In this video I got to Toyota dealerships to look at their inventory levels. Toyota has a big problem with inventory right now. I also give some prices of the new toyotas that I find.

I use to sell cars (just quit a week ago after 5 years) and I went from making a steady income to making $1500-$2000 a month. Everything we had was losing money and people couldn’t afford the vehicles even with our inventory losing thousands. I truly felt bad for our Clients because prices are just too high and interest rates keep going up. Toyotas in my state (Texas) have practically nothing on their lot, so they’re still adding a ton of “market adjustments”. It feels good to leave the business, I just got my first non sales job and I’m nervous but I feel way better now.
UPDATE:
I’m a bartender now. Still stressful but not the same kind of stress. I do miss selling cars weirdly, all I think about is cars sometimes. I enjoy giving the regulars at the bar advice on their next purchase. I’ve had some interviews for jobs using my degree so hopefully I find something I love while bartending on the side 🙏🏼

No more stimulus check purchases.
Amen just stop buying them and they will get the message
Too many car shoppers are not doing their homework. They show up on the lot and they believe what ever cr@p the dealers tell them.

In 2019 you could get a 4Runner TRD pro with all the options for 45K, that same 4Runner today will range from 65K-80K. The markups are killing the car industry.
Yeah. It sucks. They are crooks.
The same goes for the enthusiast sports car industry. $35k Nissan 350z's don't sell for under 50k A 50k supra won't go for less than 65k. Everything has at least a 10k to 15k markup, and in some cases, a lot more. You can't get a GR corolla for under 60k, while msrp is 42k.
It's funny how there are still Toyota dealers selling at over MSRP. I went last week to look at a Camry they wanted 4995.00 over because of market conditions. I laughed and told them i would just drive about 70 miles to a Toyota dealer that sells at MSRP. They said the market was tight and that they may not have the car in stock. Yea right they had over 12 of them. 😂
Yep! The one closest is at MSRP, the one 45 miles away has a $3000 "dealer adjustment"
mac this post covid market makes no sense. drove buy a toyota dealership in toms river nj. no new camrys or tacomas on that lot when they usually live. nothing makes sense anymore. eggs at $10 a dozen. people have to be less centric and do what u do. if you have to drive 1000 miles and stay overnight in a motel to save 4500 - do it. why were there no cars, cars and now no cars? what is going on? gm ford and ram have a million pick ups. that market will crash soon.
@@subaruamazon no one wants a ram or does that’s why😂
@@tylerf9400 yeah I was gonna say. No one wants pickup trucks right now. They’re horrible on gas, and overly expensive. Not these lifted Maybachs abominations that look like “pickups”.
I bought my 23 rav4 at msrp they had a 7k mark up with add ons and blah blah blah lol total was gonna be 53k with taxes 🤣 ended up getting it for 39k
Ain't no way in hell that I was pay $80,000 for a truck that only has a V6 engine!!!! That's an easy pass
I saw a report where they said Toyota produced the most cars ever last year with 9M. However, they shipped the lowest amount to the US to keep the inventory low and thus the car prices high.
Saw the same report. Toyota is just playing games to keep the prices up. So sad. Bought a Mazda instead.
Time the Feds got involved...anti-trust laws ! Market Manipulation !
This exact thing happened to my wife and I. We went to Toyota to buy 2 vehicles and 3 hours later we left with a Mazda and a Ford. The mark ups alone was enough to make me leave but the lack of new cars was just ridiculous.
The issue here in Texas is the stealerships. They mark up the price so much that nobody wants to buy one. Its easier to buy a Tesla with the no hassle or hidden fee than paying for markups. For example, I wanted a new GR Corolla which starts at $42k MSRP, the dealerships around me at bare minimum is starting at $60k with fees and "rare car" fee.
These dealerships deserve to go out of business.
Spit my coffee "rare car fees".Thats some next level euphimism for ripoff. We want innovation in cars, but not like this😂
But here in Indiana you get Chucky Cheese point’s worth 100 box if you spend over eighty big ones.
@@sreejithpanikar8781 I agree. A "rare" *BRAND* *NEW* Corolla? It's pretty much price fixing by the manufacturer: Make too few, then charge more because it's "rare"🙄
