David Berkowitz - The Son of Sam Full Interview

- Опубликовано: 8 янв 2022
- Berkowitz was arrested on August 10, 1977 and subsequently indicted for eight shootings. He confessed to all of them, and initially claimed to have been obeying the orders of a demon manifested in the form of a dog belonging to his neighbor "Sam". Berkowitz was found mentally competent to stand trial. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, was found guilty, and was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences with possibility of parole after 25 years, in state prison. He subsequently admitted that the dog-and-devil story was a hoax. In the course of further police investigations, Berkowitz was also implicated in many unsolved arsons in the city.
Intense media coverage of the case lent a kind of celebrity status to Berkowitz, which many observers noted that he seemed to enjoy. In response, the New York State Legislature enacted new statutes, known popularly as "Son of Sam laws", designed to keep criminals from financially profiting from the publicity created by their crimes. The statutes have remained law in New York despite various legal challenges, and similar laws have been enacted in several other states.
During the mid-1990s, he amended his confession to claim that he had been a member of a violent Satanic cult that orchestrated the incidents as ritual murder. A few law enforcement authorities have said that his claims might be credible, but he remains the only person ever charged with the shootings. A new investigation of the murders began in 1996, but was suspended indefinitely after inconclusive findings.

I noticed that he still refuses or is incapable of taking responsibility for his crimes. He says “the shootings” and “the person in prison for them” but not KILLINGS, MURDERS, etc
Most narcissistic people are
@@MauiGirl276 I’ve noticed that for a very long time. He talks about “the people I hurt” another thing is all he cares about is being forgiven! On and on about being forgiven through Christ.
But here’s the kicker, I believe he experiences guilt and that’s the reason he can’t directly confront what he did. Remorse? No I haven’t seen remorse. Remorse manifests itself in a physical way like crying, openly admitting to what you did. So I see feelings of guilt and regret but no remorse whatsoever..
the other thing to keep in mind is that he’s a paranoid schizophrenic. Probably medicated but probably still quite mentally ill. Also he’s a psychopath. You’re just not going to get remorse from a psychopath.
Because he is a psychopath and a schizophrenic. He does not feel remorse or empathy for others he isnt capable of it. He believes he was not acting as himself and that a demon was responsible for his actions. as for guilt, he plead guity, not criminally insane. he knew what he had done.
@@michaeltennapel2182 I agree with what you’ve said with one caveat. I think during his crimes and for a long time before that he was delusional. I don’t discount his original explanation for the crimes. That is I think he truly believed in his delusional stories about demons an dogs. It was only after he was medicated after his arrest that he could understand that his delusions weren’t real. And yes, he became a psychopath when he began attacking people. He’s still delusional but it’s a religious delusion at this time.
Ps. This is my opinion. It isn’t medical fact. If you’ve read his letters before he was arrested I think you would see DB was very ill for a long time. I am not excusing his crimes. I’m trying to find an explanation and there doesn’t seem to be one
David: There's so much misinformation out there about my story.
Also, david:
Im not here to talk about my crimes. If you want to know about that just go on the internet.
.....well alrighty. Lol

@dogpup123 well if you are going to interview a serial killer and they murdered people in the 1970's, some people want a backstory. He has accepted his punishment by not attending parole meetings. He seems rational, and no, I don't believe he should be let out. I would rather interview him than Manson or Bundy. If he feels Christ has helped him, only God knows his soul.
Most of the stuff he was speaking about had nothing to do with his crimes

It's so bizarre to watch "Terror on the Streets! The Son of Sam Murderer", but then see him talk in person.
Be honest with children. They don’t deserve to be deceived.
A psychopath is trying to analyse himself and find a reason as to why he became a serial killer.
Exactly.
Really naive to assume he’s a psychopath
Reoccurring trouble with the law prior to 16 is required for a diagnosis of psycopathy
Berkowitz speaking was interesting too
He believes it was demonic possession and talks about what he was into and what was already in his heart and mind before that and that he also knew people who were satanists .
He mentions it in his interviews on the Michael Franceze Channel .
Elsewhere on the tube are interviews with priests who were trained at the Vatican to do exorcisms .
Some of these people exorcized were talking in a bizarre foreign language and when they had linguists listen to the tapes of it , it turned out some of these people were speaking in ancient languages that very few people alive could have known ...
They say this is often the case with demonic possession ... or knowing personal things about the excorcist priest's life that they couldn't have known .
So in his own way he warns about satanism and to stay away from it ... Annette sometimes dark thoughts in your heart and mind will invite demons in .

Scrivo in italiano.

