Down in the Land of the Dead there remains an ancient civilization hidden among the dunes. Once the great nation of Nehekhara, long ago they were laid low and raised into an abominable parody of life. Yet even now these Tomb Kings hold great power and mightiest among them is none other then Settra the Imperishable. Игры
This guy is literally just a more balls-to-the-wall version of Rameses the Great.
Eh, he seems more like a mix between Thutmoses III and Ahmenhotep III to me. Thutmose III was one of the greatest warrior-kings Egypt ever produced, who brought the Egyptian empire to the zenith of its military power by conquering all of Syria, crossing the Euphrates to defeat the Mitannians, and penetrating south along the Nile River to Napata in the Sudan. Ahmenhotep III, by contrast, was one of Egypt's greatest peacetime rulers. His reign was a period of unprecedented prosperity, peace and splendor when Egypt reached the peak of its artistic, cultural and diplomatic power. Many of the massive building projects he undertook still stand today and their scale is breathtaking.
Never bothered to learn this dude's lore before now.
My god, what a badass.

It surprised me too but I didn't realise how evil he was sacrificed his own kids

My favorite thing about Settra is that despite (or because) of how arrogant he is Settra is one of (if not the) greatest rulers humanity has had in Warhammer.

There isn’t many other claimants. Karl Franz, Guiles Le Breton, Sigmar, Borgio, and the Dragon Emperor are close. Sigmar probably wins since he became a literal god

As someone who is relatively new to warhammer lore (just started when Total War Warhammer 1 was released), I appreciate these videos so much as sort of a background podcast thing to listen to while I game. The lore in this universe is so expansive and diverse that knowing all of it is a full time job for sure. Thumbs up and a subscribe for you sir.
As for what I like about Settra, it had to be his personality. The whole "I will not bend the knee" aspect, even after the Chaos gods essentially saved him from oblivion is iconic to him alone. To have the balls to basically say "I know you're gods, but f*** you anyways" is probably the most badass thing in all of the lore.
Settra is just a badass plain and simple. Talks a good game and can bring in his tactics and skill to back it up. He deserves to rule.
Your pfp gives me conniptions.
When your so egotistical and narcissistic. But you got the stuff to back it up no one can hate you for it.
Broke: Even in death I still serve.
Woke: Settra does not serve! Settra rules!
Even in death I still rule!
Id like the 40k emperor and this guy to have a conversation
My favorite aspect of Settra is his sheer willpower. He literally doesn’t care who you are, he’ll charge you in his chariot and try to kill you. And he never strays from his goal of ruling. I personally want to see Malekith covered next, as I love the dark elves and he’s probably my favorite character (next to Karl Franz).
That whining toasted knife ear deserves no lore video
Malekith is a punk. He got pimp slapped into exile by my boy Tethlis the Slayer.
Settra : the Angry White Skull on the dune that rants and shouts at the dawn. So memeable ^^
End times in Middenheim short :
Settra Yells in the face of the Chaos horde : « Settra Rules ! »
The chaos vortex explodes, and the wave of void races forth. As Settra contemplates the void rushing forward to him he exclaims
« Settra now Rolls ».

The feeling when Sotek releases a 2 hour video on my favorite Desert Daddy?
Priceless.
Agreed. Loremaster Of Sotek does warhammer Fantasy like no other,at least in my opinion. Just one question Did the member of the Mortuary Cult that betrayed Settra in favour of Nagash end up being rewarded for what he did by Nagash?
Your so called "desert daddy" is nothing when compared to the mighty God king Sigmar! All hail Sigmar and the Empire!