I live in DFW and gave up on Toyota. They just aren't building enough vehicles. Chances are high that you will pay over MSRP, wait months, and not even get the exact car you want. Don't even get me started on the hybrids.
Been this way at all the local Toyota and Honda dealers since Covid here. If you want something you either have to get really lucky, find an incoming unclaimed allocation and put a deposit down, or order/wait. Many Toyota's are a 6-9 month wait for the popular models. I was able to find an unclaimed allocation for a CRV Hybrid that "only" took me 9 weeks to get. And they only had two unclaimed allocations for a massive dealer so it is what it is. I ended up not getting all the options I wanted but I also did not pay huge markups like many Toyota and Honda dealers are putting on their cars.
It is clear to me at this point that Honda and Toyota like this model to keep prices high and inventory low and they simply refuse to go back to having 60-120+ days of new inventory sitting on lots and having to offer incentives and discounts. They are trading volume for higher prices and it must be working for them.
Smart comment
I'll keep my 20+ year old, paid off, well maintained cars while all the fools pay those $500, $1000, and $1500 per month car notes. Sometimes up to 10 years now. As my grandfather was fond of saying, "A fool and their money are soon parted".
Aint THAT the truth!! AMEN! I own a 2019 Prius, LOVE the new gen 5's but it'll be a cold day in hell, I want car payments again!
You’re 100% right about Toyota losing customers. I looked into trading my 2015 Sienna for one of the new hybrid models, and the response from the dealership, in terms of pricing and availability, was enough to get me to just keep what I’ve got. I’ve been a life long Toyota customer, but I’ve got a pretty bad taste in my mouth about the brand right now.
All-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax LS will go for as low as $17,995 newspaper ad sale price (from $21,495 MSRP) by the end of 2024 model year. Toyota and Honda are in serious trouble.
Toyota is that ugly girl from school who went from a 3/10 to a 5/10 now grown up and thinks they are hot shit. 😂
Absolutely 100% right about the statement!!!! I myself am a Toyota owner and both of my grown children own a Toyota vehicle, however, the price is just out of our reach and it's getting worse. Keeping my Toyota vehicles for now, and NOT getting new ones anytime soon, unless Toyota company would go down their prices way down!!!!!!
@@waltchan lol... only for those who shop only by price. I've owned a lot of Chevies, particularly trucks, and they are nowhere near the quality of Toyota or Honda.
@@strong_voice_of_truth More people are returning back to American vehicles now. Japanese was the past. JD Power currently rates Chevrolet higher in initial quality than Toyota and Honda now. It wasn't like this before in the 1990s.
At the Prescott Arizona Toyota a 29 year old salesman told me prices are high because he needs to feed his family can you believe that? He then went on to state maintenance plan add-ons are mandatory. I am filing a complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commission because these add-on fees are in fact not mandatory. Too funny how this criminal behavior is allowed so he can 'feed his family'. A buyer also has a family to feed. Too comical...
Then another major Toyota dealer in Mesa Arizona has stalled/refused to do a buyer order line item by line item for negotiations. These dealers are all criminal enterprises and should be in jail. Too funny and in 6 months they will have no buyers at all and be living in the streets.

@@castorkat4868 With a drive away price buy order itemized and negotiated, Toyota cannot steal from you - therefore dealerships will not even start the process - to comical...
The fees can be mandatory at the dealer level; the salesman and dealer are in the clear if he didn’t claim it was state or county-mandated.

You're absolutely right when you say that Toyota dealers are going to start losing customers to the competition. My sister and Niece wanted RAV4's last year but ended up driving to the Honda dealership and buying two new Honda CRV's because the RAV4's were never available at any of the Toyota Dealerships in our area.

Something you may want to check out if you haven't. The dates on many of the tires from the vehicles sitting forever waiting for chips or other parts. I've also heard that the spare on many is 2 years older than the others based on the stamp. Not sure if that's something worth checking out. Love your videos!

