- Jump Force, while not being a game I didn't really paid much attention to and having a lack of interest in Shonen Jump as a whole, was still something I found to have a lot of missed potential in all areas. This got me thinking of how the game could've been better, particularly when remembering fan requests and predictions for the roster prior to release, which ultimately made me decide to make a video conceptualising a better version of the game despite likely getting some things wrong.

3:42 At one point Cell was generally agreed to be one of if not the best character in the game and was/still is played quite frequently.
As a fan of One Piece (I’m about 700 chapters in) I completely understand cutting Sanji due to that mechanic. It’s accurate to his character (he acts exactly like that in the manga) but accuracy does not always equate to good gameplay. Like how in JoJo Eyes of Heaven Heaven’s door is ridiculously nerfed.
As a HxH fan (I don’t know why the x is silent either) yes Meruem is one of the most popular characters and he’s one of the only characters in HxH who is canonically powerful enough to challenge some of the more god like characters in Jump Force. Not saying he would win against planet destroyers like Beerus.
I had no idea you were a fan of Demon Slayer though having read ahead in the manga I think Tanjiro’s super move would be the Hinokami Kagura (the flame thing he did against Rui) he uses it a lot more later in the manga and it’s implied to be really powerful.
This the problem with license games, any change that might help the game, would case characters to go out of character. For example the developers of Kingdom hearts 3 wanted Elsa to be a boss fight, but Disney would not allow it, but why is Frozen in Kingdom Hearts at all??????????
Fun Fact: Sanji is heavily based on Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs, and he was originally going to be named Naruto, but was scraped for obvious reasons.
Yoh actually can't get into Shonen Jump, because the creator pulled out Shaman King from Jump and switched to a new publisher. Fist of the North Star and Saint Seiya also switched publishers, but it looks like Shaman King's author, Hiroyuki Takei doesn't like Jump anymore. So I don't think You would get into a new Jump Force.
Unless he is a Guest Character because of well, technically, as of the 2010s, he is a part of Kodansha and therefore, he would be the perfect Guest Star of sorts.
Here’s some added characters I would’ve pick for my roster.
Joey Wheeler and Marik Ishtar from Yugioh.
Byakuya and Kenpachi from Bleach.
Tsunade from Naruto
Josuke from Jojo.
I also want to put the other famous Yugioh protagonists (Jaden and Yusei) in the roster but I don’t think that would happen.
I would add Konjiki no Yami (the Golden Darkness) and Moka from Rosario + Vampire as DLC as well.
I think Sakura would make more sense than Tsunade

Now my explanations regarding additional characters: Let's give both Dai and Boruto another chance specially since they're still part of Shonen Jump. Nagisa is also Koro-sensei's fellow protagonists of Assassination Classroom plus he has assassination skills used not just to Koro but also most cases (even in exams too I guess). Let's add these 3 fellow saints of Seiya together to defend both Earth and Athena. Sanji needs some damage even the enemy is also female, but to be fair to his character, his damage is reduced to them. Just like Ace, let's add Jonathan Joestar, Jiraiya, and Itachi too which also have their fans like his. Both Arale and Yoh still needs to be in the base roster because Arale has both comedy and fighting styles (in slapstick) just like both Bobobo and Gintoki, and Yoh deserves more recognition specially for his old fanbases. Raoh is Kenshiro's companion which makes sense if we add him to the roster just like J-Stars before. Oda also deserves to be in base roster too just like both Arale and Yoh (just no other explanation here 😅). Teams 7 of Naruto series is nothing without Sakura Haruno, you know. Busou Renkin is also Shonen Jump too, and its protagonist (Kazuki) is a big sword wielder similar to Allan Walker of D-Gray Man. Joseph have same age as of part 3, specially since this logic also applies between both teen Naruto and Boruto. Sanosuke, Aoshi, and Saito are Kenshin's most important allies in this series. Ochako Uraraka is Deku's love interest, whereas Shigaraki deserves to be in the base roster in order to have boss battle. Just like Jojo crossover, I think we need crossover between Yugioh series, that's why I add its 5 protagonists, as well as Yugi's antagonist (Marik). Kaido (despite being in DLC) also has a lot of potential to face Beerus, Hades, and Broly in this intense battle. There are more support characters to be in the story just like them above. Tsukuru, on the other hand, just simple, his canon film is the continuation of Death Note manga, and his 2d version was in this film's 2d main cover. For both Undead Unluck and RuriDragon, just only personality shown because showing their previous event (which is their current arc) was considered spoilers so we don't.
That's it. 100 Shonen Jump characters (your concept + my concept as addition) plus more support characters (larger then Smash Ultimate tho- 😅). Hope you appreciate it because I help you for that roster, and the rest of your concept (which is story, gameplay, and cosmetics) is up to you. 😉
Something I would love to see if they make Light Yagami and Ryuk is that they make Ryuk more disturbing and creepy, like make his red pupils glow a vibrant yet unsettling red, and have him look more disturbing and a little more scary like his Netflix version (Yes, I know, Death Note 2017 is crap, but come one thing, you can't deny that Ryuk was the best thing in that movie) sure while keeping his Iconic design from his manga and anime, but I think it works for Ryuk if he's disturbing for his opponent and the players.
The graphics look terrible, I wonder if cell shading be more fitting for an anime game. Light in the game looks terrible he is nowhere near as expensive as he was in the show.

