Okay this is really really great. What Metal Gear game REALLY needs this type of treatment is Metal Gear on the GameBoy Color. THAT'S the game we MetalGear Fans need!!!
As much as I wish that were to happen, I think there is a 0% chance unfortunately. Hopefully they at least polish it up a bit for a future master collection.
As a lifelong Metal Gear fan, I was very disconcerted about this release, but the more I see of it, the more I see that it was not only a welcome addition to the Metal Gear pantheon, it was also necessary. Anyone & everyone that is a lifelong Metal Gear fan should agree that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the GOAT Metal Gear game, and aside from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes being a remake of the PSOne original Metal Gear Solid - if you're going to remake a Metal Gear game - especially with photorealistic graphics - MGS3 would be the one to remake. My only wish is that Hideo Kojima would come out either in support of this project, or at least to say something....anything about it, because it would make all of the weird merchandising, and pretty girls wearing clothing you can buy, and keychains and the like make more sense; because the whole Calorie Mate promotion at Tokyo Game Show this year is really creepy, almost bordering on disrespectful, because the Calorie Mate tie-in was a promotion that Kojima negotiated back in 2003/2004 for MGS3. I just wish that Kojima would say *something* about this. I would feel better about being excited for it if he did💯
unfortunately, people who are hired to produce things, don't own the things they create when they are employees of the company. in this case, MGS is Konami's property, and Kojima negotiated as a Konami employee at that time. can't be helped, sadly
I actually think Ocelot and Big Boss' faces make sense. Ocelot here looks like a younger version of classic Ocelot from MGS2. And Big Boss here looks like a younger version of the Big Boss we get in Ground Zeroes/MGS V. Still not sure about The Boss. She looks tough here and more masculine, but I feel like if the PS2 Boss walked in she'd still be the most intimidating lol. Something about her eyes.
I’ve seen some demos and cinematics through leaked stuff here and there and whilst there appear to still be a *LOT* of bugs present in the game, overall it looks amazing. There also were a few shots where the new realistic style looked very off, such as Snake’s smile as he’s holding the binoculars during virtuous mission, but overall it definitely seems to work
7:50 you're technically correct about the density of the hornets. But still, if one was swarmed by that number of wasps in the remake in real life, you would still piss your pants and face possible death
I was going to say they needed better lighting on The Boss's eyes at 10:27, then I changed it to 1080p and it was fine. I swear, the absence of a few white pixels changes so much. I had to edit character portraits for a mod I'm working on when I first realized that, and ever since it's been ingrained in my mind.
I think people saying the animation looks stiff are out of their minds. I think that some gamers are just used to seeing over the top Fortnite-like animation and think that it's somehow suitable for a game like Metal Gear. A lot of people don't realize how mind blowing these timeless cutscenes are. I really don't get the criticism. The animations are captured from human performances via mocap studio, so I don't really see how they look stiff. This isnt like MGS1 where the animations were created by hand. Just look at the shot of Snake going over the bridge for instance. Looks absolutely fantastic.
yeah a lot of gamers are use to modern movement where its all over done. there are lots of mocap videos of how they over act there movements for games. i feel like kojima never did that and you can see the subtle movements here well.
It's not the mocap that looks stiff per se, it's the facial animation contrasted with the mocap. Since the original game had fairly low-detail faces, all of Delta's lip syncing seems to have been redone using audio to phoneme software, then manually retouched to remove any obvious errors. This is fine for large open-world games where there's a lot of dialogue, like Cyberpunk 2077. The technology hasn't improved much since it first released, (which was before the original Snake Eater came out), and it can look mumbly, fake, and programmatic. From what I've seen so far, Delta has all three of those problems. The Human brain naturally pays more attention to faces, which results in people thinking the whole package looks bad.
@@dahmainahgaimah2913 Yeah I think they should get actors in that look similar to the characters and do the lip syncing mocap from scratch. I think the facial animations are otherwise fine, but the lip syncing itself is just clearly wrong. They can't make everything looks this good then have the talking like its an animal crossing game or something, its too incongruous.
@@Lord_of_Dread Ironically, stiff facial performance like they have here could very well be *less* distracting than full, complex motion. But of course the only way to know for sure would be to compare both ...