I have had negative experiences in several Toyota dealerships southwest of the DFW, they overcharge for everything, including on their used cars. They are worse than other dealership brands. Same with service. It's not worth overpaying for these cars.
The used prices were too close to the new prices for Rav4s so I just ordered the trim level that I liked and waited a month. If used prices were more reasonable, I would have definitely bought used.
My local Toyota dealer's lot has been virtually empty for the last two years. Last weekend I drove by and it was full of vehicles. Like overnight, scores of new Camry's, Corolla's, Rav4's, Highlanders, Tundra's and Tacoma's had either just dropped out of the sky or they must have been hiding them somewhere. Of course, silly me, I was looking for a 4Runner and they only had one. 😡
Earlier this year, my 1st choice was Toyota until every dealership I went to tried to add $2000 paint protectant and $1500 lojack to the price. I found a Mazda that is way nicer than the Toyota I was looking at and went with Mazda instead!
Been a Toyota customer since '86. I switched over to Mazda, got a 2 yr old Mazda 3 for a lot less than a Corolla and it's much more car.

These manufacturers have figured out that they can keep inventory low and demand remains high in relationship. There is no incentive for them to change at this point. Harley has been using this business model for years.
Thats what I think. They are purposely keeping inventory low to keep the prices high.
It also allows them to be more selective on parts to hopefully retain reliability.
No, Toyota has, because Toyota's customers (like H-D's) are very brand loyal. The other brands have tons of inventory and decent incentives. Go look at Mazda, Subaru, Buick etc.
i think it will catch up to them eventually. ford, gmc and ram will crash soon. remember how many people buy harleys? how many buy f150's there is a difference.
Keep inventory low/price high doesn’t help long term for dealerships, if there’s not millions sold around the world, there gonna get any labour/parts repair much lol
I've owned a Toyota of some type continuously since 1987. Probably averaged buying a new Toyota every 3 years or so. Absolutely love their vehicles. I have always thought that their dealerships were a little shifty but I always managed to get the vehicle I wanted at a mutually agreeable price. But post-2020, forget about it. The dealers are absolute scum, with ridiculous markups and the sleaziest salespeople I have ever dealt with. For the first time ever I have no newish Toyota in my driveway. Post 2020 I've bought a Hyundai, Subaru and my latest buy is a '23 Honda Ridgeline (all purchased below MSRP). Tried to buy a Toyota instead of the Honda, but there's no way I'm paying a $10,000 line item labeled as
"dealer profit" on top of the usual upcharged dealer addons. I give them credit for being upfront that they're screwing you. But for a total of $20,000+ over MSRP on a Tacoma, nah I'm good and the experience soured me so much I doubt I'll ever buy another Toyota.

@@Dougm1989 It was a 2020 Corolla SE Sedan 6-MT. The earliest ones of this new TNGA platform generation were made in Japan, so I was expecting a lot better (plus it was a 6-speed manual, which should be a bulletproof design by now). Instead it experienced various electrical, starter & transmission/shifter issues & needed towing for repair on multiple occasions back to the dealership(s). It also developed all sorts of rattles/vibrations in the cabin area in the doors, pillars, dash, & roof, & the super white painted plastic bumpers & side sills discolored to a yellowish white & no longer matched the regular super-white painted metal surfaces. I got rid of it finally after 2 years & multiple repairs/fixes. Bought a 2022 Mazda & that has been a trouble-free experience thus far after 15-16 months.

Calm down. You may not like it, and I understand that, but it's capitalism. There is nothing wrong with what they are doing, and that's obvious as people are willing to pay thousands over MSRP. When the market isn't willing, they will quickly adjust. You all did the same thing with your used vehicles to each other and to the dealers.
@@seapanther53 It's called price-gouging in a public crisis. It's actually illegal.
@Jeffrey Kalb 🤦🏻♂️it's not illegal. It's not essential goods like lumber for rebuilding houses that were brought down by a hurricane. These are luxury items that come at many different price points. Further, if it was so illegal lawsuits would've been brought to all dealerships and private sells bc EVERYONE was marking up vehicles, new and used, company and personal/private.

