondocking journal. I agree with the other comments that you could publish that in a blog or e-book and make it a great income resource that is if you want to share the info. Wouldn't blame you for keeping it to yourself though.
Hi, Eric. For coffee, I use a French press mug. Fresh ground coffee in, then hot water, steep about 5 minutes, and push the plunger. Great cup of coffee. Look up "Big Sky Bistro" on Google or Amazon. Amazon has for about $20 and some REI stores have them in stock. To get rid of the grounds, I put a little water in, swirl, and fling the slurry out on a lawn or under a bush. Works great.
I'm buying a 1987 E350 sterling 24' with a 460 C.I engine. that is in very good condition. This will be my first RV ever, I know nothing about Rv's. But I have been interested for a long time and I am finally getting one. What is the lenght of your RV and what can I expexct to get for fuel mileage 6 to 8 mpg ? P.s your video are great
you can also go to the public library, and watch free dvds, or check them out, or take your laptop inside any restaurant, and charge, and watch tv while you are eating, reading, drinking your coffee,etc..starbucks, and ithink tacobell als have free wifi..or you can buy a wifi extenter for $50. its a wifi antena for longer range ..
I appreciate that you respond to every comment. Especially now that you have 6752 subscribers!! Wow that's awesome! Bachelor foods for the win! LOL, everyone seems to just hate instant coffee. 5pm is definitely an odd time for a restaurant to close!
I miss the old you lol Not saying I don't like how far you've come and how big your channel is now, (2020) but since I am now , where you were in these earlier videos, I can relate better. Lol I've been watching you since the early days and even till this day, I find myself going back to watch the old videos. Hope your doing well.
Your method of boondocking at Walmart is spot on. I agree. No pullouts or bbq please hahaha we had a notice on our windshield once.. Fo sho, we left the next morning. However, we got coffee and a few things from Walmart before we left so I feel we gave $$$ for staying the night. Cheers
Hey Eric, are you able to get points at the Love's truck stop? I notice more truck drivers going to Love's more than any other truck stop. If you go to Love's often, I suggest you pick up a card to swipe every time you get gas. I drove truck over the road for about a year and was a big fan of food.. particulary buffets and The Big Texan in Amarillo, TX off the I-40.. it's a steak house that will give you a free 72oz steak if you can eat it in one hour.
hey my friends call me lala, I am a new owner of a very old shasta camper. Im currently in oklahoma going to nebraska and then florida. Im really enjoying your videos your only the secound I ever commented on. Im ft retired and am single recently got a puppy that will be traveling with me. Im very excited to live this adventure.
Hi Lala, I'm Valeri. So happy to run into a female on this journey - like I'm about to be! I'm putting things in motion now to make it happen (albeit on a very small timeline, but I don't have any choices in the matter, unfortunately). I have 2cats who are very important to me & I'd never go anywhere without them, so they play a HUGE role in the choices I'm making (all that is another matter entirely - for another time). For now, just wanted to say 'HEY"! Good luck & hope to keep in touch with ya :) ~Peace
I hope you'll switch to 'real' food, the stuff on the perimeter of any grocery like vegetables, salad, fruit, fish/meat. Buy a small, cheap crockpot/slo cooker and throw in a combination of veg and mea you'll eat and plug it in overnight. By morning you'll have 4 dinners and 1 lunch, easy peasy & healthy
I've viewed quite a few of your videos now. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and uploading them on YT. Now can you make more videos of Jax the Cat, because that cat is a riot!
Good for you Eric...I do that as well! ( I agree with you...I feel bad when I see how so many people with thousands or hundreds of thousands don't make an effort to at least answer some or make a video to answer what many want to know! :)) The journal is such a great idea! :))
hello from florida, enjoy the lifestyle for as long as you can. i read the other day a good source for food cheap is go to a deli and buy ends of deli meats and cheeses . they usually don't slice and use the ends for customers
Hmm kinda like that place is just there covering for what they really do. So many better foods for ya. I do enjoy watching you,I am going back and watching your older videos. I like to see how van lifers start out.
Nomadic Fanatic Instead of canned tomato sauces, use plain canned tomatoes or stewed tomatoes. Wipe your plates, bowls pans with paper towels before washing.
Very good video. Get some ear plugs for the noise. Walmart has the orange ones for around $2 for a pack of them. Maybe the resturaunt is a front or something. Only staying open to be on the books while doing something else they should not be doing. You got a good amount of food. And yes enjoy the warm weather for me since it's freezing ba!!s here.
Congrats on those subscriptions! I think you choosing a good name has a lot to do with that too. I still use my old dog kennel name on my account as I've not changed it. My RVing also includes sharing my life with my show dogs, so it is kind of a weird category. The RV world & show dog world tend to clash! Unfortunately, more on the RV world side of things. I don't use much for paper products as I would rather stay more ecology minded, so I wash my dishes instead. Great idea on that journal. I like boondocking when it's possible. WM has never been free for me, I always buy stuff! ;-)
Wow. I am very impressed of what you are doing and I understand everything you say, but I would like to try this RV but I kive in uk and I would like to be stationary to have a little garden with food...Well done..
Great video, thanks for sharing. Is there anyone travelling in similar circumstances in australia who shares these experiences I wonder. I can't seem to find any.
love watching ur videos new to ur chanel...i want to live like u i just dnt know how to start...family thinks im crazy but i hate being in one place too long
KD was here! I like your idea about blogging about locations you can stay. Is there such a thing as a book or online resource where folks can list and look up camping locations. Maybe you could start one? Just a thought... Keep up the good work!
Hi Eric I think that I saw on one of your vids a washing machine for clothes it was real small can you please give me a link to the one you use Regards George
well, you could better...... but I get it it's the way young people do it. I've have added you to my top 10 list of on the road advise section cuz you have your system down pretty sand well...... and my wife and I being new to this we need the basics first and then later as a good refresher. keep it rolling and stay safe! now back to your video... Milton and Jodi Denver, Colorado
Before you advise paper products, travel through a papermill town. You'll never forget it. I love your tip videos. It's funny watching your first videos, after watching all of them. You've learned so much over the years. I think it would be good to do a 'what I've learned' video. When I watched your videos the first time, I found myself giving the screen advice. Lol. "No, don't do that, Eric!" Then, a few videos later, you'd say it was a mistake. :)
its so funny, in this video you were stoked to have 350 subs and now you have over 73k subs, it's incredible how much you channel has grown. you are considered one of the most popular rv youtuber on youtube lol...congrats erick...keep up the great work and don't listen to the haters, there just jealious, safe travels erick and JAX

