I want everyone to remember that Hello Games was a small indie studio that got picked up by SONY, got WAY too much pressure to deliver on, promised to deliver over time, ACTUALLY DELIVERED and are now making a new game called Light No Fire. I'm excited this time because now they have the expertise to pull it off from day 1.
They did really well to turn the game into something good, but blaming the studio entirely is just inaccurate. They straight up lied about what the game was going to be on launch.
It's almost as if people trust the company to respect that investment and give them something that is worth the money. Amazing what some integrity and putting your customers first can do. I hope all the major studios are taking notes.
@@MisterMick113 Many of them are. CP2077 devs said that they were inspired by Hellogames work ethic, when CDPR went to work on their Cyberpunk's Phantom Liberty expansion. I own and support both games developers, and will continue to do so.

@@demonicdragongod3334 ehh I beg to differ tbh. Cyberpunk just had to fix their game. No man’s sky had to create all the content that was missing. That’s a much harder task.
cyberbug is still a mostly lifeless empty shell, not even half of what was originally pitches. NMS is ~80% now of what they originally pitched. But to be 100% they need to add player agency on a grand scale, you need to be able to actually determine which species controls entire systems through your actions and the collective actions of others at a MINIMUM
No Man's Sky has become a glorious expression of what passion for your project looks like. It is truly amazing what Hello Games have made and continue to make.
Is the limited event still available? I haven't touched this game in a couple of years and even back when I first played it they had already completed their redemption arc. I've been waiting for them to drop Worlds Part 2 but it looks like I might miss out on some goodies.
Never seen a dev team redeem themselves like no mans sky has. Even if you hate the game, you gotta respect the fact that they never gave up and kept working on the game.
I do respect them for that. I also respect them for keeping the updates free. I didn't respect them for plagiarizing every other game out there, and because even now after 8 years the game has a glitchiness to it that makes the original Skyrim release look as stable as the SNES.
It's so crazy to me that is one of the fewest instances of a game overpromising and underdelivering, and then instead of abandoning fans and moving on, making things right for years and years after. Sean Murray is the man!

That said...No Man's Sky is the only game I'd wait until it was full price just to show how much I support the devs. Meanwhile, HelloGames keeps dropping new updates every 3-6 months and putting it on SALE for 50-60% off so anyone who wants to can easily experience the game. What. A. Fuckin. Top notch company. I sometimes get bored in NMS, its not always the game I want to play rn...but man, its probably my favorite game just because of how much I trust and respect the devs/company. Would Bathesda/Zenimax respect my time, money, and player requests? Nah. Fallout76 is still a cashgrab and ESO has probably the most toxic cash shop in gaming. What about Activision? Nope. I thoroughly enjoyed DMZ on WZ, but they abandoned it because it wasnt earning enough profit-made it pve with zombies and locked it behind a full game purchase...which includes an extra like 160mb of downloads for CoDHQ? Whack. NMS is just such an oasis of what gaming SHOULD be. I love it.

There's already been a combat update/overhaul or two I think. One just last year or year before adding actual good weapons and stuff to combat the mechs and what not. It's coming, just a matter of time.
Just like how the just overhauled the sentinels combat and variations. Getting a high wanted level is much more intense than it ever was before. Mechs sent out, sentinel dogs, all sorts of stuff.

These dudes are creating a fantasy game now and I have to say I am extremely excited. They turned this game around and I can only imagine they will do great with this now.
This is the only thing I still heavily dislike about NMS, the FOMO tactic used on expeditions, there's honestly no reason for them to be limited time since ALL of the data is still in the game just wasting space except for the people who have actually done them, like even just being able to get expeditions as random quests (although very lengthy ones) would be way better than the current system
I love that they are adding stuff, but you know it's really all just then preparing for light no fire, so you know it's going to be a fire game when it hits, can't wait