That does apply to TX. The number of new vehicles with temporary plates is Texas is just amazing. And not just cheap SUVs but also full size pick up trucks and SUVs.
@4:50 As someone who was a recently previously looking for a Highlander, the Highlanders that you are seeing are ones that Highlander buyers don't want. All of those were FWD Gas-only XLE's. If you were seeing AWD or Hybrid XLE's, Limiteds, and Platinums sitting, THEN I would say that Highlanders weren't selling.
Noticing the same here where I live, Honda dealers are not being upfront on their pricing posted on website, only depicting msrp pricing, but when you get to the lot they have add-ons and dealer markup close to $5K. I was trying to buy a Sport hybrid for $37.5K OTD, they wanted $44.5K before fees and taxes. So I ended up buying a Mazda CX-30 Carbon Edition below msrp! Toyota dealers here are not able to place orders for RAV4/Cross hybrids.
larry the toyota world seems to be gravitating to mazdas and subarus.
Same problem in the Kansas City metro area. Used costs more than new! New cost more due to additional fees that never existed before! 120 days or more for delivery! I'm not interested in paying too much for something that depreciates soo quickly!
I was in a number of states recently (Texas, Southeastern ones) and Toyota lots had a lot of empty lot space vs. dealers of other brands. To me Toyota is intentionally trying to keep minimal inventories, pushing for ordering of new cars to keep their pricing and corporate profits up. They are screwing themselves and their dealers in the long run and I suspect dealers will start to revolt, perhaps even filing lawsuits over not having enough inventory.
As others have noted, brands like Mazda are gaining sales and market share, especially in the CUV/mild SUV market as have good inventory, offer a Japanese engineered (and with some models Japanese built) vehicles, for fair pricing. I would also note Mazda has upgraded almost all their dealerships, offer good looking vehicles inside and out, they have great engines, real transmissions (not CVT's). Subaru hasn't been as greedy as to pricing, they have taken a longer term view of their customers. As to many brands, they expected a lot of pent up demand post-pandemic but flat incomes, high inflation, high interest rates, failure to make most available vehicles of moderately priced versions is hurting them now.
Fair pricing???
I'm not interested in "upgraded dealerships." That means high overhead.
Well explained, Toyota themselves has almost everything to do with the limited inventory.
Mazda is a great car still built over there. My 06 3 still runs like new 17 years later now. No problems just overzealous maintenance I suppose.
@@litenrg1990you do know Toyota does not have say in how an independent dealer operate. They may be Toyota but it’s up to the owner of that dealership you go to, to add the adjusted price to the vehicles.
Spot on, he one sure thing about Toyota dealers' shenanigans is Toyota has lost many customers for the long term.
In looking at cars online, I have seen a lot of "used" ones where the Carfax shows a sale to another dealership and then a repurchase of the same vehicle. It's not just one, it's dozens. I suspect that they do this for some sort of pricing manipulation. None of the vehicles had more than 1,000 miles.
My theory on that is there maybe be some new car pricing/manufacturers bylaws that is bypassed when it comes to used
My guess is that they are gaming their flooring plans to screw with the finance guys who give them money. Likely an illegal practice.
if they were registered, they are used. can u tell if they were registered?
You dont need to show msrp in used car. You can put anything you want in price sticker. Maybe this is the reason.
Same thing I noticed, following Toyota inventory for about 6-months now.. 2-3 months ago there were about 80 highlander hybrid platinums with 250 miles (of Atlanta). I was hoping for more (so prices would drop to sanity) since the pandemic supply crisis was over, but the 80 decreases to 16.. There is no negotiation on the price when they are so rare (and as in the video; this dragged used car prices up too). I ended up paying 57K (incl tax) after daily searches for new inventory, and couldn’t get the interior color I wanted (since I “needed” a car now). AND YES, you have to pay for forced dealer options if you want the car.
I live in Ontario, Canada where the Toyota Manufacturers are located. There is no new vehicle at any dealerships. It would take more than 2 years to get a RAV4. I was lucky to get my 2023 RAV4 Hybrid in two months because someone canceled their order.
My local Toyota is also a ghost town of inventory.

