I love that even though Robert Patrick isn't as physically imposing as Arnold Schwarzenegger, he still plays such an intense villain. He's always making you wonder how the heroes could possibly stand a chance against him.
Yeah its great when a smaller person can seem so scary.
That's a good way to describe his character I remember being in terror in a kid watching him chase John
T800= monster truck
T1000= Lamborghini
From Terminator 2 to Scorpion, and even his smaller parts in Gangster Squad and Ladder 49, he always steals the scene
It's true. As you watch the movie you keep wondering, how the hell are they gonna kill that thing?
I love how expressionless Robert Patrick was and yet maintained the look of terror on his face. Great acting combined with great CGI
When the t-1000 tells Johns foster parents that there's nothing to worry about... such a simple scene and so fking scary!
You can feel from the start there's something off about this guy.
@@nightmareTomek The T-1000 can act very human and charming when it needs or wants to be.
These clips are just showing pure professionalism. No sily jokes, everyone doing his best, and the result is a movie that people will remember for decades or even centuries.
Agreed
Now Hollywood filled with bunch woke peoples
Seriously ... I am absolutely disgusted with movies/youtube clips spewing mindless jokes / quips ... even in serious situations completely contrary to the tone in the scene ... especially youtube clips in which people throw a joke to look cool .. I mean wtf
Part of that was because James Cameron tolerated exactly ZERO bullshit on the set. If you were so much as 30 second late to a take, you were getting an ear full from him.
Silly jokes r neccessary in modern cinema. Look MCU for example. Bunch of stupid jokes which made it enjoyable for average audience
Never realised how fucking in-shape Robert Patrick was. T2 has to be in the running for one of the best action films ever made, and his contribution cannot be understated. Love the Nine Inch Nails shirt and pin he wears, dude has always seemed like a really cool guy off-screen and a total psychopathic badass on-screen.
If your gonna sprint as fast as an accelerating motercross bike or car you better be in shape
@Screw Head713 I don't think he was looking at him in that way. Mabey you was subconsciously ?? 🤔😒
Glad someone else noticed the NIN pin. Cool dude indeed.
His brother was in NIN at that time

Definitely it was
Who thinks this was the best movie of the Terminator series?
Totally, and one of the best movies of the '90s
Nope, it's the best movie I ever watched, along with Matrix 1.
it's an awesome movie, but I prefer the first one)
@@davidovics92 The effects in Terminator 1 were laughable and the script wasn't so good compared to T2. If it wasn't for the police station shootout I would have given T1 a 6/10.
@@dennisanderson8663 I agree with the effects part, but obviously the budget was way smaller, so you can't really blame them. With the script part however, i don't agree with you. Terminator was/is a superb movie period
I don't think no one else would have played T-1000 as great as Robert. He did a terrific job at it.
I think Billy Idol, who was Cameron's original choice for the role, might have done just as well.
@@Elly3981I don't know if Billy would be so commited at this job as Patrick was

Damn me either but wow. Guess I need to go back and watch the extras on some old movies .
Amazing
Im still trying to wrap my head around the fact he didn't turn into a giant shoe at the drink machine, i mean, how did he sample the security guard through the boot lol
I thought it fake but very real more than effect... It's genius movie !
i love how robert patrick gets all wide-eyed and excited like a little kid each and every time he talks about T2 and his iconic role as the T-1000... you can tell how much the role means to him and how he loved the entire process...
I'm sure the production crew found Robert a pleasure to work with since he was very compliant in so whatever they asked of him no matter how awkward and uncomfortable it was.
Robert Patrick plays the T1000 in the most convincing, terrifying way. There were just so many factors that made T2 an amazing film.
It's the way he walks
Robert Patrick is a great, highly underrated actor.
He doesn't make any fast movements until he has made contact that is just scary. He stalks in a slow and menacing way and scans every room with effeciency first. Contrast that to him when he is fighting a chasing and it just makes him that much more scary.
Robert Patrick was scary af in T2. Brilliant acting.
Absolutely..scary than dumb zombies today!!
I was 9 when I watched it in the 90s and his acting combined with the music was terrifying.
I watched this movie countless times and I just took his acting for granted, but now I realize the challenges. He trained to run with perfect posture and never looked out of breath or tired. He trained to shoot rapidly with his eyes open and not flinch. Also that emotionless yet scary robotic facial gesture.
@@andreasbianconeri879 For sure!
@@CHAOS88100 Especially compared to the new Terminator movies that are honestly terrible.
Even 31 years later, the effects in T2 hold up better than most movies in the late 90s and early 2000s. In 4K, they look _gloooooorious_
And 3 decades later it still looks as impressive as it did in 91. Amazing movie.