The only problem with the mech armor is if you complete the expedition with the same save as your normal game then you won't be able to add the parts after the expedition is over. It doesn't appear as installable tech, and if you go to the quicksilver agent it says you already claimed the set. So slight bug there.
I absolutely _love_ the way this company has been doing things! It seems like everywhere I look these days companies are screwing over the customers & employees in order to turn a profit for the shareholders - so it's a shock to my system each time No Man's Sky gets yet another _MASSIVE_ update, for _FREE!!!_ If this continues to be their business model, I'll absolutely be buying their future games for full price whenever I'm able because, imo, the product is well worth the value, for a refreshing change!
I gotta say, they really redeemed themselves with NMS, it is amazing. I've spent many hours in it, the only issue I was with it is the ship flight and multiplayer is sort of yank and not really what I was looking for, sometimes I wish I could just combine ED, Star Citizen and NMS and get like the best parts from each.
Played it for like an hour on release by a friends. Never thought I'd say this about No Mans Sky, I bought it and it's awesome! I even think about getting a vr2 headset just for this game
I love this game and the developers earned my respect for their dedication. I found a floating island planet a year or two ago, and made it home to my main base. maybe they just made them more common?
I might actually be interested in playing No Mans Sky now. I remember the controversy, and their redemption, but my backlog has been so massive I really haven't had time for many new games. But this...this and Star Citizen's Pyro update have me extremely interested in space games again.
Their art team truly is some of the best in the business. I'm so glad they have that unique aesthetic, it is so well done. And that's not even talking about the writing team. They're amazing. Great art, great writing, great gameplay? This game is too good to be true, but it is.
Highly underappreciated game because I heard the release was crap but I’ve been playing it every day starting just a couple months ago and it’s absolutely incredible
All these updates are phenomenal, however, I pretty much have gone all in on my character being a Pirate Admiral. My freighter base has around 2 years of work so far, and it's the thing I'm most proud of. I want more stuff for your freighter, and the one thing I have asked for for years, fleet battles. I want to be able to engage in a pirating operation with my fleet, or defend it from sentinel forces because of the cargo hold full of contraband.
I was one of the many players who bought it at launch and was highly disappointed. I hated the devs. But they really showed what their true vision was in the following years.
At this rate, in 20 years, we will essentially be able to make a life-size, photorealistic, explorable open-world videogame the size of our universe, that would take 3,000,000,000,000,000 years just to speed run the entire map. Cant wait!
Honestly, I enjoyed the giant fishing trip more than liquidators. There's only so many times you can land your ship, disembark, and immediately get swarmed by monstrous horrors until it just becomes tiresome. But fishing on a little floating platform that will absolutely dump your backside overboard when the weather gets choppy? Heck yes!
Just bought the game, and I'm enjoying it. Major respect to Hello Games. They've really busted their asses, and you can see the love and passion they have for their game. We need more of this in the gaming industry.
the devs took reputation on credit, releasing a bad game at launch and then paying what they owed to the public over time, now the game is actually good.
I always secretly knew on some level that NMS was a plagiarized amalgamation of other games, but when I saw them put in literal Zerg Banelings, the Astroneer dig tool, and actual Star Wars ship parts complete with R2 units, I knew I was wrong. Truly an original masterpiece. 🙃
I bought this game frieday and honestly its been so long since i played a game do fun where i can enjoy for hours none stop even start a new game makes the game feels brand new still i really do hope they dont stop updating this master piece of a gem
Facts here, and seeing this major redemption and how much their players matter to them has my more actively following Hello Games now and eager to support future games they make.
I gave this game 140 hours a few years ago, and early updates constantly ruined my bases. I rebooted my old save and its like I'm playing a sequel! I'm rebuilding and trying to remember where my mining worlds were
FINALLY. Hello Games might be small, but they work hard and they love making their games better. Anyone who might be worried about them shouldn't. They take their time with updates, as we can see, so we can assume that they have long breaks between each time they work on these games. I loved this game from the very first release, so I am glad they are finally getting the love they deserve.

