In this video I show the steps and procedures Necessary to replace the front wheel hub assembly on a Nissan Titan. Years 2004-2015. The same procedures can be taken for a Nissan Armada as well. The job is pretty simple and requires no special tools or pressed. I hope this video helps you, if it has please like and subscribe. caliper bolts: 37 ftlbs
hub mounting bolts: 145 ftlbs
axle nut: 101 ftlbs

Here are a couple of notes save your self some time spread brake pads from rotor just remove caliper mounting bracket if you hit this thing more then six times get 3 1/2 inch by 1 3/4 inc bolt with nuts knock out 3 studs create a press to remove bearing using 2 3/4 wrenches oh this guy is pretty good done this job in a hr and a half
Nice simple job! Having all the right tools is key! I’ve got them all so I will be doing this myself and saving the money! I do most of my own work and for some reason suspension and work like this I used to shy away from but why! I have a big jack, pop off the tire and begin unbolting! Thx.

You made this look very simple. I just did this on my 2015 Titan. It had the original hubs on it from 8 years ago. The rust was fused to the spindle and would not come off. I tried a slide hammer, 4lb sledge and beat the crap out of it for hours. Finally we got PB Blaster and sprayed it all around the hub assembly. Then we knocked the studs out and torqued a couple of bolts into the control arm to rip the hub off. After hours of work it finally came loose. Lesson learned. If you live in a cold weather state and you have to deal with rust it makes jobs like this more difficult. Thanks for the video.

I just wanted to thank you. First time doing this and your video was an excellent step by step guide.
Sometimes the wheel hub will be extremely hard to get out of the knuckle. If so, put the three 21MM bolts holding the hub most of the way back in and give them a few hard hits with a 5lb small sledge hammer. Try to hit them evenly and be sure to back them out as you make progress. Worst case scenario, you damage the bolt heads or ruin the threads but they can easily be replaced. This was the easiest method for me and it didn’t damage the bolts.

My hub assembly was a pain to remove
Just did this after watching your video and what a pain in the ass. You can totally do it in your driveway, but it won’t be fun. Also, I used way more tools than that, most notably, I giant ass pry bar. Thanks for the video though.

Nothing to high, Just the 4" RC lift, but i a PRG 1.5 Body lift too. the 2 together should be a nice look. Im adding Headers, bpipes, and cat back at the same time too.
If you don't have a torque wrench what would happen if you just tighten them down as hard as you could? By the way very awesome video thanks

Just gonna put this out there don't remove your caliper off your caliper mounting bracket is just an exercise depth that you don't have to take leave it all is one and just remove the mounting bracket bolts And take it all off as one piece it will save you a lot of time

You can remove the caliper bracket and caliper and brakes pads as a whole assembly unless you are replacing the brake pads.

My cordless impacts are a bit weak for the job, and I don’t have a large enough air compressor for my pneumatic. Think I’ll use a breaker and hammer the hub to maybe shock the bolts loose.
Don't forget to put the transmission in 4wd otherwise the axle will just spin. Grrrrr

So the rotor should just come off after the caliper bracket is removed right? 2wd
The three bolts holding the hub bearing are extremely tight setting in the control arm and next to the cv joint.
My socket wouldn't sit flush.
I noticed you ground down some of your impact sockets. Did that help the socket sit better on the bolt head?
With extremely tight quarters it has been difficult to get the proper torque on this bolts.

Those sockets have been ground down to do other jobs. For instance removing rotors on a Chevy Colorado requires a thin wall 17 mm socket. Which is the same socket you see. Did you try turning the wheel to gain further access to those bolts? Also a long half-inch ratchet or breaker bar really helps putting more torque on the bolts. Turning the wheel helps a lot
The only "easy" in this video as that the hub came off with a couple of taps.
Another question and I mean this with all sincerety. What in the hell did you say the torque was on the 32mm nut? Lol IDK if it's a glitch or something but I played it 10 times and couldn't hear it. I'm putting it back on right now. Thanks.
oh sorry about that torque spec is 101 ft lbs. i shoot all the videos with my iphone and its not the greatest, saving for a better camera haha. all torque specs are in the description as well. thanks!
I'm having a loud squeal anytime I have a slight turn to the left. And I mean slight. Just barely touching the steering wheel to the left. I do have slight front end damage and the driver side tire wears towards the engine heavily now. But my abs and vds lights are on in the dash. Does that sound like a wheel bearing/hub or something else?

