  • We released this pattern on my Patreon last month, and it was SUCH a hit! There’s something so whimsical about a wearable cape, particularly one that is gender neutral and not incredibly hard to create! If you are a newbie, this tutorial is for you! We are using the “Voyage Cape” sewing pattern. If you don’t already have this pattern, the downloadable/ printable pattern can be purchased on my website.
    gunnardeatherage.com/shop-pat...
    This pattern is great for wools, heavier fabrics, but you’ll also need a soft or silk lining! The pattern will list all the fabric yardages and notions needed!
    If you are wanting to learn to sew, and don’t quite know where to start, check out my Patreon! There’s a small but growing library of instructional videos and DIY projects there for you to enjoy!

    This is the style of tutorials I make on my patreon! I try to be as thorough and easy to understand as possible! As someone with a learning disability, regular tutorials lose me almost instantly, so I’m trying to make tutorials I would also be able to understand if I were on the other side🖤

      I completely understand. I didn't find out I was dyslexic until 40 yrs of age. By the time I finished college, I was so frustrated. I have not been able to understand directions esp in sewing. My mom tried teaching me, but it seems I put everything together backwards. When I saw rhis video, I was really excited. I'm mesmerized by your genius. Thank you Gunnar 😊

      My Dear Gunnar, you are an absolute JOY to watch, there are times when I watch your videos that reminds me of my grandmother, she made ALL of my prom dresses, as well as all of my easter dresses, along with other outfits and other various pillows and whatnot. My favorite dress that my grandmother made me, ok it was one of my favorites, it was my easter dress from the year Princess Diana and Prince (soon to be king) Charles was married. I wish I had a picture, but I fell in love with that floofy and poofy wedding dress. Thank you for being the wonderful person and inspiration that you are. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You have a real flair and you make it fun to watch and even though at 71 I do not Sew... It remained a great treat to watch you... If you sew off your garment onto a small scrap (called an old maid) before clipping the thread, then sew from the old maid onto your next seam, your machine will not unthread! You can use the old maid until it’s too thick to fit under the presser foot. It’s a trick from quilt piecing. Thank you for the beautiful project and tutorial 💖💖💖

    • @Serena-or7sl
      @Serena-or7sl Год назад +3

      @@aaliyahraks So you are sewing various pieces of your dress together, but in sequence, and you need to move from a stitch to another. Instead of clipping the thread after the first stitch, you continue the stitch onto another piece of fabric, and only then you clip the thread (between the original stitch and the scrap). Now under the machine you have the scrap partially stitched, so you line up the next stitch of your garment and continue the stitch from the scrap to the garment. on the garment you do the reinforcing back stitches too, but you don't need to do that on the scrap.
      it's basically |garment1| - |scrap| - |garment2|.

    It's such a great video! I am a self-taught sewer myself, and while watching this video, I could picture myself working with the fabric and working with the machine. Sounds kind of weird, but you captured the real feel of what sewing is like. Anyway, it makes me want to buy some of your patterns. They look so well done and easy to figure out. Thanks Gunner you are an inspiration. I'd like to sew more clothes for myself, because of my body type. I unfortunately have large curvy calves, and nothing seems to fit me. I might have to break out the sewing machine again. Thanks again! ❤