Not a bad list for a casual fan of Shonen Jump. This is the roster I would make if I were to create Jump Force myself.

The only thing I would really change is replace broly with either king piccolo or taopaipai because original dragon ball REALLY needs more representation in literally everything.
i was thinking the exact same thing but people might complain that King Piccolo and Piccolo are the same which i though why not make him an alt for him (as an what if) since they could pull a Injustice 2 and Mortal combat 10/11 with the alts with character intro & and i would love to see the Hunter X Hunter cast having a conversation with Mercinary Tao Pai Pai which would be nice

Hey metal blade did you hear that death note is crossing over with the mobile game identity v? So now light will be able to meet persona, promised neverland, and danganronpa characters as yes those ips are in identity v as well.
I would add one more character. L from death note. I like the Light Yagami mechanic you can make it a rock paper scissors thing, where L has an advantage over Light, because he doesn't know his name. L could be a weaker character but when it comes to being Light's rival he's an absolute force.
I really love Light Yagami, but I have to be honest Death Note in an action game would not make sense at all?????? In Fact the reason why death Note isn't an action series is beacause the creator didn't think he was skilled enough to draw action, as well as creating something that would stand out more.

Jump Force is a fighting game referencing Popular Anime.
Death note is to iconic to just forget in an anime crossover.

And for myself, I got four. Cobra from Space Adventure Cobra and Mamiya from Fist of the North Star to please the Old Guard alongside with Akuma Shogun to represent Kinnikuman/M.U.S.C.L.E. whereas for the New Blood side, we need someone who is the wildest pick of all. If it's all possible, then we need a Rekka Fighter. I got it. Chitoge does fit the description to a T of sorts.

exactly, much like the project x zone series and tokyo mirage sessions FE, im weirded out by how the ENTIRE GAME is dubbed with japanese voice acting with no option to change the voice dub to be in english and the lack of english voice acting just turns me off as it reminds me about megaman x6
because of this, it becomes harder for me to get into games like project x zone, tokyo mirage sessions FE (which i thought would be FIXED in the nintendo switch version, but it isnt) and digimon story cyber sleuth
That option would be so cool. Especially since the english cast of some of these series were never featured in any video games

Gintoki, ryotsu, medaka and bobobo's exclusion were (no joke) the reason I never bought jump force.
what are youre thoughts on the whole getting these characters to at very out of character ?
for me it was Izuku calling Picolo a villain despite how Izuku is in his series (and yes i know Picolo was a villainin his dbut series in the original dragon ball but thats basically commom knowlege, & if it was upost to be a knod to it then they did a bad job at it) whih made me upset

it would be crazy to cut him since he his the series main focus now imo
I actually think Joseph from jojo should be the next one because his move set has far more variety due to his very mixup heavy fighting style. The fact that he had to use several tools rather then a stand could add a nice and unusual fighting style compared to every other jojo character.