Thanks, love your work. Freedom and fun are priceless.

Have you checked out "Changing Lanes"? They're a fun couple.
Also, "Avion Awesome" does great RV Park reviews.
Good luck and safe travels! 😁
This may one of my more favorite channels. I am seriously considering living in an rv, and the journal is brilliant
Love your work. I'm back in my van for the 3rd time in a few weeks. Good to see how it can be good.
I think your boondocking journal is a super idea! You might think of publishing an e-book on Amazon. As for the lighting? Hey?! You're boondocking. I shows people who never have boondocked the realities of the road. Stay safe out there...

I'm a recent subscriber and just wanted to see how it's like to live in an RV and travel. I really hot hooked on your videos. Keep up the awsome work:)
Wow a journal of places stayed is such a great idea for new life living in my van!! Cheers!!!!

We just discovered your channel. Thanks for documenting your adventures
Awesome video eric! thank u so much.
Great advice about avoiding the tomato sauce. Thanks.

very cool man.living the dream..god bless
I’m going back in time! So good!
When I was in Aberdeen in early 90s there were lots of murals on the buildings. I remember train paintings and whale paintings. Did they make it to 2014?
Love your videos and Jax!
Not bad pilgrim.Love what your doing and your doing it your way.I'll be watchin
Eric... been binge watching your videos. Awesome!!! Are you still out there now?
+Brenda Kachelmeyer Yes! Still filming on the road. If you are only up to this video so far, you better get the popcorn and get caught up before I head out again!

I have to salute you on responding to every comment. That is a really good service for your subscribers
Frode Hammergren No, I can't keep up any longer. Just for the first year on youtube. Channel has grown too much.
You eat the SAME things as me. Right on man. Good stuff.

Great idea on that journal. I like boondocking when it's possible. WM has never been free for me, I always buy stuff! ;-)
Your videos are very informative.I wish they we numbered so I can see them without missing them.

KD was here! I like your idea about blogging about locations you can stay. Is there such a thing as a book or online resource where folks can list and look up camping locations. Maybe you could start one? Just a thought... Keep up the good work!

For dinnerware...buy plastic wrap and stretch it over your regular plates for easy cleanup, no stains and less waste.