Corridor Crew redid it recently with modern tech. But Stan Winston, Rob Bottin, and Greg Nicotero were the visionary pioneers by mixing realistic live practical fx with CGI.

Hello to you who are reading, how are you?
I want to tell you: THERE IS A GOD WHO LOVES YOU, AND HE WANTS TO SAVE YOU.
The greatest proof of His love for you was on the cross.
There is only one GOD, only one GOD, there are no others, and GOD is Love, he is merciful, but he is also a GOD of judgment and justice.
This GOD has Laws, and we cannot keep them properly, we fail, we sin when we disobey His Laws. Think with me, when someone commits a crime, he breaks a certain Law, is he innocent or guilty? We understand that if he has committed a crime, broken or disobeyed a law, he is not innocent, but guilty. Does a guilty deserve to be convicted or acquitted? We understand that if he committed a crime he deserves to be convicted. Such is the state of the human being before God. guilty. The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). We have sinned against GOD, we are not innocent but guilty, and our sins condemn us and condemn us to hell.
But I want to tell you that there is hope for us, there is forgiveness for our sins, because, even though we are flawed and sinners, God loved us so much that in the fullness of time he sent his SON, JESUS CHRIST to this earth. JESUS is the one who was born under the law of GOD. JESUS fulfilled all the law of God, being thus perfect, in Jesus there was no sin nor deceit in his mouth.
For when the LORD JESUS was here, HE did good to all, and healed all who were oppressed by the devil, JESUS was not a person who trampled on those who were fallen, on the contrary, HE stretched out His hands to the fallen, JESUS came to to save sinners, to seek and to save that which was lost, he performed miracles, signs and wonders among the people, the blind saw, the deaf heard, the dumb spoke, the lame walked and the dead were raised, for God was with HE.
Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. And then according to God's plan, Jesus being innocent, was rejected, was wronged and was condemned to death, and death on a cross. In this fact, GOD proves his love for us, in that CHRIST died nailed to a cross on our behalf, HE died for our sins, HE was our substitute suffering the condemnation that we deserve.
Then HE was buried and after three days, GOD raised Jesus from the dead, breaking the shackles of death, because it was impossible for death to stop him.
After Jesus was resurrected, He gave commandments to His disciples, and the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God.
JESUS CHRIST is the Judge who will judge the living and the dead, what GOD is announcing to all people is repentance. Repent of your sins, forsake your sins, and turn to GOD, believe in his SON JESUS CHRIST, so that your sins may be forgiven, only JESUS can save the souls of men, JESUS CHRIST is the only way, Put all your faith, your trust and your hope in Jesus and begin to obey him.

I remember back then thinking Patrick looked middle aged (but obviously good looking for his age). Now watching it he looks so young. Amazing how perception of youth changes as we get older.
It’s been 15 years since I first watched this movie as a kid, and I still can’t believe Robert Patrick is a real human. Remarkable.