Great video, I hope the dealers see this, and see the problem. I was trying to buy a new Tacoma since the pandemic, which brought on the Market Adjustment craze. After not being able to find the exact allocation I wanted, or a unit that was priced $5k+ over MSRP, I threw in the towel, keeping my gifted to me 13 year old van limping along. I almost pulled the trigger on the tacoma that had everything I wanted, but hesitated when the OTD price was $66k, I'm so glad I didn't do that, I almost felt bullied into buying it, after that dealer said "good luck, you'll be back", nope never went back. And I have vowed to never give my business to any of the dealers who tried the "Market Adjustment " price increase

Didn’t see any Sequoia’s either. Toyota in my opinion is purposefully constraining supply to keep demand and price values high until they fully understand the magnitude of the recession we are heading into.

Bro cmon like our car hasn't even been paid off yet and it got stolen and we got brand new cars now the RAV 4 and highlander hybrid might add another truck to our fleet probably.
Great content bro .. watching this vid , I realized you’re local to me. I been wondering where you are based out of lol … keep up the great work bud !
Highlander is way more comfortable than a 4Runner - but they’re designed for a different purpose and obv a different customer as well
I like them but I’m not buying a vehicle with 3 rows of seats.
Tacomas in Central FL still have $5K dealer markup on top off inflated junk fees. Hold the line. Do not buy right now.
Great job capturing the situation!👍👍
Ran into this last year. No cars at all. Loacal Subaru dealership. In 2019 they were bending over backwards to deal with me. In 2022 they said" if you think you can find a car or even a price better go ahead. " we had bought 2 vehicles from them and came back to buy a 3rd out of dealership loyalty. But all we got was rudeness and smugness.

I believe the sticker had a typo. "Pinstripe" was supposed to be the "Pinhead" charge.
sw what u gonna do? my answer is to stay private used. the only way to go.
Here is food for thought. The last two years I think all the major brands have been intentionally choking the market of cars. Selling higher end units keeping profits higher by selling less vehicles. rates are going up so folks have stopped buying as much. But I bet anything this is what has happned.
That final price on that CRV is RIDICULOUS!
Costco was promoting buying a car though them at a discount, so I asked for Honda CR-V, they came back and said the closest we have is the RAV4. If Costco is selling it through their discount program, there must be lots available, and discounts available at less than sticker.
dealers pay Costco a fee , the program is more a referral program than discount. And, they more than recover the discount by offering you wholesale or way under for your trade in.