His whole thing was he wasn't on anyone's side just watching. The death not also can only kill humans so
if they made Sanji not hurt women it would be crazy if it worked on the non humans in the cast.
I do think him using the death note to make people come and do things for him would be cool tho.
YGO is far less down to Earth show then Death Note and its system is inherently more combat based so the equivalency to Light is a bit false. But you still did well with the Death Note thing. The only question is what would Ryuk's moveset be?
Sadly even Ryuk doesn't do much outside scaring a criminal on a bus.
Honestely, Jump Force had potential to be a great game but they fucked it up

Bro missed out on using itachi for the naruto fans probably one of the most beloved characters in the series.
As for dragon ball man id add either broly dbs version after all he is one of the most beloved fan favourites even after his cannon introduction or mabey Jiren ,hit,goku black or fused zamasu seeing that they were popular enough to get their own spots in dragonball fighters

J Stars had a much better roster. These cuts are shocking and baffling. But man, didn’t know that some of these were Jump series.

An idea i had for dlc was that they went down the smash bros route by adding characters outside of shonen jump. Like Saitama, Ryuko Matoi, Issei Hyoudou, Akame, et c

Forget the roster, it's the graphics that bother me. The characters are not very expressive and for a game that celebrates anime that's a big problem. Light definitely looks terrible.

First don't cut any Dragon Ball characters. But switch Buu to kid Buu. Add Gohan, either Teen or Adult.
One Piece, cut Sabo for Nami.
Hunter X Hunter - keep Bisket, cut Kurapika.
Bleach - keep Renji cut Grinjow and Hisugya they're minor character while Renji is like the "Vegeta" or "Sasuke" of the series. Keep Yoroichi. She is to Bleach as Storm is to the X-Men. Heck, she is to ALL Shonen Jump as Storm is to Marvel. Way too historically important to cut.
Yes, cut Dai he's a third party guest who costs 3x the price of a regular character to make. Seeing how Square Enix is...
Naruto - No to Rock Lee. In the entire history of Naruto he had like one fight ever before becoming a cripple. Add Sakura. (Rukia, Sakura and Nami sorta form a Jump trio of iconic female characters in general.)
Saint Saiya, I would have gone with Phoenix but Hades is a good pick too. Actually bit of a sleeper pick I didn't think of.
Yes to Gintoki, he's Shonen Jump's Deadpool. The only reason he was not in Jump Force was the removal of gag characters. Basically Jump Force did what Marvel vs Capcom did with the X-Men. Oh never mind you covered that.
Yes to Demon Slayer, him and his sister seem like good picks.
Yes to Medaka. She's Jump's Wonder Woman to Goku's Superman in a sense. The hair change is called "War God mode"
Yes to Kuro-Sensei. He's not an alien, the government basically pulled a Wolverine weapon X on him. Experimented on him and turned him into an octopus like creature. It's actually a very tragic story but with a comedic slap of paint.
Yes to Tsuna. He's arguably one of the biggest Japan only character in Jump's line up. (From what I read, the creator is racist against non-japaneee and doesn't want his work altered for the west but I'd put him at a Nightwing tier of recognizably for Shonen Jump fans.)
Yes to Toriko, and I'd also toss in Zebra. Both a iconic rivalry. In the crossover you mentioned Zebra even fought Zoro and Vegeta.
Lala does work as a fighter, as the manga goes on more of her (and more so her younger Sister and couple other girls) do fight more. Think of Lala as basically Shonen Jump's Starfire but with tech like Cyborg.
Saiki also works as a fighter as seen in J-Stars which was he was added to before he even had an anime, he's a bit more iconic and popular now and was probably cut because of the "no gag characters" crap.
Shaman King actually is no longer Shonen Jump. The author bought the rights back and sold it to another company.

Yes to those two DLC after I can't spell the names of the top of my head but yeah, readd J-Stars and a new Jojo rep is always good.
Also you want Eve from Black Cat and Toriko from Buso Renkin. Black Cat is a prequel to To Love-ru (sorta) which Beerus cameos in. Tokiko is like girl doc Oct with Raven's personality. Both from classic 2000's series.
Also your story doesn't work because Shonen Jump IS one universe... Just like Marvel and DC.
