Best part is, that's not the last time they joke about Chris being adopted. In recent years, they've implied he's Dutch and even subconsciously understands the language.
Speaking as someone who doesn't care for Star Wars, the I Am Your Father bit was just that popular. There's a RUclips clip of someone recording from the theater of the Empire Strikes Back back in 1980, and the whole theater lost its collective mind. It's beautiful to watch.
it was like one of the biggest plot twists in cinema at the time, especially since there was no hint of it in the first film (Mostly cause it was a retcon but still) so its no wonder its THE most iconic and defining scene in star wars as well as the most parodied.
To answer the question at the start, Ted’s technically owned by Universal and Family Guy’s owned by Disney. Then again, they could always try work something out if they don't want to do a parody.
There’s something so whimsical about early Family Guy. Sure the characters don’t always get along but they’re still a family. In modern Family Guy though they just feel like six characters who just happen to live in the same house
Season 2 was when the show finally about to start changing. Like cutaway gags were used more frequently, the animation was changing more and more, and by episode 3, Meg’s voice actress was replaced by Mila Kunis forever until the sun explodes.
It wasn't significant though. Like cutaway gags were used a bit more, but still significantly less than in some later seasons (a lot were better integrated into the main plot too.) Like the difference from Season 3 to 4 is massive, the difference from 1-2 isn't huge.
I would love for them to react to an old episode of Family Guy and a new episode of Family Guy back-to-back get total whiplash from the stark difference in quality.
Growing up Catholic, there was a big belief (at least in my household and church) that if you marry outside the faith, the nonCatholic person was expected to go through RCIA (Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults, which includes Baptism, Confirmation, and receiving Holy Communion). Lois is Protestant, yeah, but Peter is Catholic himself, so it might be a case of her being somewhat Catholic through marriage. Peter also mentions they’re a Catholic household when he goes to buy a book for Stevie on using the toilet, so this might explain Lois’ respect towards the Pope.
*16:06* Yep, that’s Victoria Principal, who played Pamela Barnes Ewing on _Dallas_ , while Patrick Duffy played Bobby Ewing. Bobby was one of the suspects in J.R.’s shooting in the show’s third season finale cliffhanger episode, “A House Divided” (S3,:E21). Pamela, however, was not, and it wasn’t, crazily enough, until 4 episodes later, in the famous episode “Who Done It” (S4, E4), that the shooter was revealed to have not been Bobby, but Kristin Shepard, played by Mary Crosby. Along with the revelation, the CBS marketing catchphrase for the reveal episode “Who Shot J.R.?” is one of the most famous quotes of the ’80s, along with Clara Peller exclaiming “Hey!...Where’s the beef?!” in the popular 1984 Wendy’s ad, along with many others. Also, anecdotally, my mother (R.I.P.) said that as a very young child when she would have me watching the show with her, that whenever I saw J.R. on the screen, I’d snarl “NASTY J.R.!” at the TV. That’s how you know a TV/movie/game character is evil. *🤣*
The first “chicken fight” episode was directed by Bob Jaques, a key animator on the first two Ren & Stimpy seasons. He said he hated it working on FG lol and it was between working on Mission Hill or this show which he chose.
Guys, and Spilling the Milk in 8:18, that was a reference to the 1970's show Sanford and Son, where Fred and his son Lamont Sanford own a junkyard and get into miscellaneous episodic escapades. They both are African-American.
Man, the nostalgia. I can still remember watching these episodes as a young lad when they first released on TV. Early Family Guy was just a different animal.
1:08 I think this backstory still holds up. They did add new backstory that after they dated a while they moved to like New York or something, and their lives were like the Friends show, idk, it was weird. But I do think all of that lines up.
Goddddd early family guy especially with peters very Irish catholic father in it was sooooo funny it holds up quite well too. The charm was insane the animations was great the jokes the cutaways the way meg was treated all amazing and great. It truly felt like the simpsons reborn if one would go that far. (or at the very least season 1-3 of futurama hehehehe).
that bit where lois and peter bond over both finding the mexican rat joke funny actually is a notable storytelling choice. Basically they beleived that say homer and marge and simialr characters didn't really have a 'reason' that sold them as a couple and so they decided to at least differentiate their own show they should show ONE THING lois and peter actually share as a couple, which they decided was a shared sense of humour. yes this means that, like Jessica rabbit, lois loves her husband because "he makes her laugh"
I don't know what's more scary, how much funnier this was to modern family guy, or that Jack had that stewie squid figure slightly off camera ready to show
"We need a dancing with the stars where one of them is dead" All i can think is weekend at bernies crossed with dancing with the stars where they have to puppet a dead body to dance
how often do they do these patreon exclusive avatar episodes? they've been advertising it for as long as ive been watching and eden still mentioned that the netflix show might spoil him on stuff
Why would anyone feel sorry for meg? She is literally twisted and chooses to “convince” herself that she is “needed” there when in actuality she just doesn’t want to live as a “good person” and partially enjoys the whole situation… I don’t mean to kink shame her but at least don’t feel bad for someone who desires their situation. Also I think it’s fine for a character to be “terrible” or “good” as long as they commit to their character.
That's the writers' fault for making her too much of a punching bag that doesn't retaliate, if she was still an annoying brat like in the first seasons she wouldn't be seen as one
9:33 The music bits always gets a big laugh out of me😂😂! These early seasons were brimming with greatness. Month 8 asking for Good Burger and Dreamworks Wallace and Gromit curse of the Wererabbit 🦔🐰🐣"Why Do you have a FIGURE?! 🐙?!" "Because I Got it at Goodwill!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣❤
8:18 That was Sanford and son, they were referencing an old show about a black man and his son selling bathtubs and toilets or something? They had a father son business, like Peter said he wanted.
Best part is, that's not the last time they joke about Chris being adopted. In recent years, they've implied he's Dutch and even subconsciously understands the language.
I can only imagine that once they finish watching family guy and the “we watched every family guy episode” video comes out. It’ll be like a week long
Ls Mark moment
It’ll never come out cause by the time they finish editing it 3 new seasons will be out
Only 5 Hours

