I've asked others, can't seem to get an answer, please help! Huge question: Why do some (many) teachers say to pre-polish certain areas because you won't be able to reach them later" before doing an additional soldering step? I have never had a polished surface remain so after ANY soldering step. Thank you so much!
Great question. I think a better explanation is that you won't be able to remove the scratches and clean up the area well without "over-polishing" the surrounding areas. Pre-polishing to me is a process of removing toolmarks and scratches in preparation of shining the piece. If you remove the defects in hard to get areas, by sanding, burnishing, and tripoli first, then in the final polishing step, you get better results, crisp edges, and a better overall look, especially if you pre-polish areas before adding other other sections that make it difficult to clean with a polishing wheel. I'm hearing (what sounds like to my untrained ear) Indian music (starts after about a minute). Way louder than your voice so I can't hear what you are saying. It looked like a good video, so I'd like to hear what you're saying :-)

Susan, thank you. I tried to make a video that visually shows some of the content in the video series, many are confused because I added the music since the snippets I used didn't make sense out of context. The video series is hours long, and I tried to recap it in a few minutes.
