j t
My ideal sleep paralysis demon
Right?!
Hilarious
Nobody looks more Irish than, John !❤
j t I come here to see him, as often as I can❤️😉👏🏽
John Mulaney does look like a software engineer from Indianapolis
I don't even know why but this feels so right
Am software architect from Indy, can confirm
Demeanor -wise, maybe, but his social skills, lack of sweat pants and physical flexibility would make him an exception.
@@sotall650 That you, John?
Don't we all just love how the artists can fool us, alongside make up, hair and wardrobe, into believing that they are the characters that they are portraying but are not ?!?! I mean, don't we ?!?! We dig your words, dear Leonor Lps.
The greatest thing about this skit is that John's character is 100% white. He doesn't try to sound black. He doesn't attempt to use street slang. But at the same time, he has a deep knowledge and respect for black culture. And this respect allows him to comfortably engage black people as PEOPLE while being the white man that he is.
Damn I wish real life was like this!
I knooow right
Yes! All of this! Great sketch
Exactly!
I think part of the reason why it works so well is because some of these things like church and greens are just Southern things. I'm white, but I'm familiar with some stuff just because it's sort of regional. Plus, everybody likes the Cha Cha Slide, so it automatically made the skit fun for everyone. :)
"And this respect allows him to comfortably engage black people as PEOPLE while being the white man that he is. Damn I wish real life was like this!"
With all due respect you’re blind and brainwashed. You’re complimenting the fact that he’s engaging others as PEOPLE, but you are doing so while you yourself are not talking about these people as mere people. You call him a “white man” (whatever that means) and you’re calling the rest of them “black people” (whatever that means). SMH
“Why can’t real life be like this?” Not only is it already like this, but the ones who don’t see it are people like you who have to divide everybody up into categories of color. What a shame. There’s no REAL thing as white ppl or black ppl, these fictional terms only exist in the minds of brainwashed and blind individuals like yourself.
I’m sorry to break it to you, but We’re all literally brothers and sisters. God bless you my brother
I love that Keenan is lowkey covering Cha Cha like a boss and everyone just talking bout the skit.
Thank you for this comment.
“Take it back now, y’all!!”
as someone not deep into chacha i thought it was straight up how that sounds
I know i know! Keenan!
That's true....

Am I the only one high key rooting for this imaginary couple?
After his performance at the party I can only imagine their night would have ended in fireworks haha. But yes, I also was deeply invested in their relationship, and am really glad they never made her seem uncomfortable or alienated from her own family, which was the other way this sketch could have gone
I want to see a reunion sketch with all the original dancers at Lisa and Daniel's wedding.
yeah we really need an updated skit from them, this one was lit
I’m gonna pray on it.

This is just a sketch but I feel like John Mulaney low-key has this type of energy

Low self-esteem combined with incredible execution? Sounds about right!
John Mulaney could deffo get the invite to the cookout.
@@bernlin2000 haha, this is an exact description of John Mulaney! 😂
The sound of all their steps in unison is really, really satisfying.
YES finally someone said it! Especially in the Cha Cha and the Beyonce 2, I love it

The Michael Jackson Thriller video will have you have you go into a coma then lol

Yeah this is some ASMR shit
I am so impressed with every background actor in this scene. They make this whole sketch so much better.
They're seriously into it lol
One of my favorite parts
Especially the lady in the black dress lol
Especially the lively little lady on front row right.
This is hilarious 😂😂
Aunt Georgette getting stuck on Beyoncé 1 still slays me to this day!! 😂😂
OMGoodness! I never noticed that before.
Had to hunt for it. How funny!
@MonkyPocks01 haha! I didn't notice that so thank you for mentioning it. I went back and got a good laugh!
I was looking for this comment
Omg! The skit has increased in funny for me now.
Johns face is priceless the whole skit. Like he has done this dance 12 times this month and is just bored
and yet, he's afraid he doesn't know anyone, lol. the dance is the clue..
this is the douche who told The New Yorker not to have Steve Bannon to their pow-wow last year
now look what trump is doing with trade.
Thanks John you POS
More like: “I don’t get paid enough for this shit.”
@@tialopez7306 what does this have to do with anything? and how is any of that related?
He wants so badly to be funny.
The real star is that heavy set man in the background giving his best performance.
He really is. I missed him, had to go back and watch him after reading your comment. 🤣
Ikr! ❤
Hear Hear but also his Dance Partner's Beyonce deserves praise.
😀😀
thanks man. that guy is super cool and into his groove
He like”I made it in life yezzzz”
One of the greatest ever SNL sketches. Really brilliant. Flipped the “fish out of water” comedy tradition and turned it completely on its head, and found the humor in the character being a fish completely *in* water. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that done so well in comedy. It’s also one the handful of great SNL skits that promote pure racial harmony. Love it.
This one and Tom Hanks in black jeopardy
The writing is also fantastic. During their whole discussion, they never explicitly mentioned ethnicity as a reason for why John's character was nervous to meet her family. It was always "they might not like me" or "I'm a nerd from the Midwest." The ethnic differences are certainly implied, but as they interact with the music and the side characters, we find that the ethnic differences were truly never the issue being discussed.
One of the handful? No way. They've been racially harmonious since Eddie Murphy and Buckwheat!
But what makes it actually funny?
Doesn't really resolve though, kind of just rolls to a stop
“I’m gonna pray on it” kills me
The background actors were really selling it!!
@@jusontime72475 you sir are amazing!
@@jamaylecurle8273 omg, Thank you so much. But Why??????? Lol