Aaron thanks for the video. halfway done installing a new hub & bearing but ran into some trouble. When I went to remove the tie rod bolt...backed it out like you showed so nut and bolt were flush and then banged it out. However, the nut is still on and if I turn it the hole bolt just turns. Is that normal? Can't tighten nor loosen the tie rod bolt now. BTW, I ended up getting the hub bolts out with a swivel socket and breaker bar.
Hmm thinking the bolt is busted off inside tie rod.
yes this is normal, as tie rods wear. they become "loose" in their socket. to remove the nut off the bolt, take your jack and apply a little pressure under the tie rod directly underneath the joint. this will slightly press the tie rod back into the spindle which should allow you to remove the nut which is stuck. if you dont have a jack to do this, use a large hammer and hammer the underside of the tie rod to press it back in, good luck!
It’s not a bolt. It’s made to turn and swivel around. You need to reprice it into the spindle so you can remove the nut
@@AaronHinesAuto tried using the jack but couldn't get it. Then used a c-clamp and was able to get enough pressure (tie rod back into spindle enough) to prevent bolt from spinning and get the stuck nut off. Thanks for the replies and posting video.
Would a couple of 3 ton stand be considered "appropriately rated" lol cause it's all I got. Also, are the new hubs pressed on or just bolted back on?

Aaron my 07 titan front driver side wheel makes a screeching noise when braking also when not, just turning the wheel to the left driving down the road. I took it off to see if it was the brakes they have about half life also caliper seemed in good condition. Does this sound like it could be my hub?? Thanks Homie for any advice

“Clunking” noise when driving. If you lift the vehicle off the ground and can shake the wheel it’s a good indication that the bearings are shot

What about if you have no axel in the front how do you remove the hub??

Aaron what’s your trick to removing the axel nut? I haven an 04 and impact gun won’t budge it and breaker bar spins the axel along with it. Thanks!
You have a couple options. If you have access to a map or acetylene torch you can heat the net up and it will come off with the impact gun. Try increasing your air pressure to give the impact gun more strength. If you’re forced to go with the breaker bar then put the wheel back on take the center cap out and put the vehicle back on the ground then use the break bar.
Thanks Aaron, it took a soaking in PB blaster and came off with the breaker bar with crow bar wedged in the lug bolts to keep opposite pressure. But I’ll keep note of the tip when I try the other side. Keep up the great work!!
Ok a wheel drive IS different. With no axle the removal of the hub is also different. There is what looks like to be a backing plate that holds it in from sliding out. I have no idea on how to do that since EVERYONE on RUclips seems to only showing videos on 4 wheel drives not 2 wheel drive.
2wd is the exact same procedure except the axle through the hub. No backing plate holding the axle in. Just a nut on the axle.
@@AaronHinesAuto I ended up removing two wheel studs opposite from each other. Then took two 1/2" x 6" hex bolt and nuts and placed them in as if to tighten them against the colar. Took me literally 3 minutes with no at all effort for them to come out.

Aaron, something is bothering me with my 2010 armada. When I replaced the rear wheel bearings, i noticed that each half-shaft is different. one of them has a nut and a cotter pin slot, while the other one has a locking nut and no cotter pin slot. Is this normal? I don't remember having them serviced so I'm sure they're OEM.
Oem hubs use a cotter pin and a 32mm but. From my experience. The other side must be an aftermarket axle? That’s my guess
@@AaronHinesAuto huh..that's odd. Yes, one uses a 32mm nut while the other uses a 35mm. Just scary as I'm used to cotter pins. Well I torqued to 150ft just in casr and threadlocked it. Thanks for the video.

No need to grease the bearings. The bearings are sealed
Can wheel adapter or spacer damage the wheel bearing ???
Wheel adapters can shorten the life of your wheel bearings.( Specially OEM ones as they are barely lubed inside) also bigger rims with even bigger tires (ALL TERRAIN) Reduce the life SIGNIFICANTLY
Do you have to torque them to the specifications or is hand tightening good enough?
I would torque them to the proper spec. If possible. Most Oreilly and Napa stores will loan you a torque wrench. If your in a bind and can’t get to a torque wrench. Good and tight will pass for the time being. Good luck!

Yes that is normal. I am assuming you’re not using an impact for the nut. You may have to put the tire back on and lower the vehicle and use the breaker bar to loosen the nut off of the axle

What were the symptoms ...
Sounded like the vehicle had oversize knobby tires. Excessive road noise and even in extreme cases ABS lights will come on due to ABS sensor fault

Thanks... mine also wobbles when making a left turn and wobbles when accelerating.. there’s no noise though , no abs light, I’m still trying to pin point the cause. Bought all brand new tires check the lower control arm and it’s good... still scratching my head
Check the rack and Pinion mounts. With the truck off, have somebody turn the wheel a few inches in each direction quickly. If you hear A noise or see movement in the rack and pinion bushings, they are bad. I have never seen a bad hub create hobby tires without making a whole lot of noise!!

How many miles did you have on the truck before you replaced the bearings?
on most trucks its around 180,000. with stock tires and rims. however i have seen lifted trucks with offset rims have bad hubs at 100k
Mine is a lot harder to get out than that ... Lol
Ya I’ve done some that come right out with no problems. And some that take forever to come loose. 07+ seem to be a little more difficult.
