The bloodshot one is my favorite iolite. Cool stone! I like that it can be colorless. Your videos are full of information and very interesting. Great job!
The Bloodshot was my favorite of this episode- never knew it existed! It is fabulous! Iolite is my favorite pleochroic- it is amazing and love that it is called water sapphire also… 😍
Iolite is beautiful! Its some of my favorite colors and affordable! Its durable enough for jewelry and faceting! Its just an all around great choice of gem. And its so beautiful! Thanks for showing one of my favorites
My dad made a deep violet Iolite and 18k yellow cigar band in our store a couple years back. It's an elongated emerald cut and is 10mm tall and only 3mm wide with a bezel setting. The proportions are wicked. I NEED to get a dichroscope after watching this! You guys truly make amazing and irreplaceable content. Thank you for demonstrating how rad iolite is!
Rob looks good in long hair. Maybe a cut that isn't super short? ;) Iolite is pretty. if Vikings used them, that means i could get out there and look for it here in Scandinavia? Thank you for sharing guys!
This was fascinating thank you! Would you ever consider doing an episode on gemstone dice sets for Dungeons and Dragons? like what kind of stones would be suitable, how to look after them and store them etc. I bet it would be right up Rob's street!
I LOVE IOLITE!! This and Rhodolite garnets are my absolute favorites 💕✨ As for the haircut- Rob is handsome and looks great in long or short hair… it’s summer, and it will grown back! Do what your heart desires!
Some cordierite does have pretty strong yellow or orange tones, but the purple/blue of cordierite is pretty distinctive once you've seen it enough. Tanzanite has a purer blue and a purer violet.
I adore Iolite! It was one of the first gems I discovered that had Pleochroism. I have a stunning almost eye clean pear cut stone that shows off the Pleachroism perfectly. It almost goes completely clear, and I’ve also got beautiful emerald cut bloodshot Iolite stone in my collection that has such a unique shimmer from the platelets in it. Both are two of my favourite gems in my collection.
THANKS🙏VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO ON TWO SIMILAR LOOKING GEMS IOLITE & TANZANITE TO THE UNTRAINED EYES! But You Two Clarified Some Stark Differences between the Two Gems👌THEY BOTH R SPECTACULAR INDEED❤️
And btw, I am very new at this Rock Hounding thing and I've learned a lot at my Lapidary Club from several members. And, I've gained a considerable amount of knowledge on mineralogy by watching your videos on youtube. Thank you.
I have a large collection of iolite rough including a perfect blue violet crystal with no inclusions, I have it in chatoyant as well and colorless/ all sorts off diffrent colors and inclusions. I have extremely trycroic and Birefingce is very noticble in these stones. Also found vorobyevite in the same area.
This is why I prefer a pure compacted red rosy jasper, that maintains its monochrome luster throughout Massive amounts of it. Unlike heat treated glass like multi colored conglomerates of dihedral, diconomys of tricolored geology. Whew, say that three times fast in a row! Thank much, & reserve pretty for the pretty one! 👸
that was informative as a nerd. tn TYPE-MOON, there is a mage that uses eyeballs made from Iolite to see magical energy. i thought that is kinda random, but i didnt know iolite was viewed in myth like iceland spar. makes total sense now
Hypothetically speaking. If I knew someone that stumbled across a not huge but definitely not small rough iolite specimen. (It doesn’t seem to fit any other classification) What should that person do? They seem pretty shook up about it. Any possible info would be Great! Thank you. 🙏
Haircut? Absolutely not! Keep it long, while you still have it! My husband had long hair. Guess what happened when he cut it? He started losing his hair! Really. I swear! 😇
What was your favorite specimen? What's your favorite pleochroic gem? Let us know here!
The bloodshot one is my favorite iolite. Cool stone! I like that it can be colorless. Your videos are full of information and very interesting. Great job!
ALL of the Iolite. Any shade, any or no color. Love Iolite.

@@gems My hair is about 2 1/2 times longer than Rob's. Love having it. 🙂
Iolite is beautiful! Its some of my favorite colors and affordable! Its durable enough for jewelry and faceting! Its just an all around great choice of gem. And its so beautiful! Thanks for showing one of my favorites
All true. It's a lot harder to get these days. So glad I bought a ton of it years ago.

I vote NO to Rob cutting his hair, he looks way too good in it 😉 Also, really enjoyed seeing those hematite included pieces, they were beautiful!
I love iolite! It's so underrated!
This was fascinating thank you! Would you ever consider doing an episode on gemstone dice sets for Dungeons and Dragons? like what kind of stones would be suitable, how to look after them and store them etc. I bet it would be right up Rob's street!
It definitely would!

Rob, I have not cut my hair for a few years. This is my second time. I had more regret cutting it than no thus far.
Some cordierite does have pretty strong yellow or orange tones, but the purple/blue of cordierite is pretty distinctive once you've seen it enough. Tanzanite has a purer blue and a purer violet.
I feel like iolite deserves more attention than it gets. Such a beautiful gem
Those cabs are so pretty. The faceted are super pretty too. I might have to look into adding Iolite to my collection.
Also I'm on Team Long Hair Rob.
Iolite is my favorite gem. I have tons of it. All look a little different. Thanks!

What a great episode. I've always wondered how to tell the two minerals apart. Now I know. Thank you!
It's a great presantaion, we have more stones like this
Managed to get hold of 16 iolites accompanied by 16 white topaz's on a piece of jewellery. Beautiful gemstone.
Yup, haircut! Nice and lush but looks best neat and short. Rob's lucky he can sport whatever he wants and still looks good.
Good morning from Australia 🇦🇺
No haircut Roberto. We like the conquistador look. 😅🎉

I love Rob’s hair!
I love these videos! More science!
Tanzanite is one of my favorite stone, but I didn't know that it is in the same family as Iolite. And, with that said, I am leaning forward Iolite
And btw, I am very new at this Rock Hounding thing and I've learned a lot at my Lapidary Club from several members. And, I've gained a considerable amount of knowledge on mineralogy by watching your videos on youtube. Thank you.
Beautiful stones
Love that little flat light. Chased one up on the internet. Use it for everything!

Yes, haircut!
We mine iolite here in Nigeria
What if my favourite was the Tanzanite? Heh. Untreated Tanzanite is just so incredibly stunning!
That’s fine! Rebecca’s favorite was the Tanzanite too! But Iolite is still super cool!

She could let him speak a little. No offense, but Rob is so relatable and knowledgeable.

These days, add deep blue kyanite as another gemstone that might be mixed up with tanzanite, iolite or sapphire
Keep the hair Rob!
I vote against cutting it short.
And a beads episode, pretty please with a cherry on top 🍒 🙏 😊
Working on it!
@@gems awesome!
Rob should keep his hair!
How about Scandinavia? You mentioned Vikings?
Yes. According to GIA, Norway is another source of Iolite.
If you haircut, maybe only a small amount off? But that's just me, do what makes you happy, Rob.

Iolite is in my minecraft mod 😮
Don't cut it. It will make it harder for me to grab. Hint, hint :)
Keep your hair,, till you get real thin on top, then it just looks plain sad.
Enjoy it while you can man
Iolite is cool, not as cool ass those hoop earrings though.
Haircut? Absolutely not! Keep it long, while you still have it! My husband had long hair. Guess what happened when he cut it? He started losing his hair! Really. I swear! 😇
