I then, after about two years was told that their stance with buying and selling crypto had changed and they closed my account. I had to remove and money that I had in there. I then found out that Natwest was now supporting crypto purchases so I went back to them. So now Natwest is back at it again with "for my protection" banning crypto purchases to Binance. They are running so scared as they know their days are numbered. They can't stop crypto and realise this so they are making the on/off ramps impossible!!

They also hate that transaction throughput is being exponentially improved and people are in a position where they may start to genuinely use crypto for transacting actual business outside their feifdoms.

Another great video Guy! One point to make - First Direct is part of the HSBC Group, and Halifax is part of the Lloyds Group. Whilst there isn't anything about Lloyds in this video, it is likely that both banks will follow the approach of their overall Group. This means that First Direct will probably soon take the same approach as HSBC. If Lloyds decide to take any anti crypto action it's likely that Halifax will do the same. I've spent the best part of a decade working in similar organisations (in conduct risk, trying to keep on the right side of the FCA as it happens) and these sorts of things usually come from on high and are applied across the Group, so just one to bear in mind if you're a customer at either of these

Top tip: Use Nexo where you can simply make a bank transfer (with no fees) in fiat. Nexo can just be used for high interest savings on £, $ and Euros, but they have an exchange where you can buy the major cryptos, and again, you avoid any fee swapping your fiat to crypto. I also use Uphold and Halifax have not given me an issue about it.

Watched this video again and wished I had remembered the comment by Guy about keeping under the radar, I certainly was a large blip on the radar and no doubt the reason for losing the account.

I had a crypto transaction stopped by them too but I gave their fraud office a ring and they were sound. I really like Nationwide, they have good fraud prevention teams and are always very easy to contact and helpful. They do tend to be quite cautious, so I have had my account frozen before, but I feel like they are trying to provide good protection, rather than trying to interfere with my banking.
