📝 Overview 📝
Everyone seems to be clamouring to get their hands on a crypto card right now. However, that begs the question - which one should you choose and can you get it in the country you're based in?
I compare five of the leading crypto cards side by side and give you the full lowdown of what they offer and which is best.
5️⃣ Coinbase Card 5️⃣
This card is only currently available for residents of Europe and the UK. Like every other card on this list, it is a Visa card and is accepted anywhere Visa is.
To get the card you will need to pay a one off fee of 🇬🇧 £4.95 🇪🇺 €4.95.
Supported cryptos include: BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, XRP, BAT, REP, ZRX and XLM.
The key thing to know is that Coinbase have bolted on fees wherever they can and this is one of the most expensive cards out there to use. However, I have to give it to Coinbase - the card is super convenient.
4️⃣ Wirex 4️⃣
If you are based in Singapore, Europe or the UK then the good news is that you can get this card.
There is no upfront fee for the card, however, there is a monthly maintenance fee of 🇬🇧 £1 🇪🇺 €1.20. Over the course of a year, Wirex would appear to be more expensive than the Coinbase card.
However, with Wirex you are likely to save way more than that in fees. The card also offers up to 1.5% crypto back on all card purchases. However, to get that top tier cashback, you will need to hold 100K WXT tokens.
Supported coins include: BTC, DAI, ETH, LTC, XRP, Wollo, WAVES, NANO and XLM.
🥉 Monolith 🥉
Again, this card is only available to those living in Europe or the UK. How Monolith differs from the rest is that it connects a non-custodial wallet to a Visa debit card. That’s pretty cool if you don’t feel like trusting your funds with a company.
The card itself is FREE and there are no monthly fees like Wirex. Fees are very straight forward and you can avoid the 1% card top-up fee by using DAI stablecoin.
Most people won’t have to pay any fees at all when using a Monolith card and that’s why I think it’s one of the best cards around.
🥈 Bitpay Card 🥈
This card is US only and it’s brought to you by one of the longest standing businesses in crypto. As it’s a Visa card, you can use it practically anywhere. It is accepted in 50 US territories and you can fund your card using crypto deposits, direct debit or ACH bank transfers.
Both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are supported.
There is a one off fee of $10 to get the card and there are no monthly maintenance fees. You should know that ATM withdrawals in the US will cost you $2 a pop. Honestly, I think the fees for the Bitpay card are pretty damn reasonable and I don’t see why you should look any further than this one if you are living in the US.

Crypto.com offers five different tiers of cards and these are available to you if you are based in the UK or Europe.
Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP and MCO are all supported.
The Crypto.com blue card is my top choice for anyone looking for a FREE crypto card. Here you get 1% crypto cashback right off the bat which is the highest I have found for this type of card.
ATM withdrawals are charged at 2%. So, if you are likely to be rinsing that cash machine then you might want to consider the Monolith card.
However, my top crypto card has to be the composite metal Ruby Crypto.com card. However, you will have to stake 50 MCO coins to get it (~$275). The cool thing is that this is not a fee and you can get those tokens back later.

I've had the MCO Jade Green card for 8 months. It's been used in 4 countries and gotten me into airport lounges at 6 different airports around the world. I'm barely middle class but it makes me feel like a roller.
Yeah Robert, that’s exactly it. You get that complete VIP feel with the jade card and above. The only problem right now is that it doesn’t seem likely that any of us will be hopping to an airport any time soon.

Can’t go past the MCO ruby card use it regularly. Sometimes it is not accepted which annoys the crap out of me because of the perks I want to use it for everything. Great content well explained thumbs up here mate from Australia 🇦🇺
Another perk with mco card is that the fiat and crypto portion is separate. You can top off with whichever and get the mco cash back.
So you can use it just like a debit card from a bank account and get cash back. I don't know of any debit card that does that, traditional or crypto.
Exactly. That’s a huge bit of value that I don’t think many people appreciate. Buy stuff that you would get anyway and get crypto cashback. Sounds like a good plan to me!

Yep. Have a % direct deposited from my work every payroll for spending. Either to buy crypto or spend on whatever. It's pretty neat.