I've had a new Tundra ordered since March 2022, and here it is May 2023 and it still hasn't showed so i gave up and bought a GM AT4 diesel. My buddy ordered a Tundra about 6 weeks before me and he got his last Aug of 2022.
I was at my local Toyota dealer for service today and they had NOTHING on the showroom. They only had a couple new Tundra's on the lot and the ones I looked at the window stickers didn't have any add on's. They were well optioned out but there wasn't one with market adjustment or dealer add on's.
This is because Toyota - unlike the domestic brands - is selling cars.
And it will be sold very soon
Tundras are made here in San Antonio. Quality control pretty high. I would buy one but have no need for a truck.
My sister in law leased a new 4Runner in Dec 20. She got bored with it so my wife and I bought it out from the lease. It’s a SR5 Premium 4X ‘21 with 20K miles. Cost us about 35K. The dealer was pissed as they called her trying to get her in to buy a new one and trade it in. When she said she let us have it they said they would be willing to pops more. Not going to happen.
Here is St. Louis, I know a few people who Ordered New RAV4’s because the Toyota Vehicles coming in on the Delivery Trucks are already Sold.
Still a ton of dealer add-ons here in AZ. They call it 'dealer adjustment', anywhere from $5000 on top of MSRP.
Same story in my state. Barely any new Toyota inventory. They are desperate for really good used cars where I am. I just sold my Toyota to a local Toyota dealer for the same price I paid for it two years ago, and I put 55,000 miles on the odometer. I can’t believe I drove that care for free for two years. LOL, it makes no sense!!
quant nothing economically makes sense.
Same problem up here in Ontario Canada no inventory, I ordered a new Tacoma this past January and was told July 18 😅
Our masters are gonna make that Tacoma undriveable within the next 2-5 years. "Carbon Neutral" either means no cars or no people....perhaps it is both.💉
This is happening in San Diego also. Most new vehicles coming to dealer already have a deposit.
This only happens in the States. In Canada, Toyota dealerships' lot is empty, where American dealerships in Canada aren't selling any vehicle.
To be fair, the markup cost would be worth it because the Rav4 will depreciate less than an HR-V or any American SUV.
I ordered my 2022 Nx350h six months ahead, I paid around USD 50K, including tax, and I can flip the car now for $65K usd because a new buyer would have to wait a year.
Went to 4 different toyota dealerships in the Denver area a couple months ago. They all have this problem. You "can" get a Rav4, you're just going to have to sit down and look at what they have coming in and put a deposit on something not spoken for. They're selling pretty much everything faster than they can get them in. Lone exception here is an Autonation dealer, but going there has it's own set of problems lol.
Yeah big problem for toyota
@@mavfan1 Not enough supply to sell all the product you could is a problem. Not as big of a problem as most automakers have right now of too much supply for the demand, but definitely still a problem.
If a car buyer buys something else, they probably won't buy any of your vehicles in the next at least 3 years and some for a decade or more.
@@mavfan1 it's a problem when they aren't getting enough... If I only bought 5 cars a month and sold them as soon as I got them it would be a big problem for my dealership
You can get a 2020 MDX or RDX with 30-40k miles for $35k vs a new RAV4 XLE for $40k. That’s a $55 Acura vs a $35k Toyota $40k. Both good cars but the Acura is a much nicer car. A well taken care of Toyota, Lexus or Acura with100k miles makes a lot of sense around $20k.
I made a few attempts to get a Toyota Tacoma over the past couple of years and hated how I was treated by Toyota dealerships. They all acted like they were selling some ultra rare exclusive supercar and treated me as if I was a bum off the street. First attempt: I ended up walking into a GMC dealership right after leaving the Toyota dealership, and drove out with a GMC Canyon. When that lease ended, I had the same experience again, drove to Nissan and ended driving off another lot with a loaded '22 Nissan Frontier SV. At this point, Toyota can fail for all I care. Toyota dealership chains are as scummy as the WormWood Used Dealerships of yesteryear.
In Canada it’s the same story. Toyota dealers asking $32 000 for a used 2017 Hybrid Highlander with 190kms! It’s insane!
Ive been looking at Toyota,, The suv are charging a higher APR vs Camry, Plus base models are hard to find
The prices are outrageous. I was lucky and got a brand new TRDORP 4Runner back in 2021 before the crazy price increases. It should last until the new 7th Gen comes out. $46K for a TRD Sport (basically base). That's CRAZY outrageous!
Saw on Reddit someone posted a sticker on a 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro from a dealer in El Cajon with a $15k "market adjustment." Selling price was $72,411.
I had the exact same experience in AZ- there is a dealership that has new 4 runners, rav4, tundras, (no supras)----and they are adding 10-15K on the msrp. The one I bought mine from sells them for msrp- and they have zero. They have used trucks and cars that look new- but they are all used. I talked to a salesperson and told him to call me as soon as what I was looking for showed up. He did, I bought it on the spot- and I think that is the only way to get a toyota short of paying 10-15K above msrp which I absolutely refuse to do. Great videos.
In Arizona, the markup ranges from $6,000 to $20,000 for a new car 😡
Woah really??

