I've never understood wars anyway. It always sounds like a flex with no goal towards making us all better. So, I agree that more music and less war sounds like a peaceful union. Thank you for your service, sir.
I agree God Bless you my family are Military and Army people thank you so much for your services!!!!! I love you people you guys are great!!!! @ Michael Beck
Agree with you Sir all the way. Let's give the younger generations to grow up with Love, laughter and joy. The older generations have robbed the young ones off so much of life. It is a crime against them.🎉🎉🎉
They look like they are having so much fun. It’s what music is all about and exactly why it’s universal. This is jumping in any language. Bravo! Outstanding performance.🙏🏾
Completely awesome! All these musicians were in the zone. It sounds so good and is so enjoyable! There aren't enough superlatives to express how happy this make me feel!
Six years after this was posted it suddenly popped up in my recommendations and I am glad it did. My son and daughter were both percussionists in high school band. I wish they had taught them this! Awesome!
Reminds me my native country Zimbabwe where this is what we grew up playing and listening to until Mugabe and his crooks destroyed the core that united us all. Now it’s history. Cry beloved country. Marimba of Africa plays on like a violin of Europe. Beautiful team and I enjoyed this.
I know exactly how you feel. I'm from South Africa. And I will always feel that criminal corrupt crooks stole my dream of growing old in my own country.
My first time hearing this wonderful cover. To each and every one of you on the stage, I offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks. Such energy. Such joy. If only the rest of the world worked this hard to find harmony, what a beautiful song all of life would be. Mahahol and thank you...
I just turned 80 a few weeks ago. And only now did I come to understand what "stage left" (or right) meant. Never really gave it much thought, but if asked I would've guessed the meaning backwards. Who says you can't learn on the internet.🙂
I'm a 68 year old male and in all sincerity..... the work of these young people... when that song ends.... it literally brings tear to the eyes... it's T H A T Good!
LOVE this band! Super musicians, equally good performers providing the audience with a great experience. Honored to be asked to help present them in Gig Harbor, WA this summer. Hoping to do it again in 2024!
Those kids were having a blast playing that song. Those 3 boys were really in the groove. Very talented group of kids! Hope they are still playing even though they are out of high school!
That was beautiful. I've listened to lot of versions of the number. Along with others, I enjoy them as I find them, one an instrumental, one a choral, another on xylophones, which could be classed as an instrumental subclass, along with orchestral as a subclass, etc. I was impressed by the ladies in the front row, carrying the tune, and by the two payers in the bass section, the top row. Enough rambling. Suffice it to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would highly recommend it to fans of xylophone and/or the title song.😄
Which one is "the original"? This is a traditional South African song, introduced to Western audiences by the late Miriam Makeba. "The Lion..." is just another ripoff of African culture.
This group of young enthusiastic musicians are needed in the present atmosphere of "face down on your phone instead of working together on something fun". I watch it happily every week. Hope they are all well and thanks to the producers. I am a 30 years veteran retired paramedic in Ontario Canada Al Bestem
The energy and enthusiasm in this performance is incredible. From the girls in the front swapping between rhythm and melody, to the boys stage left swapping instruments, then all playing the one. All done without sheet music, too. Did anyone ever get them into a recording studio for this track? I would have loved to have heard a professional sound mix but I guess too late now as it looks like this was recorded six years ago. The best arrangement I've ever heard of this classic number, thank you :-)
Guys, I Can't stop listening to you. What a great performance... Greetings from the Netherlands!! You are so good!!! A very nice Musical Tune!!!! Love your Music!!!!!
PURE JOY ! LOVE THE ENERGY! COULD TAKE MY EYES OFF THE 3 GUYS SWITCHING AROUND INSTRUMENTS, FAR RIGHT BACK ! THANKS EVERYONE IN THE BAND ....FANTASTIC INSTRUMENTAL OF A TIMELESS FAVOURITE !!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is so cool! I remember when this first came out. I always wanted to be able to sing that high part (falsetto/countertenor). Such good memories. THANKS!!!
This requires huge financial support from the community to have this type of music in schools. Those marimbas cost a lot! My 6th and 7th graders play xylophones. I would give anything to have 10 steel drums for my classroom.
@francesdalton4345: Since you are involved in music, when those kids make it look easy and effortlessly and you know that they had practiced a LOT, and I mean a LOT to sound that good.
I don't remember when I first discovered this, but it went straight onto a playlist of playful songs that I bring up when I'm in an exceptionally good mood or when I'm having a rough day and I need a reminder that the world is a place where a bunch of talented musicians will put in a whole lot of work for the specific purpose of having fun. This one is marvelous, because I can listen while I'm doing something else or get up and dance. And I'm very, very envious of anybody who gets the chance to make music this way.
This is/was wonderful. It took me two tries to figure out who was actually playing the tune, then I settled down to REALLY enjoy it……. these people are fabulous!!!! Thank you.
What a show! Great!!!!!!!!!!! More!!!!!!!!!!! The five frontwomen are playing the hell out of their bodies!! There is nothing to add: "They look like they are having so much fun. It’s what music is all about and exactly why it’s universal. This is jumping in any language. Bravo! Outstanding performance."