I got into Warhammer lore through Total War and I've found the lore to be amazing. Your videos are very informative and entertaining. Thank you for making them!
Also, Settra is a badass. I love that he just doesn't take any shit from anyone and he's such a monster in war, that even godlike beings were always wary when he showed up.
Settra does not serve! Settra rules!
Setra the imperishable is from 1st ed other than sigmar hes the only character that is still as imagined.
The imperishable Setra is truly
Playing Total War: Warhammer II, whilst listening to this, especially that music whilst sipping Whisky..
Boy, am I chilled the fuck out.
Didn't know Settra's lore.. now he's one of my favourites characters! Awesome video!
Ah yes my favorite best-best tactic:
RUNNING AWAY FROM SETTRA SO HE DOESN'T MURDER YOU.
Settra's past achievements were just a backstory and to put him on stage as a player in the end times.
“Sees that the video is just shy of two hours”
Aren’t you forgetting about half of his titles?
I really like his origin story, it is smth fantasy setting is at its best. We have the story of arrogance that was shattered by reality of death making even the greatest equal to some whatever peasants. Unless you have magic. And instead of getting wise and humble you get immortal and even more badass in death then you were in life. I like stories that start similar to parables that should teach you smth, and are turn upside down to show how fantasy can surpass laws of reality and embody some of the most insane "what if?" fantasies. And also Sethra is one of the few characters who actually stood up for his word, better than even some dwarfs (yes Slayer king, I'm talking to you - it can't be that hard to die in the warhammer world!)
My favourite aspect is that his downfall is the same reason he rose to power. He ruled through fear not respect and and fell because there were greater foes to be fearful of. He was so stubborn and willful he rose to what he was and it's that same stubbornness that kills him. It's a consistency of character that I like. Based off what I learned here anyways.
OMG the music! The video too :) Excellent work. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Good stuff. Settra is a fun character, in that he has the over the top appeal of the haughty kings of Mesopotamia.
Cabbadath B Well Settra is Egyptian, If you want Mesopotamian inspired tyrants I’d recommend the Chaos Dwarfs who I really hope will appear in TWW 2 or 3.
@@InquisitorThomas Chaos Dwarves arent really Mesopotamian tbh, Settra would be closer lol
Just a Random Boi Nah, literally take one look at Sargon of Akkad or Hammurabi and tell me the Chaos dwarfs’ facial hair wasn’t inspired by those guys.
Hannibal IboneK He's pretty much an amalgam of all the great kings of ancient time with his arrogance dialed up to 11 and his badassitude dialed up to 20. He's mostly based on Rameses the 2nd, but there are touches of others too.
AngelAngelis I was talking about Chaos Dwarfs. Settra is undeniably Egyptian.
This video made me pause my Vlad campaing and start a Settra campaing, is THAT GOOD.
Playing the Tomb Kings in Warhammer 2 while listening to this. Love the amazing lore, keep it up.
You just gotta love thus guy for his sheer determination, fuck for of this guys arrogance and attitude he does not give up even when all logic says no you fucking can't do that
I love these lore videos so much. My shifts at work fly by with these in the background
The question still stays is Settra strong enough to survive Games Workshop ?
It seems so, given today!
Even the chaos gods can't survive that... Come on!
Leon St. In AOS his personality is removed forcibly.
@@rorytolmie6504 chaos gods, settra is greater than any god in existence because settra does not serve HE RULES
@@kevincho1187 No, Settra serves. It's in the canon. HAHA!
I still cant wait for Settra to return in AOS. Even if it's just hints from the world that was. Settra would never let Nagash rule the undead unchallenged so it be great to see undead civil war.l
I think he will return as Ptra's reborn avatar and then will fight Nagash until the end of times.
Settra will return!
Yes, I served him in life so will I in death! :D
There was mention of a spirit of such incredible power that mortals thought him a god, although he himself denied it, calling himself a king. In one of his entreaties, he did mention "Lost Nehekhara" although I can't remember where I read it.
it appears to me that sigmars stormcast bear a similarity to the Tomb Kings methods of revival... though i would prefer for Setra to return as an avatar of Ptra... imagine a willpower so great he slowly drags his dust back together over millennia and creates his own realm... drawing the souls of those who served him out of the realm of souls and declaring war on all others... i think it would make a good new era disaster for AoS... Setra would not return as an ally to any faction... - he could literally claim the bonereapers as his own lol
Excelent story telling and thank you for the details.
Setras personality is definitely beastly and entertaining. I love how all goes south but he always gets back at it, his way.
That was amazing. Ty for your hard work with this awesome lore video, we all really appreciate it.

Ay I see what you did there 😂
Inquisitors in 40k: "🤔 _Wait a minute..."_
No, because the Emperor of Man is an Emperor, not a king.
A king is merely born into power.
An Emperor seizes it, by right of might, by beating people up to take their stuff/power.
Eidolon Specus **Coughs in Japanese Emperors**
**Starts hacking up blood in Qing Dynasty**
@@EidolonSpecus By the sound of it, Settra seized most of his power by right of might. Remember, Nehekhara was a cesspool until Settra decided to clap the other kings' cheeks. And after that he clapped a lot more cheeks.
Love these vids!!! Thank you for the work sir!!!
really liked this vid, you really made settra story pop, great work thanks
Also, great video man. It’s amazing to see you sit there and make those super long videos on the lore. It must take s massive amount of time and dedication to produce these awesome videos! I thank you for that. 😁👍
I've listened to this afew times, such a contribution to Warhammer. Thank you
Love listening to your warhammer vidoes, amazing work
Undead battles in the sandy desert, far better than undead battles in a icy desert. That aside Settra is an amazing leader, either in life or undeath he has more ambition to reach his goal than you could image at first glance.
I love that in all my campaigns the imperishable takes about 2 turns to perish in battle ;D