What's funny is that people are begging to Sean that they want to give him money. Hahaha
Shut up and take my money
A redemption along there with Cyberpunk 2077 as well
It took a while but they got there.
Arguably though, cyberpunk was a finished and good game when it released, it just was too buggy to actually play. No man’s sky was playable, just void of any content.
@@musicbyknight95212 sides of the same content if I can't play your game without crashing constantly you have a bad game
The amount of content for free is mind blowing. My fav game and most played for a very long time
No Man's Sky has become a glorious expression of what passion for your project looks like.
"Sky Islands are now in the game." Sir Sky islands have always been in the game. It's called funny world generation.
Well shit. I haven't played since the derelict freighters update, guess I should hop on again
Jump in!
@@mattk6719 Plagiarizing every other game out there? Lmao what?
I'm glad I'm learning about a limited time story 4 months after this video was released.
In other words, the game looks awesome! Now get on and “do your part” to help complete those community challenges!
Something feels Helldiversy in this sentence..
Hello Games...They could've took the money and run off, but they just keep going and going. Real heros of the industry❤
I have 1,207 hours played in game and still love it
Just started a few days ago and loving it
I'm sure that all of these updates comes to test new techniques for their future game. It will be amazing
It's so crazy to me that is one of the fewest instances of a game overpromising and underdelivering, and then instead of abandoning fans and moving on, making things right for years and years after. Sean Murray is the man!
Im a cheap gamer.
Still on ps4, refusing to get a ps5 until I see a ps5 pro-seriously disappointed it hasnt come out yet tbh.
Havent bought a CoD since BOIII. Rarely buy DLC for any games. Fuck buying cosmetics imo-if I cant earn it, Im definitely not paying for it.
I love it.
It's a response that needs to be studied, honestly. From what they over promised and undelivered to not just cut and run but instead dig in and GET TO WORK for the community. Huge response.
@@SPLShortStories I can't wait to see what they do with their next game.
@@SPLShortStoriesthey planned to continue the game like they did before the botched launch. In fact I had no idea why there was such major outrage for a long time. Turns out that despite prior multiple times stating that they were not having multiplayer at launch, somehow that became a claim just prior to launch. They were never going to just drop the game and leave it. I was hyped about this game since 2014 and had read nearly everything Hello Games had said. Sure launch was bad, but I knew that wasn't the final product. But hey, I did my research.
I forgot about this game for over two years, thanks for the reminder to try it out again!
I hate limited stuff, but the whole rest of the update is absolutely mesmerizing
Why hate? this means there will be multiple expeditions with unique content, makes it more exclusive.
@@danielat544that’s exactly the part to hate, or at least dislike. I started playing a week or so ago and if I never get the chance to do the other 13 expeditions I’ll be missing on a metric ton of cool things, like the razor crest looking ship that is absolutely amazing.
@@Lokolopes7 Did you hear that they were going to eventually sell those items in the Quicksilver store at the Anomaly?
@@Lokolopes7 the game has been out for 8 years dude, you've had plenty of time to get on it and do thise expeditions. Granted, I get your pain but even I only have myself to blame as I've let the game sit on the shelf for years. Hate all you want, but that isn't going to change anything. Exclusives are a good tactic for getting and keeping engagement because of the feeling you have that you missed out. Exclusives aren't going away so you might as well learn to tolerate them at least.
@@danielat544 That sounds fine to me, cos it sounded like they would never be available again, even if it's just an exclusivity thing for 6mths and I can earn/buy it later like I just don't mind if it's such a long and ongoing game😊
Missing limited content always pushes me further away from coming back. I am happy for this game coming so far though, I really enjoyed my time with it.
No Man's Sky: The story of trash turned to gem
I just started playing this game 3 weeks ago, and I have not been this in Love with a title since The Witcher 3.. I am in Love with this Game, it tins like a Dream on PS5. HelloGames, you guys are F*ckin Awesome
This might get me back into the game cause this is how you make up for a poor launch.
dawg it launched so long ago this game has been revived for awhile
They've done a hard 180!
@@flacogtcsh I know I have had this game for years now, but got bored with it and it didn’t look like this when I was playing and I might fire it up to see what else they have added. As a small indie company of like maybe 30 people at this point (they only had 12 on release) this is the only game I’m giving a pass to for a bad release.
@@martinpat94 gotta think though Nms was ambitious from the start, specially from a small company but they made it work.
@@flacogtcsh for sure it was ambitious and given the time they needed they have been doing more then almost any AAA company and all the updates have been for free
No Man's Sky is a case study that needs to be shown to game developers old and new
And all for free.Well done H.G.
I am fascinated at *how many* transitional segue's you had to do in this video xD
Stop Sean! We forgave you already!
Sean will never rest apparently...
And still no micro payments or season passes….
All will be forgiven when the players can collectively decide political lines across entire systems and even sectors.
No, don't stop Sean. Keep executing on the vision, it's a great one. We will find ways to buy things from you now, just because we trust you.
Keep that writing team and art team close! don't let them escape into the wild! They're hidden gems, right next to you and your software engineers brilliance.
You compete with the best in the world like the devs at ArenaNet/GW2. That says a lot.
This looks like a cool testing environment for Light no fire!!! Cant wait.
Is the switch version going to get optimisation on graphics so it doesn't look like an oil painting anymore?
No, it's switch what do you expect
That's the peak of what the switch can do. Nintendo refuses to compete with the other consoles. You get what you get from them
I have noticed graphical improvements in the Switch version.
If you have the oled switch it actually looks decent, frames aren't amazing at times but it's a switch I'm just glad I can play one of mt favourite games having a number 2😂
Yeah and then we play Star Citizen on a Nintendo Wii
love how the story and experience just evolves and is never ending
Bro unlocking the mech skin through the optional goals is impossible. The insane amount of enemies you need to kill to get even the first award is a full time job.
It's a collective effort, not individual. If it looks impossible you can thank the players who are speed running the Expedition and quitting it.
@@Linerunner99 Yeah I figured when I logged back on today. Kind of annoying.