Look up the video "Robert Patrick Terminator 2 locations".
He seems to be a very cool guy, lol...
i am are real cat 😺 but nobody believes me 🤣 meow purrr purrr 😂
these effects look more believable than today's cgi. sometimes less is more
Practical effects are real, and they have some special charm. CGI can be good but it's still... just computer generated. Practical effects are so amazing when they are done well. I'm shocked how many of these were practical effects. No wonder why they still look so good!
The industry seems to think cgi today is good enough to fool audiences, but it's far from being completely believable, esp when it comes to animation and interaction with real world objects, ie people.. now waiting for that 3d Roger Rabbit remake..
@@MrVidification It's usually a matter of budget and time. CGI is often the quicker and cheaper solution given a certain timetable. Of course, some things _have_ to be CGI depending on how outside the scope of reality it is. That said, it's cool when they can do things with practical effects like the hallway fights in Inception and Doctor Strange.
They seem to overdo effects these days and it looked unnecessary and cheap
It’s all about skill and patience. If they want it they have more than they need to create a revolutionary CGI animation BUT nobody cares about great CGI so let’s just throw in some boring templates and called it a day. Less work, more pay.

"You can't do a sequel and have it be more of the same."
Hollywood has lost its roots.
A good sequel needs to expand the world and lore of the first movie and also stand as a great movie on its own.
Also, most movies worth seeing now are part of giant franchises, where the characters are bigger than the actors.
@@fresherturtle1154 That's not necessarily true, it's just harder to find non franchise films in cinema.

There's a reason why people loved the 80s music and especially the 90s films. There was something uniquely creative of meshing traditional aesthetics (instruments/props) with a touch of computerized technology. Back when going over and beyond was appreciated & adored; now that kind of talent gets purposely misunderstood and overlooked. Sad.
Nowadays, if it fits political agenda, it gets green light
@triparadoxc.6347 Why do right wing guys with loli anime profile pics make everything about politics?
The beauty of movies like T2 and the Abyss was that CGI was used only when truly necessary so the effects still look smooth and natural. Nowadays CGI is way overused and makes things look fake.

@Luis Cruz WAS
@@SavageEntertainmentYEAH when he was shot, they had special shirts with a foam rubber torso sculpted and painted to match the cloth sleeves attached to them. Beneath the rubber torso was a fiberglass chest form with spring-loaded flaps. Inside each flap was a foam rubber "splash hole", which was chrome plated and stuffed inside. Triggering the mechanism would open the flaps like a blooming flower, making the splash holes appear.
Some shirts were cable controlled, others were radio controlled, but each scene where he was shot required a specialized shirt or series of shirts made just for that scene so the pattern would always be unique. After a couple of takes, the chrome would flake off so they had to make multiple copies of hundreds of unique splashes. Every splash hole was a piece of art!
It's remarkable how much they were able to accomplish entirely in camera.

One of the greatest pieces of CGI ever made, even today it looks incredible so I can't imagine how revolutionary it was at the time! Judgement Day is a masterpiece
The reason it looked so good was that CGI was not used unless it was absolutely necessary. The rest of the special effects were done with old-school methods. Nowadays, CGI is overused which makes a lot of stuff look fake.

Not to be a spoiler but the new film cancels the sequels by successfully sending a terminator back to kill John Conner. I know you are talking about real life but that is not possible. I'm sure everyone can agree that Genisys was terrible but Salvation was actually pretty good and T3 was okay. Giving another director control of James Cameron's franchise was a terrible decision from the beginning.

Kraft macaroni and cheese also made over twice as much when they incorporated SpongeBob SquarePants in their marketing.

Avatar looks more real than the FF series.
Horrific comparison lol
Don't even bring up that stupid movie up here please.
FF is bollywood now
And all effects still hold in 2023! Masterpiece!!!
He scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, now I'm 22 and still love the movies😂The first 3 terminator movies were the best
U mean first 2 t3 ruined it
FRostxD he said what he said and meant what he meant.
@@jmt6137 come onnnnnnn...gotta admit Kristanna Loken is a fair babe...worth the watch haha

