I love Nightlife too !!! I think song for song is my favorite too listen all the way through.. it's tough , either Nightlife or Fighting ? and my favorite post-jailbreak album is Bad Reputation I think
From an era where bands had great songs and musicianship and could incorporate light and shade and changes in tempo within live performances ... Lizzy are one of THE greatest rock bands ever IMO.
Great to hear the great (and I mean great) Thin Lizzy play a track from Nightlife. So good to see the best line up tear into Showdown and to see Robbo letting it rip. Made me smile - a lot! 😃
Beautiful Joe, what a super sweet sounding guitar, Gary would of been very proud of that excellent performance I’m sure, just wished you’d have bought the guitar, ✌️
What does that tell you? The "problem" with Nightlife it's not the songs, but the production... I actually love the warm production , but I know others don't.
@@phillynott2459 yeah, it's alright. Just didn't sound raw enough for me. I just don't like the way that song was produced in the studio. Live I absolutely love it
Yes, Chuck, a great rendition of one of their outstanding less celebrated songs. great swing to it, olenty changes, and those twin deluxes, so sweet and gritty.
@@SuperRowdyone I agree totally. I'm obsessed with Lizzy and Lynott. Out of curiosity, which song do you love the best? And what song first got you into Lizzy ? ☺️
Cut version ! Straight to the solo and straight to end double le time! They are soooooo plastered, but so very tight!! Love these guys!! Sound is spectacularly rock!!
Starting a degree on the anthropology of the life styles, complete ... like the likes of Phil Lynott, should make my retirement interesting and fulfilled when not out and about in the campervan. Now I just have to find the online degree lol.
Anyone else hear Led Zeppelins, Achilles last Stand in the Riff. It would of been released a year or two later on the Album Presence. Not judging, all true Originals but that Song is Definitely Zeppelins Swan Song. Love Lizzy Forever, Roisin Dubh, 🏟️ Dublin, Eire. 😍🎸🌹🖤
Major Mazzaroth this is how they started it. They skipped the first verse or so. On the full concert vid from this show they perform it just as seen here.
Sorry I absolutely love this band, like my ma used to go watch them in the early 70s. This is one of my favourite songs but they are butchering this track. Looks like the junk was really kicking in at this stage, I mean the band literally playing their parts at the wrong times. This is them at their worst sadly. I think Nightlife is their best album, it got a lovely half plastic soul swag to it and it hurts to see it played so shambolicly. Love you Phil though, and so did me ma
I'm obsessed with the kid at the end 4:04 his reaction sums up the greatness of Thin Lizzy, he didn't know wether to laugh or cry
Simplemente maravilloso.
If I ever get a Tardis this is the first place I'm going.
I wax lucky to see them 76 jailbreak tour 🇬🇧🙏
YESS
How I loved (and love) those drum breaks from Brian! I love this song and I love the Nightlife album!
I love Nightlife too !!!

Brian Robertson's solo makes this song
Agree. And the energy build up into it is beautiful rock n roll. The band kicked arse👍
This is what sets Lizzy apart. Genius. Jazzy swing rock n roll. Incomparable. End of. 🤘🏽
Yes!! Good comment
Classic, funky, soulfull, pure and rought rock n roll stuff.

I never get tired of thin lizzy , they rock . Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
Robbo and Scott were both on their game here. Great performance.
Those guys were the absolute best

One of their best tracks IMO! :o)
yeah, i agree. usually not considered one, but i am quite convinced it is.
I always get tears hearing this masterpiece live what a band and what a legend and badass Brian did on the guitar solo
I like this version so much better than the studio version
Not me. I like them the same
What does that tell you?

If this was played now at modern gig venues the audiences would think they have died and gone to heaven. Powerful!
This is one of the nice sonic-ly pleasing songs i have ever heard.
One of my strongest earworms ... its funky moody rythm and guitar driven finale with thumping base is just so damn good.
That sound!! Wow! I don't hear very many live performances in today's time, even with auto tune, and digital recordings that sounds this good.
So pleased to have seen this lineup live twice. Experiences Last Longer than Things.
Lucky you. I saw them once in '78 with a stand-in drummer for Downy who was sick that night, and Robertson's replacement Gary Moore.
@@Outlawscomin Marc Nauseff
@@nathueil1 He did a good job!
@@Outlawscomin He really did! You can see him play in The Sydney Opra House performance!
Eargasims. From Dublin with love.
KIller wah-wah.....best use of a wah pedal I think I ever heard in a song and that includes Jimi Hendrix.
Absolute great!!!
Excellent lynott has pure control 👌
Just magic!
Awesome....
I never heard Scott's singing so clear. I thought his voice was much higher.

What a GREAT version.... love the studio version but this live version is so much better....
Robbo fuckin killed it.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
What a groove this is...G...
awesome song and performance! 😎😎😎😎
this track is just something else
Phenomenal! Electric!
I love this
Thin lizzy the best.
Oh, and I forget to mention, those nights at the Glasgow Apollo. Now that's memories...G...
Too cool
magnificent
King Cool King Kong King King with all the Kings..
Poetry.. lol
lol
Kinda funny looking written down , but Philo could make that gibberish sound cool as hell ☺️👍
@@phillynott2459 indeed aside from being an outstanding bassist, frontman & vocalist he was equally as great at writing and poetry...he's the MAN!!!❤💯

This is so hip I can’t take it. I was born at the wrong time
ROBBO !
Wow , sure wish I was there
" Great Phil Lynott and Great Thin Lizzy"
Underrated song. A little slow in the beginning and a little loungey but, the guitar work - particularly by Brian is phenomenal.
Nobody rating Phil’s bass in this track? Superb!
epic jam

That was hot.
great
Thin Lizzy Showdown I believe this is the Sarsfield channel
Great version of showdown
Not many of these
Man, they were good...
Fucking Robo !!
Scott, not a bad voice Robbo, he does some singing these days lol
robertson played better at 19 then brian may in his entire career.
How robbo was such a player like this in the 70s for his age is phenomenal

I dislike this early Lizzy but the second half is a great performance to me.
"Very Good Funk-Rock by Thin Lizzy"
NC17 alone for Gorhams moves :D :D
Oh and unpopular oppinion . . . Robertson > Gorham

is this where zakk wylde got his look/style!?? ⬆️
Did he say at the end "hey you , with the birthin hips, I like your big lips, and I likez what I getz"
Sexy hips
"Hey you with the sexy hips... I like the way you lick your lips... What I likes I gets... In the showdown"
