  • Black households make up 48% of the city’s households, but they only own just 17% of the city’s housing wealth, according to the Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative.

Not also statistics are given. You have to look at people willing to work full-time and extra hours to get ahead in life but then some people depend more on Assistance programs that encourage dependency on goν programs instead of building your own wealth so to speak and some people never continue schooling or go to trade school which can contribute to financial success & higher self esteem.

My black family household income is more than the white household because my wife and I work together and our income is a joint one. Being married for 28 years I know that it is not easy but in the long run it is among the most important thing the average person can or will do.

I disagree with it being the most important thing part

Honest question, not being facetious, is it more beneficial tax wise for you both to work or for one of you to work and the other rely on that wealth if the money remained the same?

@@Harzeezreport So for about 18 years we lived solely on my income while my wife focused on raising our 3 kids. During that time I was an hourly W2 employee. Since then she went back to work and I now work for myself in the same industry I always have just to give you a little more information. I have seen nothing but tax benefits from the joint income especially since I pay myself a certain salary from my company that really helps out as far as taxes. There are a number of tax advantages that being married brings and I haven't noticed any downside to joint incomes.

@@regrob16 well that is a different circumstance. So that would benefit you both vs being two w2 employees

THIS is not just a "black" problem...folks are hurting from ALL races. Im sure the wealthy democrats would be willing to give up some of Their money to help out in this "inequalities" because there are A-LOT of extremely wealthy black folks who live in Atlanta who vote for the people that think the Rich should be more Equal with their money

@@patriciawitt8174 just because they are black does not mean they are democrats. You pronounce the b in black separate? Anywho, democrats are usually a party who creates policies for most people while republicans tend to create policies for the few. I am still waiting on the other parties to make a dent in politics. The numbers are so few

The statistics are for the city of Atlanta, which represents a small part of the metro area. Provide more context. But I wouldn't expect any sort of real journalism from WXIA. Hot garbage station