Terminator 3 is shit.
Rando: Robert Patrick is wearing a NIN shirt because his brother Richard Patrick (of Filter) was a member of the band at the time.
Did not know that. Thanks for the info.
Awesome.. what did he play?
@@Kwakulusha He was the touring guitarist
Damn. That's a talented family.
Nearly 30 years later, and the movie that redefined the visual effects industry still remains the benchmark that so many modern studios can't even come close to replicating the impact of.
Sorry to say it, but T2 gets too much credit. Will always be a sci-Fi movie that everyone says was the worlds most groundbreaking in CGI. If it is not T2, then it is Tron, if it is not Tron, then it is King Kong etc.. But my personal favourite will alway be the first "The Matrix" movie. That actually has proven test of time(Not the sequals, they suck visually). I can really not understand how such movie was made in 1999 and still looks amazing today.
@@zerazara The Matrix was and still is a masterpiece!
@Rafael Cardeño Jr. You totally missed my argument. My point was not to "compare" The Matrix and T2. All i said was that The Matrix impressed me "Personally" more from the time it came out. But I am against singeling out any movie for their achievements in visual effects, since there will always be a movie that shocked it's audience. For all we know King Kong from 1933 were even more impressive than T2, or how about Jason and the Argonauts from 1963. James Cameron was heavy on use of computer animated graphics from "Silicon Graphics" (The Unix based system seen in Jurassic Park from 1993). This made them create really impressive cgi visuals for that time. But Tron(1982) were pioneers a whole decade earlier with the use of CGI. I think people always front T2(1991) for CGI kingdomship, mostly because it actually also is a very "Good movie". But what did James Cameron did do that were "Novel" in visual effects in the movie? Tron(1982) already implemented CGI ten years before and Cameron did himself two ears prior in The Abyss(1989)
The Matrix(1998) however used "Bullet Time" and even created their own sw to morph between frames to make smoother motion. If you don't know what this technique is, it is a bunch of cameras lined up on a rail that takes a picture at the same time, frames then are arranged as animated motion and makes for some awsome scenes. This is why The Matrix is my favorite, not just because of the awsome visuals from 1998 movie, but also because they did something "novel" that impacted popular culture forever. And offcourse same like T2, they are both very good movies.
But again, which movies is the mosr groundbreaking movie considering visual effects relative to time ot was made? Who knows, could be King Kong from 1933
@Rafael Cardeño Jr. Offcourse you cannot say the same for the movies that came aroubd the same time. T2 was the worlds most expensive movie at the time it was produced and released. But right after you had movies with impressive CGI like Forrest Gump, Jurassic Park, Toy Story, Star Wars phantom menace, The Mask, Titanic etc etc. Eventually The Matrix which again was groundbreaking in visual effects in same sense as T2, Jason and the Argonauts, King Kong etc etc. For its time T2 was eye-popping. But again, not the only movie in times doing that.
@Rafael Cardeño Jr. Well CGI in Tron looked awsome at it's time, but does not hold up. And sorry to say, T2 CGI does not hold up either. So what is the dlfference. Maybe T2 did hold up for a long time and it became like a phrase.
Actually CGI has recently become very "Infamous". At least "full CGI". Most big directors prefer "Practical visual effects" combined with digital composition. Ridley Scott commented on Alien prequel "Prometheus(2012)" that he preffered practical effects, as they were much cheaper than CGI, but also in fact "looked better" than CGI. Also other eye-popping movies like Mad Max Fury Road(2015), George Miller were heavy on the use of "Practical effects" contra using CGI. So actually we are not there yet. Maybe "Artificial Intelligence" can help us improve our computer graphics to be indestinguishable from reality in the future. But remember that computer technology is also improving practical effects like use of 3d Scanners and 3D printers, animatronics, computer controlled camera rigs, high end digital cameras with even better quality and image quality as 35mm film or medium format etc etc.
Still one of the best action movies ever made. I didn't realize just how many of the effects we see in this film were practical and the CG stuff still looks great over thirty years later because the effects team really pushed the envelope because James Cameron wouldn't settle for second best. This film was years ahead of its time and used it's resources well and sparingly, which might explain why it is so revered even now.
After seeing all this effort & hardwork...makes me appreciate this gem of a movie even more
"Approached the limits..."
The Matrix: not anymore
Even today this seems so advanced. The production quality was outstanding!
I wish movies would go back to this way...