Omg yes!!
That needs to be an episode!
100%
Lmfao this needs to happen. Mulaney is comedy genius
The people in the background are the best!
I died at the ‘church fans’ and the nonchalant way in which John just pulled his out, clearly expecting to be using it in a dance routine.
.. aaaand he is carrying an extra one as well 🤣
@@marisamar3247Dude's a keeper, remember that.
For anyone who doesn't understand why it was so important for SNL to add black female cast members (after not having one for almost 10 years) or black writers on the writing staff, this sketch is a perfect example as to why is benefits the show. SNL did a lot of great work with an almost all white cast and entirely white writing team, but having diversity gives them the opportunity to add great skits and characters to their repertoire.
Agreed! Not to mention, it's nice to see them represent everyone, not just white folks.
This is even more obvious with Marcello Hernandez, he is hilarious for everyone. And now SNL is having sketches being made for hispanic people.
The more the merrier ❤
He carries two church fans... He’s a keeper.
IM Tellin It, Hallelujah! Lol.

Ooh, good point! One thing I loved about my ex is that he learned that I never could remember to grab flatware while going through a buffet line, and he'd always grab an extra set for me. I miss that. 😊 🍴

Can we all just petition SNL to release this club remix 12 inch version of Cha Cha Slide? That dance looks super fun and I legit would want to bust that out at a party. If only to see who gets it and who’s looking around in bewilderment
and who brings a fan to dance with
ruclips.net/video/I_zI1vbzFsQ/видео.html
I would gladly listen to and dance to every single remix, cha cha slide is truly one of the greatest songs ever
I'm with u..too much fun
Yes, I would die of laughter from that "Beyonce 12" move lol
The best part of this skit is, he wasn’t nervous about being the only white person there, and she wasn’t concerned about him “fitting in” in a “black” sense. It’s more, “I don’t really know your family” nervousness. The “race” angle , though there… isn’t. Love this skit.
To me that's the real charm of the skit - that you think it's going to be about him being the only white guy there and it has NOTHING to do with the humor - nobody else even remarks on it, they all just accept that he's there. The way the world should be!
First of all, Why did Keenan sound exactly like the guy from the real song? Second, I think I need this version to be a real mix for my wedding!
What's even crazier, he sounds Exactly like the dude from Kenan & Kel.
Yeah he did

Three years ago when this skit came out I didn't understand a thing although I knew most of the words they were saying... but the whole point was unclear to me. Just some funny dancing to the upbeat music...
Now I understood absolutely each lawyer of meaning in this skit and it made my heart a bit warmer.
I guess I got my English and cultural awareness level to the point I'm happy with.
Good for you!!👏🏽🥰
I'm a .middle aged American and I had to hit Google to find out what some of these things were. Hilarious
I'm a 33 old German. Feel exactly the same!
That's beautiful. Congratulations on learning such cultural nuance. Learning a language is one thing, humor is another, and humor that references pop culture or different communities within a wider culture is a whole different level.
It should be mandatory to watch this twice: once focusing on the main people and another time focusing on how much fun the background extras are having
I watched it like four times
While I focused previously on the background dancers, I recently just noticed Leslie Jones in the back going crazy with the Beyonce routine. I'm bout to die 🤣🤣🤣
I love how this skit doesn't make fun of either party, it's just sweet
Amen 😁

It’s really good natured and still really funny-kind of a rarity
I so agree. We need more like this. Made me feel good
@JTR Hockey Productions that is true. So refreshing to get a chance to laugh together.
Those are the happiest background extras I've ever seen in a skit. This skit must of been a lot of fun for everyone in it.
... or they just paid more for this one.
Its Oscar worthy
You can't be unhappy when you're doing the Cha Cha Slide.
I love the bug guy. Watch him he just looks like he's having fun.
I was thinking this too 🤣
The fact that he just casually fits in and everybody has a good time is so damn wholesome.
Who finds it refreshing that instead of the usual "white fish out of water" joke you see him fitting in with no problem and there's 0 conflict or people pre-judging. This was much funnier than the old "white folks can't dance" schtick.
take a moment to appreciate 3:30 when leslie jones keeps doing "beyonce 1" in the background like a crazy person.
Lmfao like a lunatic 🤣🤣🤣thank you for pointing that out