I am pleasedly surprised by the fidelity and the effort put to this. And regarding the discrepancy in some of the models, I want to believe they tried to make them all as close to the originals as possible, but maybe some of them did not look as good or they tried to make them look more realistic, but all in good faith. I have hopes and high expectations for this one.
It amazes me how Kojima was able to create a game with such good graphics back then that there’s almost not much differences looking at with today’s technology…
I’m 100% on board with this remake. It’s 1:1 and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, because I truly think MGS3 is one of the best games ever made, and modernizing it is going to add a lot of QOL changes that keeps you engaged. I think a lot of work went into the character models and making this game look so realistic. Also, if this were a cash grab, Konami would have used UE4 to try to make a profit on PS4/XBO versions. Btw, it’s great to see you covering MGS again, I’ve been a fan of you for a little over 10 years now.

“Everyone who's a fan should share the same opinion as me"
Like, get lost.

Never played snake eater so I'm definitely getting this remake!
I really can't wait for mgs remake it looks better and better each time they show it off for once Konami seems to be doing the right thing for once 🎉
Very excited for this! Be even better if Konami announce MGS4 for the current platforms!
rumors is that mgs4 will be in the collection 2 for booth xbox and ps5 and possibley pc and switch
I’ve seen some demos and cinematics through leaked stuff here and there and whilst there appear to still be a *LOT* of bugs present in the game, overall it looks amazing. There also were a few shots where the new realistic style looked very off, such as Snake’s smile as he’s holding the binoculars during virtuous mission, but overall it definitely seems to work
Snake looks a lot younger in the remake.. which is great considering he was only 29
7:50 you're technically correct about the density of the hornets. But still, if one was swarmed by that number of wasps in the remake in real life, you would still piss your pants and face possible death
This takes me back to the old Yong analysis videos ☺️
Can't wait! Love the old MG series. Had lot of fun playing them! It was unique and still is in many aspect!
The character model the choose for the boss looks very similar to snake. Mother and son, I’m digging it
It’s going to be strange for fans of the original. Seeing this realism is different.
It shows the style in the original was awesome.
Wish they brought back MGO1. MGO1 and 2 were ahead of its time!
I really can’t wait. We are actually coming up on the original release day 11/17
Its hard to get excited these days
I get hard on this trailer
I know I should not, but I am giving Konami a tiny bit of hope.
plot twist: this is actually just a console/PC port of the pachinko game.
Day 1 patch gonna be lit
@@diamondheadify-v5i"wait, it's all pachinko?"
Konami with a SOCOM: always has been
Get yourself a girl that looks at you the way yongyea looks at mgs delta's Volgin
It is impressive for sure. Let's see if they can follow through and do remakes like this for the other games.
love it, i hope this is a return to gaming for konami
As long as they don't censor it, I'll buy it
Lucas if you read this Jins story was concluded in the DLC Iki Island involving his past with his Father andnhis guilt with not saving him.
As soon as I saw Volgin it made my hairs stand on end
The boss and ocelot look alike now
No they don't. At all
Damn I didn't even notice but you're right! That's actually pretty dope narratively
That's because both are family member mother and son ... further in to the game you will have to feat The Sorrow, ocelot father ...
Deceased father.
@@siegel947 I know right. I loved all that
I am pleasedly surprised by the fidelity and the effort put to this. And regarding the discrepancy in some of the models, I want to believe they tried to make them all as close to the originals as possible, but maybe some of them did not look as good or they tried to make them look more realistic, but all in good faith. I have hopes and high expectations for this one.
The filter made everything seem like memory. I liked it.
It amazes me how Kojima was able to create a game with such good graphics back then that there’s almost not much differences looking at with today’s technology…
PISS-YELLOW filter, has the be the official name of this option in the game 😂
"Kept You waiting, huh?"
Me: "Don't worry about it 😆"
I don't care about all the frilly stuff. I just want to see Ocelot's gun spinning bullsh*t! XD
I'm looking forward to press R1.
What a thrill
I really hope they keep the R1 first person view, I love seeing the sorrow hiding behind people
Snake and Volgin 10/10!
And i really love the other models to. Hope for the best now!