Excuse me. Sir? What about us?
“As perfect as it possibly could have” couldn’t have said it better.
Hollywood will never see this level of talent, competence, creativity and passion ever again.
Terminator 2 still looks great in 2020. That's some solid CGI, not overused but definitely used to great effect and with great care. Maybe a touch rough in some scenes - animation is a bit rigid sometimes - but then some of that is justified by the plot.
Not bicth it was way better than last terminator for sure !
Sometimes I would to forget my memory to rewatch this masterpieces for "the first time".
I'm amazed at how Robert could hold an expression without a twitch for the scans. I'd be very self conscious and blink when the laser would come near my eyes. I guess that is what makes a good actor. Puppeteering your own body with your mind.
Robert was very compliant and did whatever was asked of him. I'm sure a lot of what the production team wanted him to do wasn't very comfortable physically or mentally. That, and the intense training he underwent to perform the running scenes without showing signs of exertion, strain, or fatigue since a machine isn't supposed to feel any of that.
For a 1991 film the effects in it were so incredible.
The young Robert Patrick is really handsome and Grim!
罗伯特帕特里克 He is right??? 😍
What I love about him is that at times he’s got such a soft warm and friendly tone to him but other times he’s either scary, weird or cold and calculated and he’s definitely my favourite villain ever for the series
Robert Patrick is a Scorpio.
@@justonfisk5813 So basically he was born with the terminator eyes.
Robert was pretty funny in Striptease too. He has good range.
When cgi isn't the whole movie, just certain epic scenes.
T2 Judgment Day- cinema's masterpiece of all time!!!!!!!!
Robert Patrick as t1000 is hot 🔥🔥🔥
Especially at the end of the movie.
@@Awelbeckk :)...... Nice one

T1 and T2 are such incredible master pieces, not just because of the acting and story but because of the hard work into making them, now they just use a computer to CGI everything and it looks shit compared to stuff made 30+ years ago, they have ruined a series of great films with this method
Yeah they got lazy
Terminator 2 is computer graphics done right. Now I want to know about the hardware and software they used, and what the render times were like, if that was a thing.
@@asnowballinhell Yeah computer graphics was used for alot of effects, they was ahead of its time and not only set records but raised the bar too high for next gen films to try and match.
However they did still use models and other props for the making of the film which all helped creat one of the best films ever made
CGI is great! You can do Wonders with it. You just have to do it properly.
@@jothishprabu8 yeah I agree to a certain degree and a good example of it done properly is T2
In the T2 commentary, James Cameron mentions that the shot where the T1000 was rising up out of the floor in the hospital was the very first digital effects shot they got back from the lab. And the quality of that shot was going to decide how much CG vs practical effects they were going to use in the movie. Fortunately, it was amazing. :)
there will never be a movie to advance cinematic technology more than this, there's countless new techniques that even today aren't obvious
This movie remains the coolest film that I have seen. It still holds up today.
The CGI effects in T2 still rival the effects of today's films. I can't even stand horror movies now because most use CGI instead of practical effects like in the film The Thing.
The CGI is outdated you fool! It's nothing close to what we have now. Think practical!
@@jothishprabu8 You are one dumb fuck. The CGI in this movie literally looks better than any modern horror movie.
@@dennisanderson8663 No it doesn't. You are the dumbfuck here. I adore the effects in the movie but I know the CGI looks outdated compared to today's CGI
@@jothishprabu8 you would think that old cgi is outdated by what we have now but explosions in movies these days looks like video game graphics and looks fake in die hard for example the explisions were real with models
@@keiranninjaspirit Maybe you are just Concentrating on the Bad CGI mate. Look at The Harry Potter Movies, MCU, BR 2049, Star Wars Sequels, Godzilla Universe, Nolan Movies. The List Can go on. We Can do Wonders with CGI. We just have to Use it Properly!