All you need is the routing and account number for the fiat wallet in the app. Can't remember how to get it exactly but it should be an option when you select the wallet to deposit or something like that. You send that to the payroll /hr team at your work and let them know the amount you want deposited.

@@drunkwizard this is a prepaid debit card that you top up with fiat. You do not spend crypto, but you can sell your crypto on the app to use for the card.

With this being said, it will be fantastic if you can eventually post a video about each of the top 100 or so projects listed on coinmarketcap. I know being in the top 100 does not make a project good, and sometimes they are artificially inflated. This is even more of a reason it will be helpful if you can feature each of those projects you have yet to review. You have already covered many of them. You have covered maybe half already, so hopefully you can gradually continue adding videos on some of the other crypto projects listed within the top 100 you have not yet gotten to. Coin Bureau so haven’t got it yet but just been playing around with crypto.com and mco and seems like a worthy investment especially with perks of the different cards. That jade green looks tempting due to airport vip lounging and if you think you may get a return in 6 months. The only problem I am experience is most times I try to buy mco Visa requires additional security from my US bank which is Chase so US based folks may find this annoying. They don’t allow you to permanently remove this security layer which is good and bad. I’m excited to put it in use soon and been telling my friends so hopefully people get excited and on board.
Coin Bureau crypto.com has some interesting staking especially on percentage of usdc. You think based off their staking they could be a better option than binance as an exchange if you want to stake? That should definitely be an incentive for people to start to trade on their platform.

Guy - any thoughts on PLUTUS debit card (Token - PLU). Heard they’re always coming short on card shipping + tons of limits on daily spending/not enough liquidity on their native DEX. Although the concept of crypto to fiat conversion on the spot is interesting

Good segment and good crypto topic. Gaming, defi and these cards that make crypto valuable in the real world and usable as a financial instrument are key to mass adoption. I like the 3rd level just above Ruby Red because of the additional perk of 6% MCO staking.

@@toddmullis8051 You cannot use any crypto to pay directly with your card. You have to convert first crypto into fiat and then use it. There are no fees involved so this is not an issue. I use mine daily
Alex Ch And dont forget, you get cash back on everything, but paid back in MCO that you can convert to any crypto or deposit into fiat or just leave it and build up your MCO👌 I love my Ruby Card.
@@toddmullis8051 no there's a handful of them, 6 or 7 I think. You just buy or deposit btc/altcoins on to the platform, then in the app you can instantly convert and deposit however much of that you want for card use. I can do it from my phone and then instantly use my card a few seconds later

Regarding the question, I am afraid I am not a tax advisor. However, in the UK you do have a £12K capital gains allowance. Obviously, if there are set laws in your country when it comes to things like crypto cards then you should certainly follow them.

Living in Canberra and using it daily & getting daily cashback. Also have free Netflix as well as Loungekey benefits with it for oversea's trips. Have gotten some $50 referral bonuses from it and am using the EARN feature in the app for getting interest on my crypto. Best card in Australia hands down. I know of people that have them in NZ, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney already.

Guy, I have the ruby MCO card. I have only topped up with fiat. If you top up with crypto, do you participate in the underlying crypto price volatility before the debit card is used for purchases or is the crypto exchanged for some stable coin to “manage” the volatility? Just curious if you know before I do this...
Hi Nate, no, at present with the MCO VISA Card you sell your crypto to fund your (Fiat) card wallet prior to using your card. This way you can generally choose when to sell your crypto at a price you are comfortable with. SOME companies will tell you that their cards do "conversion on the fly" but a lot of the time it is other backend stuff happening on their platform. If it is a VISA card they (VISA) do not allow it anyway. You can also imagine going to pay using crypto, selling your crypto at the same time there is a flash crash and then not having enough funds left for the purchase, not good. The current way Cryptocom are doing it is IMO the best way. As a point of interest they can change to auto convert "on the fly" at any time in the future if it does make sense as they already have that capability built in and can flick the switch at any time. However that being said and Cryptocom being the industry leaders that they are, and serious about security and compliance they are currently looking at mechanisms whereby you can hold your crypto but spend against it, so am looking forward to how they develop this.