The late South African international superstar Miriam Makeba, who introduced this song to Western audiences before The Tokens stole it, said in her autobiography "Sangoma", that the name of this song is "Weemoweh", but what did she know? 🤨
Terrific arrangement all right, but I did miss the "A wim a way" section, with the bass "On muh way" tag. Then there's the "Oh -- oh oh oh oh oh on muh way." It was great for what it was, but a whole lot was .missing.
I'm a retired U.S Army veteran so I speak from experience. More of this and no more wars and we just might make it.

In the zone. Yep. That's what I remember about being a musician.
Six years after this was posted it suddenly popped up in my recommendations and I am glad it did. My son and daughter were both percussionists in high school band. I wish they had taught them this! Awesome!

@@Only-me-observing That is why I am living Thailand, my country has gone with the DOGS.
I am from Zimbabwe and I learned the marimba - this is awesome!

Masterpiece of arrangement. That was an amazingly sophisticated arrangement of all of the members of the band.
Ok, what do you thinkmof these guys? You won't recognise the tune, but... ruclips.net/video/cKkrXQo1J58/видео.html
Wow! That was fun. The 3guys stage left who would snake their paths without missing a beat… 😮. Thank you!

Nice, seeing Something else than conflict, poverty, war, and destruction. A contemporary Ode to Joy
Outstanding Performance by wonder young people. Music always reaches inside the heart. God bless these young musicians. Fantastic work!
This was amazing and I wish I had been there! You should all be very proud of this. Such a joy that you bring to your music.
Love it! They all look to be having such a good time!

Agreed. I also enjoyed the two players, stage right, and the one in center front performing the "famous descant" of the song.
Probably the best version I’ve ever heard of this song, besides the original. Incredible!!!
Besides the original? This is a VERY old song. I doubt you've ever heard the original version.

Great playing. Most enjoyable and a pleasure to listen to. 👏❤️❤️❤️👍
So wonderfully joyous! I’m 80, and wish I’d had the opportunity to play like this. I listen to it a lot, and love moving to the rhythm.
My grandson played those instruments in school. He loved them. I love these instruments too. Fun to watch.
Love the energy the three on the right have and how they rotate
Wow, I love this. I could not take my eyes off of the ladies in the front row. They worked their butts off. Thanks for the video.
As we'd say back home, "...going at it like killing snakes."
First off, their all great, but the one that stands out is : the young lady in the front row, far left, is a natural, she’s got the Rhythm
Don't know why this popped up but glad it did, it was amazing! Loved it.

Wimoway (sp?) arrived in the U.S. in the early 50s. It seemed a song of mystery to me. I’ve always liked it.

Terrific arrangement all right, but I did miss the "A wim a way" section, with the bass "On muh way" tag. Then there's the "Oh -- oh oh oh oh oh on muh way." It was great for what it was, but a whole lot was .missing.
Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you all. Keep smiling.
Mesmerizing.
Totally enjoyable
Thank you all! It’s beautiful!
Great teamwork, really cool!
You all are wonderful!
