  • In this video we are installing the Aquasure Elite Harmony and Fortitude Pro system. This is a whole house water filter and waster softener system. It includes a very large pre-filter, a large carbon filter, and a water softener. We went with the 64,000 grain system, but most houses can easily get away with the smaller 32,000 or 48,000 grain systems as well.

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625
      @nkphomeimprovement3625  2 месяца назад

      You got it. I’m glad you found the video helpful. How much filtration you add depends on your incoming water quality. If you are on city water or well water I would pass on the UV filter, because you’re mostly filtering for chemicals and minerals. If you are pulling water from a lake or water holding pond then a UV filter might be a good idea.

    This is the best video I've seen on RUclips of how to DIY this Aquasure system, You've convinced me I can do this. I have a question for you, if you don't mind. The installation book suggests installing a bypass valve system that contains 3 shutoff valves; because I'm not a plumber, the suggested bypass multivalve system that is shown in the install book seems a bit overkill. Is there a simpler way to create a bypass for this system? maybe a valve on the cut water loop line in?

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625
      @nkphomeimprovement3625  6 месяцев назад +1

      It was really pretty easy. Much simpler that I thought it would be. You want at least one shutoff valve in the main line before it runs to the filtration system so that you can shut off the water to do maintenance. Then the aquasure system itself has shutoff built into the valve. That’s about all you need as a minimum.

    Hey I have a question how would you compare this product vs spring well or would you say its great for the price

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625
      @nkphomeimprovement3625  9 месяцев назад

      I looked at the Springwell system too, but I didn’t like the controller. The Controller that comes with the Aquasure is much more intuitive and lets you set things up the way you want, but also gives you lots of info at a glance. Otherwise the systems are probably pretty similar as long as they are sized the same. I think the Springwell cost more, but I liked the features of the Aquasure. And since the Aquasure is sold at most local Homedepot stores I figure it will always be easy to get replacement parts like filters and things.

  • @TheMediocreMoose
    @TheMediocreMoose Месяц назад +1

    Is there periodic maintenance that needs to get done for these? How long is the system designed to last?

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625
      @nkphomeimprovement3625  Месяц назад

      The large pre-filter has to be replaced about once every year. If your water is not too dirty, you can probably go a year and a half. It’s pretty inexpensive and you can replace it yourself. I think it’s about 30 or $50. Other than that, the only maintenance is to add salt pellets as it runs out. For us with a household of four we had 4 bags of salt about every six months. That’s really about it. The system should last 20 years or more as long as you maintain it well. Our last system was 25 years old and still working.

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625

    I purchased the same system as you from Lowes. My house never had a water softener system before so I contacted Lowes services program and an independent installer from Lowes was trying to sell me his own water softener system. They were saying the AquaSure don't last 2 years and they stop installing it for that reason. I think they just want me to sign up with their expensive water softener system and pay way more money for less equipment. This AquaSure system have the filtration system, the osmosis system and the water softener all for $1,600. I ended up paying for 3 year protection plan just incase everything under $2,000 after taxes. I have to hire a plumbing to do the connections and installation. Thank for sharing this video, extremely helpful. How is your system doing? Have you had any issues? thanks

    • @nkphomeimprovement3625
      @nkphomeimprovement3625  7 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, they probably just wanted to sell you the brand that they sell for the profit. These systems are all fairly similar. The main thing that is different from one brand to the next brand is the valve. The other thing that is different is the size of the pre-filter. I ran into the same thing when shopping for a system, every plumber I called pushed their own brand. What I ended up deciding is to DIY it and purchase what I wanted. My criteria was to make sure it is a well known brand that I can get support from, and also get parts for in the future. This brand is well known, sold by many vendors, and has a good warranty, so I went with it. And it's also a great deal for the money for what you get. So far it has been fantastic!! still performing very well. I backwash the carbon filter about twice per month, and even at that interval it is very clean with very little sediment caught. So I think I can probably go longer between backwashes. Water is soft and overall the system has been a huge upgrade over our old setup.
