Just want to advise here that the Mazda MX-5 Miata owners manual says there is no towing. With that said, I think most would agree that a class I very light towing on a light trailer is OK, such as race wheels/tires or a single motorcycle or a bike rack.
I want to put a luggage rack back there but want to raise it . What can I use and still keep my recever size at 1.25 . Inches.i can't seem to find any thing but 2in risers.
One of the main reasons why people typically do not use hitch extenders or risers is because you decrease the weight capacity of the hitch by 50% with them in place. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C11028.html www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Hitch_Adapters-sf-Hitch_Extender-pc-Fits_1~1%7C4_Inch_Hitch.aspx

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see the installer tighten the two rear-facing nuts, the ones behind the bumper cover...!

I cringed because I feel like drilling the car would cause rust. Should seam sealer be used?
You can but it isn't required. Spray paint works as well.
