Love these old pictures. Notice how well dressed every body is. One thing though, people were just as crooked according to these stories.

I thought there would be a call back to "The cat is in the bag" when Senior Del Gato was arrested.
As I learned from Garfield and Friends, gato is Spanish for cat.

So while they did front 40 k they returned the first purchase for cash to use to pay bills. They probably started with stone that ended up with jeweler who got from another swindled jeweler who did not want to admit to being taken and sold them to cut loses. They were able to case stores pretty well at this time so they could sell that info to.

I enjoy these old shows more than a lot of the nonsense on these daya

Surely this particular episode isn't based on a true story , if they believed the con artist had unlimited wealth why didn't they ask him for the 80 grand to purchase.

Wow, this was a long convoluted scam. Just how much did the scammers lose with hotel bills and the fronts they put on -- as well as the time it took to pull it off? Thanks for the uploads Audio Video. I'm certainly enjoying this series!

It's not really convoluted. It would've been necessary to earn the jewelers trust before they could get the payoff. As far as the cost, you have to spend money to make money. The point is for the payoff to be more than the expenses. Therefore, I doubt they lost money in this con as there wouldn't be an incentive.

@@CelticVictory this is very confusing to me... awfully risky on their part... they had to front 40K
and expenses and hope everything goes well....
I suppose they could have netted 30K..
and 40 K would be 375 k today... that's a lot of money...in any case the girl did have nice legs.... lol

I´m too dense to be a con artist. I still don´t know what happened even after they quasi-explained it.