I was in the market to buy a rav4. The dealer advertised having them online and when I called they told me “if I had a trade in i could get one in 30 days” since I didn’t they said it would be 9 months
Wonder how fast their tone would change if you told them you're ready to pay cash.
@@boskostoybox cash is the same as financing. Makes no difference.
@@moblack5883 Cash is WORSE for the stealers. They make as much on financing as they do on the darn car! I bought a used Rav 4 a couple of years ago...no trade... I have SUPER credit and could get all the money I wanted back then from Scotia Bank at 1.5%. I have done well over two million with them over the past 10 years years in our crab and lobster business the last few years. The poor sales guy was heartbroken when I wrote a check for the out the door price we eventually arrived at. I am 77 years old and only EVER bought ONE new car, back in 1973..a Buick Century back then. NEVER again. I just will not eat 20% depreciation at the curb of the dealership. Don't ever trade in ever cause you'd end up making that mistake and having to wait for the car for 8 months until that car or truck arrives don't ever make a trade in...
I gave up buying a new Rav4 due to high markup and long waiting time. I eventually purchased a new Mazda CX-5 under MSRP with 0.9% APR finance. Very good deal.
Looked into CR-V and Rav4 for daily driving and just could not stand the exorbitant prices and arrogance. Settled on a Mazda CX-5 Premium with most of the options included like AWD and couldn't be happier.
They want to much is the problem not many have money like they used to have. It's turning into a rich mans world. I bought a new Camry in 2016 loaded for $ 20,000 I only put 15,000 miles on it I'm retired and not going to get ripped off and buy a new one at my age for a ridiculous $ 38,000. No way.
Chevrolet dealers are preparing to sell brand-new 2024 Trax LS automatic for as low as $17,995 newspaper ad sale price (from $21,495 MSRP) by the end of this year. There's hope... Toyota and Honda are not the future anymore.

as a toyota employee i can attest to the shortages they have NOT improved since covid. we have been "sold out" since 2019 if you want a new one be prepared to wait.
One thing that plays into this is that people want hassle free cars and Toyota’s can go for 10’s of thousands of miles with nothing but basic maintenance. Try that with ANY Ford, Chrysler, Chevy.
Toyota doesn’t let you order. Dealers only get allocations at Toyota. That’s what I was told.
I looked around in February for a new Tacoma and found nothing new on the lots in my area of Southern California. All the dealers are doing now is taking orders and you'll get your car/truck in 3 - 4 months. Any yes, they are still doing 'market adjustments' and overpriced dealer add-ons. I reconsidered and went and looked at Mazda and Subaru as I don't really need a PU any more. The local Mazda dealership has plenty of CX-5's on the lot in all trim levels, some discounts, no silly add-on accessories or market adjustment fees, and discounted financing. Subaru has cars at MSRP but no market adjustment pricing added to the costs. I might be leaving Toyota after 35 years of buying only their products.
Try Longo Toyota dealer. 189 Tacomas in-stock.
cross u are not the first i am seeing make that move. mazdas are good. my parents had two. both good. did subaru fix the blow gasket fiasco? go with mazda.
oh yea, before you do that, find out and write to the president of toyota usa. send him a priority mail letter recaping what you said. see what happens.
Never thought I’d buy anything but a Toyota not anymore. My 2019 RAV4 was so loud and too many rattles definitely not built like previous Toyotas I owned and it was built in Japan. Love my new Mazda CX5 carbon edition. So much quieter and the interior is a lot better than the RAV4. It also shifts a lot smoother. Getting 31 miles to the gallon so not bad.
I read an articles that says alot of car companies dont want to produce alot of cars so they dont have to sell them with any discount or rebate. That's why alot of them are taking orders and charges over MSRP
My car was totaled in an accident (was rear ended) was in a rental for a month (took that long to order a new 4 runner). Dealership had NO new vehicles on the lot.
Actually Toyota has stayed pretty much sold out of nearly all of their models in my area. I have a friend who works at a local high volume dealer and they have hundreds of vehicles that are pre-sold upon arrival. Trust me Toyota is doing just fine.
This is what is see in Seattle are, Toyota is selling cars and trucks.