I just love the video.. Keep coming back to it..
Beautiful told story
Background music???
"... In the land of the dead, I'm dark side royalty. I'm the overlord of the underworld, and you can't take that from me!"
My favorite part is how badass the will power he has is . That is insane
Thank you for the effort you put into these videos Sotek!
When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object
You are a legend sotek, you fully deserve your title of lore master, no one comes close in regards to warhammer
Settra is an utter badass
I don't have warhammer or anything like it but I thoroughly enjoyed this blog. Thank you for making it so well. I will now watch more.
I'm sure these videos take a lot of research and reading to do properly, and i just wanted to say thanks for going through the effort to make this content for us. This video was incredible. I learned so much in a short less than 2 hr video. Really nice to have playing in the background at work. Please make more of this content, even if it's sparingly.
Settra is here, the most badass character in warhammer fantasy, and I love Settra. I possibly think he might been defeated by a unknown entity of Chaos, other than the four main chaos gods.
One thing about Settras and Nehekharas history did always made me wonder. At the time of Settras rule the Elves and Drwarfs had vast empires of their own. The Asur especially had many colonies very close to Nehekhara. Settra expanded into lands that on other maps are shown to have been parts of either elven or Dawi empires. Yet we know nothing at all about any contacts between the elves and Nehekharans, prior to the Druchii captives of Nagash. Considering the long lifespan and magic of the elves, the Mortuary cult had to have focused on them, trying to get the magic to prolong life from the elves. We do know that they have it and from the lady of the lake we also do know that elves can prolong the lifespan of humans. Considering that Settras army was using bronze weapons and animated constructs weren't created yet, I doubt that his armies could have fared very well against either superpower and its strange that he didn't use his incredible determination and charisma to get the secrets of steel and magic from them. Also knowing the Asur, they would have traded with such a developed civilization, with many goods to offer. Is there any information at all about contacts between the two elder races and (living) Nehekhara?
Maybe
I know it`s an year old comment, but actually living nehekarans had some relationship with High Elves. There is a hieroglyph showing these two together fighting against some demons. There was even some discussion about it, link:
forums.totalwar.com/discussion/210238/tomb-kings-and-the-high-elves
@meaturama Seriously man? We are having a short discussion about lore and you complain?
@meaturama don't think about anything you dolt
You’re shitting on bronze too much, it’s a decent metal, it’s just that irl it wasn’t cost effective because sources of tin were hard to find and secure. Iron was about the same level of efficacy, it wasn’t superior in any way other than cost and abundance. Yes, steel is better, but it isn’t like steel would go through bronze like butter. Metal is metal.
So glad you mentioned the scarabs at the end. I was thinking that when you first mentioned it. There must be some way of implementing it.
Automatic subtitles can't figure if Settra is (et) cetera or Citrus The Imperishable Food Product.
With Sentra getting a major tease during the malign portents event hopefully we don’t need to wait too long to see Sentra return and put Nagash in his place.
My fav thing about Settra is his personality yeah sure he’s a arrogant person but he has bite behind his bark quite a lot actually
I enjoyed some of the shorter lore videos of yours but was a bit sceptical about listening about Settra for two hours. But how wrong had I been! This was so entertaining to listen and Settra's story's so epic. I think he's now my favourite character in the lore alongside Alith Anar.
And my favourite aspect of Settra? His sheer willpower. He doesn't give a shit, he rules. And the strength of his willpower could even overcome Nagash's sorcery.
Even 1 year later I still listening to it 😅
Really an underrated channel. great job mate.
Hey, Loremaster! My favorite part of Setra’s lore would have to be his final battle vs. Nagash and Archon the Black. It seems like such a huge moment in his lore to finally kill his two biggest rivals for good, just to have it be stripped away by some foul magic and backstabbing.
Damn, your lore made me buy Tomb Kings DLC. Amazing!
Amazing video! Thank you so much.
This pleases me greatly.
Volkmar the Grill lmao, Sotek your channel is awesome keep it up!
Thank you for this!
I like the combination of Settra's ridiculous stubbornness and dickishness. Unlike with the Dwarfs I find it funny for some reason. It also plays into his struggle against Nagash. I also appreciate his tactical genius.
That's because unlike the Dwarfs, Settra has the power, skill and intelligence to back up his claims of superiority.
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 as a dwarf enthusiast I gotta agree XD SETTRA RULES

This was awesome! Thanks a lot!
My friend and I are doing a duo campaign where I am settra and he is malagor. Oh what a fantastic combo. Listening to this while I conquer the lands is so fitting.
I know these videos are great on their own, but something about listening to this video as you're playing Settra in Total War seems perfect. Probably will do the same with all the other legendary lord videos.
we need more of this Sotek. love this
Alright that's it, I'm gonna conquer the world in mortal empires with Setra.