No one should be in prison their entire life, if it's so bad a crime that they should never be released it would be better to execute and if people can't stomach that then they should get a release date.
All criminals turn to the Bible. It's a bunch of bull.
You are very gullible. Get off the Jesus juice, and you'll see things more clearly.
It's sad that in prison he got the help he needed but on the streets he couldn't
All those years in prison and he’s managed to convince himself it really wasn’t his fault. He’s happy to talk and talk and talk about himself and all his so called revelations he’s had about the WHY he is what he is…but he’s not gonna talk about killing innocent people that did nothing to him. He’s not going to talk about the pain and suffering of the family and friends left behind. I can’t listen to him drone on and on about all his suffering.
He has been forgiven by our God Almighty. He does not need you to forgive him. But, it might be in your best interest to. God says you should forgive so He too can forgive you for your sins. There is no degree of sin in God’s eyes. Sin is sin. Period.

Call me crazy but this wasn't an interview but a diatribe of nonsense. One of the worst serial killers ever.
Not even close to one of the worst. He's merely one of the most popular due to the moniker and son of sam law. Berkowitz doesn't come close to guys like samuel little who killed over one hundred women, verified. Or bundy. Or dahmer, or a Ramirez. They killed for pleasure. This guy went around shooting people for a cult. He's changed now. I dont believe any of this is him manipulating the public or lying.
If you want to see one of the absolute worst, look up samuel or sam little. He was absolutely the worst, if not top three. He's just not more well known by people who dont really have an interest other then surface level, with criminal cases and killers. Bundy is another. Btk, hillside strangler, golden state killer, Ramirez, dahmer, hh Holmes. They were all sickos. Not making an excuse for Berkowitz and I dont believe he would make an excuse for himself either. Hes merely just explaining what he think happened to him that lead to killing. But he pales in comparison to the aforementioned.

Adoption absolutely causes trauma in utero then the subsequent relinquishment. The stats on the outcomes of adoptees is astonishing whether a "good"adoption or not. 16% of serial killers are adopted
That's a decent point.
I feel bad for people that are adopted and have to go through the mental anguish if finding out and feeling unwanted, it's actually one of the most upsetting and lonely feeling things that a person might find out, and don't get me wrong I understand they may feel alone in this world but I don't believe anything makes taking another human beings life because of your plight and what a person's been handed in life, killing others isn't in any way going to change anything only makes everything way, way worse as this man has to live with every single day of the rest of his life, it's sad that people end up feeling the way he did but a hell of a thing to live with for sure.
Maybe he just wants us to think he's normal. But you never know what's in someone's head!

Yes I would say he has changed and I can somewhat relate to when he was talking to that lady in a letter she said she forgave him I actually contacted innocent victims myself not asking for forgiveness but I wanted them to know how truly sorry I was for almost taking 3 innocent life's and again not asking forgiveness or not to hate me I wanted them to know how sorry I was and how bad it bothered me for ten years or so and the lady forgave me told me not to worrie about it it's the past but it was hard not to worrie about and there's not a day that doesn't go by I still think about that lady and her two kids but when I was forgave I wasn't expecting that it broke my heart 3 times as bad but it also helped me but really blew my mind when she said everyone was doing fine and she forgave me along time ago
Incredible story...
Serial killers are so boring yet they think their stories are so interesting
Why give him a platform to explain himself.
Why not
He looks well
God bless you, David.
No no no
I feel the same way..God bless David
Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. 🙏

ADHD is hyperactive ADD is the opposite. ADHD/ADD/ODD Oppositional Defiant Disorder. My son had ADHD with ODD as a child. Now he's a grown man. ADHD turned into ADD/ODD
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da life's goes on
u gotta admit if u were on the Parole Board u'd be going "Really?"
From all the true crime iv watched this is an amazing testimony. He is repentant and very intelligent
Narcissists talk in 3rd person
He was a victim of MK Ultra.
What evidence is there of that?
No he’s not.
I don't think that he's making excuses, which he repeated several time. He's trying to explain himself
Any inmate serving the same sentence can sing the same song.
Wait....Thought I heard a dog telling me to kill helpless people.
If David berkowitz is a Christian then i am an astronaut. And I ain't no astronaut.
Then you don't understand God!😂😊
Redemption, Brotha. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. It doesn't excuse his crimes, though.
All you gotta do is put on a space suit and jump on a rocket. And boom. Your an astronaut. Easy peasy.
I love how all these killers "Find god" after they've already committed these terrible things.
All I can say after watching this video is . The Devil is very real. And he hides in plain sight. My condolences to the families affected by David's Evil misdeeds. But , David, Thank you for sharing.
He is using the Christian concept of God and Devil to justify his behavior. Basically it comes down to him saying the devil made me do it. This puts blame on an outside factor and not him himself.
He's not. He never gave up his accomplices and admits to having them.
he lied
He gave the name of two but refused to give up any other names because he said his family's safety would be at risk if he did.
Maury Terry I always believed you!!! Praise God! Thank you Jesus!!
We must remember that we are all God's children, including David Berkowitz.
lol
