    It's actually fun wheeling with open diffs, There are a lot of us who wheel on ZERO budget myself included. Stuck in my apt building parking lot with hand tools working on my Heep yj haha .....Very cool build \m/

      For $225 an Aussie is a game changer. 33s, 1” body mounts, 5/8” shackles, fix the oem perches to low profile, SYE and flat skid is about all you need to be, well, impressed. And impressive.
      I could not tolerate those stucks myself.
      He needs like 2” of suspension lift. Stock springs will work fine

      I too have a YJ. I also just bought a rubicon LJ. The lockers are such a nice thing too have. Open diffs are fun but so it creeping up a trail with no issues!

      @@tristansundquist1834 The problem is too many people drop money on an expensive built rig (ie Rubicon), but don't know how to drive. If they didn't have all the bells & whistles they couldn't drive out of a wet paper bag, and they end up breaking stuff. Learning to wheel with open diffs, & some decent tires will teach you how to find your line, & as Rick Pewe said perform a mechanical ballet. You will appreciate the lockers all the more, & all the cool stuff when it adds to your skills not replaces them. Also, you will break fewer components as you really learn how to use your vehicle & not simply push some buttons & then give it the skinny pedal. What that didn't work well give it more skinny pedal.

      @@harvestblades My first vehicle was a 91 YJ and I definitely know what it’s like to drive without lockers. That’s why I have a rubicon now. I just see “newer” off road vehicles with IFS and they are lifting a tire over the smallest of obstacles. I’m not saying it’s terrible. I’m saying I actually use my Jeep for Jeep purposes and IFS isn’t the move.

    Looking forward to the build video. I have 2 YJs, one lifted and one stock. And I love the looks of yours. I too like the low dollar rigs A tricked out Rubicon can go about anywhere but to get a tiny open diff 4 banger to make it…. Now that’s fun! Keep wheelin’ bud

    When you start wheel spin, apply light brake pressure, used to call it poor man's locker. Looks like TJ flares, opens up fenders. Disconnect sway bar, keeps front wheels on ground. Better traction, without a winch, a 3 ton come a long with a couple 30 recovery straps can get you unstuck when needed. Doing fine with what you have, you'll get better.

    • @nickracing6328
      @nickracing6328 3 года назад +1

      I have LSD on the back, no sway bars at all. I like to wheeling on cheap rigs it’s way more fun and challenging. Instead of high dollar builds where you can go anywhere with no drama.

      @@nickracing6328 stickers are great, but in my part of the country trails we ran on 30 inch tires 40 years ago aren't doable anymore. Even at 68 years old I still want to go. Won't give up just yet. I like your attitude though, the more challenge, the more fun. No one needs what they don't want. No substitute for a positive attitude and a good attitude.

  • @dougharlow6037
    @dougharlow6037 3 года назад

    unless he has wheel spacers, he'll rub badly turning the front tires hard left and right when flexed, also look at the mods done to the front fenders. I'll also bet it rubs in the rear on full flex. I have 30's on mine and it will rub front and rear at full flex. It does look nice.