10/10 as always mate... i rely like your long video´s. i listen to them at work and it makes the day so much better. for your question i think he is just so cool. he is one of fav char.. i think krell is my fav, something about him and his story is so cool. then its rely a coin toss between settra and Malekith, Malekith ingame but story settra takes the cake and after your video on Archaon i like him way more.. i only play the total war game so i dont know much about the lore so thanks to you and a few others i know more and more about how awesome the lore is.
When I killed him with grom on warhammer 2 tw I earned the title "settra the perishable" :D

Settra the mother fucking Imperishable is my favorite character from WH. I hope in some lore full way CA bring him back. And My Favorite part of Settra is his Willpower. That man just don't want to knee before anyone. Not Even Fucking Chaos God can make him to obey their command.
Wait wait wait wait!!!!! If Settra DIED at the end of the End Times (a.k.a. swallowed by the void), doesn't that mean there's a chance (a HUGE chance *pray's to the gods*) that he might return in Age of Sigmar?
I mean Gotrek and the like have returned in AOS, so why not Settra?

One of the novels tells of a Stormcast named Setris, who leads The Imperishables, and has a major beef with Nagash...
It was actually pretty lame af though. Cause it was just a nod and they didnt focus much on the character last time i checked
I know you made this, and similar videos, years ago. But I love these types of videos man. Hope one day you release more like them now that we have immortal empires.
Perfect time to play a Tomb Kings Warhammer campaign on Total War thanks for the lore vid very helpful
Ok, this is tumb up for all these titles on the beginning of the video. And I can watch more... :D Great job!
I made to the end of the video - with pleasure - and I must say I love Your narration and all these small details You put into Your videos. This is really nice hearing.
i. LOVE. quest battles and scenario battles and all sorts of things like that. If they can't be put in by CA, surely they can be made by modders, as there is definitely a demand for them.
I just came from apparently watching only the old character lore videos. Holy crap this is so much better. And I liked the old ones.
Amazing loved this one, Settra really was fleshed out and was an outstanding character. Currently doing a Khalida campaign and now I await Settra to kill me for betrayal haha.
nice XD as you should. Still remember how that went?
Your content is Awsome man.
as with any human, as soon as you no longer have a deadline (pun intended?) you lose your drive and make little progress as shown with Settra spending literal ages conquering very little. His alive years were productive however.
Its funny your voice completly changes when your talking about the end-times you can sense your resentment about it existing = )
not a total war character lore(yet), but I would love for you to cover Gotrek and Felix or Malus Darkblade stories; although most of them are sort of using 6-7th edition background(which to me is way better than the 8th-end time lore anyways) I think it would be a shame that these awesome characters don't get some attention
he will probably avoid novel characters just because it will take a huge amount of research.
especially series as long as G+F or malus, i would estimate the only novel characters he will cover are the blood of aenarion (tyrion, teclis and malekith)
Great video as always.
The best part of Setra is his gigantic sandstone balls.
Favourite part of settra is his absolute arrogance and indestructible strength of will.
Man. No wonder everyone seems to hate the End Times. It did every great character dirty.
For the final question. I like the one part of his personality he shares (in my opinion) with Tyrion, the unbreakable will. It's the reason I like both of them much more than many of their counterparts.
Good video , thank you for sharing .
So essentially... Settra had a 'I'm not feeling so good' moment along with everyone else at the end of all things?
Coming to Fantasy from Total War, What I love the most about Settra is that he's such a Total War character - "You expect ME to bow to YOU? What ARE you smoking?" And he actually has the power to back up that bravado. He looks at Nagash and gives him the finger... twice... He looks at the Chaos Gods and gives them the finger... Out of everyone who has that level of gumption, Settra backs that gumption up with capability.
How to kill Settra?
Destroy the universe then maybe you'll succeed but have a plan B, just in case.
I love Settra because he is just larger than life, probably one of the best and exceptional humans to have ever live (unlive).
Awesome as a primary TK player this was great and as soon as the end times hit I did flip the table at the end of book one.
Thx for uploading this on my birthday may 18
Lord settra does not serve, he collects warhammer lore and miniatures 👌😎
Awesome video, thanks man!
Amazing video! Watched it so many times hahaha. One thing I would like to know is what is the background music?
I would like to know that too lmao
Absolutely love this video, and to answer your end question, my favourite things of Settra are A: just how damn stubborn he is as a lord, unrelenting, resilient and determined, then B: He's still just an aggro little piss baby at the end of the day. Always throwing temper tantrums and if he had actually just damn well died he would've have spawned the Mortuary Cult, given Nagash his way in and all of these terrible things.
Alongside Archaon and Durthu this is now one of my favorite videos you've made, any other lords you might focus in on, in the future?