Building out that engine for light no fire and it looks like we are in for an awesome game
The only thing that feels lacking in this game is the combat. I know combat isn’t the main point of the game, but I really believe that there would be a huge influx of players if they improved it somehow.
@@gagedilley5238 I hope you’re right
@@gagedilley5238 even fighting the sentinels after the update they got doesn’t feel great after a short while
@@tetchedskate3366 I agree. But I'm sure it'll get touched again.
i honestly miss this game so much, i used to play it on console a couple years ago. will soon start playing and relearning again on pc this time, excited to get back into it.
At this point the people are like come on hello games how about a paid dlc lol
The amount of dedication from the devs is next level
Hello Games is an example of how game studios should be.
Make a mistake? Own up to it and fix it.
They've redeemed themselves multiple updates ago, but they keep going.
I love that they are adding stuff, but you know it's really all just then preparing for light no fire, so you know it's going to be a fire game when it hits, can't wait
imagine youre developing "light no fire" and feed your previous game the newly created features :D well played
Sean Murray should be awarded a noble prize. Imagine what would’ve happened if Ubisoft, ea, etc. would’ve made this game.
I bought this last week. Awesome fun so far. A game that you buy only once? What a concept!
I bought this game may be a little over a month ago and I’ve already sunk over 100 hours into it. I think this is one that I will play for years. And there’s no game I have ever felt so pulled to as this one
For years hello game has made improvements to this game and I have nothing ever to say bad about it they have made up for the troubles in the past and at the same time all of it is free they don't charge nothing all the games out there are way bad in every aspect and yet they still charge you for the fixes of their mess ups Hello Games if you're reading this you have done a great job and we all forgave you all years ago thanks for all your hard work that you are continuing to do
The only problem with the mech armor is if you complete the expedition with the same save as your normal game then you won't be able to add the parts after the expedition is over. It doesn't appear as installable tech, and if you go to the quicksilver agent it says you already claimed the set. So slight bug there.
I absolutely _love_ the way this company has been doing things! It seems like everywhere I look these days companies are screwing over the customers & employees in order to turn a profit for the shareholders - so it's a shock to my system each time No Man's Sky gets yet another _MASSIVE_ update, for _FREE!!!_
If this continues to be their business model, I'll absolutely be buying their future games for full price whenever I'm able because, imo, the product is well worth the value, for a refreshing change!
Glad I never gave up on these guys and kept playing from the start.
The staff you have and the ship w the circle wings, how do I get those??
Played it for like an hour on release by a friends. Never thought I'd say this about No Mans Sky, I bought it and it's awesome! I even think about getting a vr2 headset just for this game
Idk about gameplay cause I haven't played but the work this developers have gone through with this game is slept on.
I hope at some point they add cataclysmic events that can either destroy a planet or completely alter it altogether. Make it a rare event of course
Good for them, I always knew they had it in them, never played but I’ve always loved the concept and how it looks.
I was one of the many players who bought it at launch and was highly disappointed. I hated the devs. But they really showed what their true vision was in the following years.
Speaking of new creatures i actually found a creature that looks like a football. Literaly like how cool is that
At this rate, in 20 years, we will essentially be able to make a life-size, photorealistic, explorable open-world videogame the size of our universe, that would take 3,000,000,000,000,000 years just to speed run the entire map.
Remember folks, this was only Worlds Part 1. Can’t wait to see what part 2 brings
The studio boss took this personally
the devs took reputation on credit, releasing a bad game at launch and then paying what they owed to the public over time, now the game is actually good.
7:54 if you look at the top of the room theres one in there with you😂😂
I bought this game frieday and honestly its been so long since i played a game do fun where i can enjoy for hours none stop even start a new game makes the game feels brand new still i really do hope they dont stop updating this master piece of a gem
I appreciate that you pixilated the first spider.
Legend has it, this game is still updating in the year 2100
Facts here, and seeing this major redemption and how much their players matter to them has my more actively following Hello Games now and eager to support future games they make.
I gave this game 140 hours a few years ago, and early updates constantly ruined my bases. I rebooted my old save and its like I'm playing a sequel! I'm rebuilding and trying to remember where my mining worlds were
I might just go ahead and get this game now. Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of it and I feel like it’s time to try it out
This game should be in the game devs text books and taught in school.
I absolutely LOVE how they updated the water!!! ❤❤ I can't wait to see more!!
No Man's Sky be like: "There's no one going to try and outdo us? Fine. We'll do it ourselves!"
it all sounds good except for the limited time part
I dont belive my PC can handle this level of immersion
Im still waiting for the "landing on an asteroid" feature, Idc if that helps at all, I just want to be able to Land on an asteroid, exit the cockpit with a cable attached to the ship and mine asteroids
Oh that's really cool! I still have my PS4 copy from when it first came out , might have to give it a try again
I'm so hooked on this game. I played every night when I come home. I just love the exploration part of it.❤
Sounds like I joined this game at the right time. Just bought it last week when I got my steam deck.
What's more is Light No Fire looks to be even better! Hello Games have cemented their status as legendary developer.