Indeed i didn't gave a fk about star wars at the time but that scene was EVERYWHERE!!, Toy story, Billy and Mandy even that movie Robots, everywhere

All you need is to make it parody tho
So Does That Explain Why Family Guy's Been Dragging On For 25 Years?
@@collinkeyser6827nah they owned it since last year, before it was owned by FOX
So? Family guy constantly features characters owned by other companies
@@amazingspiderladBecause they r parodies.
Meg pulling the classic older sibling bit of "You're adopted" is pretty funny

Jack having a figure of Squid Stewie as he’s on screen was probably the best milk moment so far this year
"Parodying the same scenes from Star Wars for 20 years"
Episode 5 came out in 1980, it's been 44 years.
That's even worse 😂
Darth Vader being Anakin is at this point the first spoiler we hear the moment we are born

Crazy
Jack having that random Stewie griffin squid figurine is so on brand for him
Hurts so much that I'm prolly the only one who got the Sanford and Son reference here😭 8:19
Dw bro, you’re not the only one. Lamont and Fred were my childhood
Freddy Sanford, Freddy sanford and his son
I noticed it too xD
I didn't realize they did a reference to it in the earlier seasons, which is cool to see
I got that reference, too!
I got it, I even made a whole comment explaining the gag
Ah yes, old Family Guy, back when it had charm
2:20 Kor just pitched Weekend at Bernie’s
The earlier seasons were so good! Now the characters are unbearable…

10:20 i love how as soon as eden made fun of the quality it increesed as if just to spite him
When they mentioned Joe Swanson Superman it immediately made me think of the Venture Brothers, I want to see these guys reaction to Brock Samson
14:28 is funny cause i actually bought a brian griffin plush from the 2000s at goodwill lol
It’s funny cause I bought the Family guy “freaking sweet” DVD collection form 2002
It's funny how Louis comes from a line of Pimps and ladies of the night yet is one of the most loyal people to Peter 😂
Expect when she isn't
That is a great observation if you ignore the more recent seasons
She’s cheated on him numerous times. Even in the earlier seasons she slept with bill Clinton.

The Family Guy musical numbers are legitimately so enjoyable! And they only get bigger and wilder from here!

The “we binged family guy” video in 3-5 years is gonna go CRAZYYYYYYY
the sanford and son reference actually made me laugh
I can't wait for them to get to the early season Conway Twitty jokes that last 5 whole minutes

To answer Eden’s question, Seth McFarlane has a large background in Broadway before he got into Hollywood, so he’s reaaaalllly good at showtunes
