Xbox recently pushed out an update that addressed the mic monitoring issue and it sounds better , however the mic monitoring with TB is second to none in my opinion.
I agree with all your reasons as to why the turtle beach mic is better, but I gotta say the Xbox one sounds better! I also think the turtle beach feels more comfortable and I like flipping up the mic to mute as well.
Turtle beach is more comfortable. The ear cups are very breathable. The xbox headset, my ears get sweaty. Not too much but also towards the bottom of my ears, they start to hurt. The Turtle beach headset, no sweat, no pain. Very very comfortable.
Those turtle beach’s are going to break on you at the plastic where it meets the headband.. that’s why it’s starting to squeak as he said. I have had 3 sets of the 700 stealth gen 2. Each and every one breaks in the same area. You will find others that have had the same issue online. Avoid the turtle beach!
I had the Xbox headset and it broke after 2 months, the left audio control just stopped working. Could not return it or get a replacement. Bought the stealth 600 and it snapped after 4 months, contacted turtle beach and got a replacement within a week
this video should have 50.000 views.... great content and production!, i really want a failure proof wireless headset for my Xbox... seems like the Xbox Wireless headset will be the one...
Thanks for the comment and support! I really like the Xbox Wireless headset. I think for the price it’s great. Just wish the Mic-Monitoring was better!!
I have turtle beach stealth 600 gen 3 and Xbox wireless headset. Turtle beach is more full out the gate. Xbox headset has monster bass. With eq you can finely tune turtle beach ones a bit more. The Xbox one will def need tuning.
Glad i found this because i wasn't sure on which to pick on these 2 but after you said that you use the xbox headset for single player and movies then my mind was made up since i dont talk on a mic at all anyway unless im on my pc specifically.
Thanks for the video! How did you record those microphone tests? If they were over Bluetooth, then they're probably not a good comparison because Bluetooth compresses the audio and reduces the quality (especially mic/recording quality, but not playback as much) much more than the 2.4 GHz wireless connection would. I think the only way you could get an accurate comparison would be to record over 2.4 GHz.
Thanks for the comment! We recorded over Bluetooth since that's how they both connect to the console. That being said, I can understand your concern. The microphone test clip was added to give people an example. Both headsets only use 2.4 GHz unfortunately.
Bummer. (I think you meant "computer" in your second sentence.) You could get the Xbox Wireless adapter for PC in order to connect using the faster and higher quality 2.4 GHz wireless the headsets use to connect to Xbox. That would be a more true demonstration of mic quality _for Xbox use_.
Just ordered the Xbox headset because my husband and I both have Stealth 700 Gen 2s and there have just been non stop issues with both of them. Totally unreliable and support hasn’t been helpful either. We’ve kept them updated and have factory restored them multiple times and issues persist. My audio cuts out constantly, I have a weird digital distortion randomly with loud sound effect, and even with voice chat sometimes, any time i join party chat, my party can hear me, but they stay muted unless I scroll the chat mixer on the headset up and down a bunch of times, and if I’m connected to Bluetooth, the headset doesn’t auto turn off with my Xbox. My husband has similar issues, but not as consistently. Maybe its because we preordered them and got an early batch that were just bad? Finally caved and gave up on them. Can’t wait til the new Xbox ones get here! Thanks for the review! It was very helpful!
Sorry to hear about your issues! Hope the new Xbox headset solves them. I would love to know if it doesn't, feel free to let me know if the Xbox headset solves your issue :)
Technically every headset has mic monitoring in a xbox live party chat. There's a slider the the live party, but I dont know if it only works with aux headphones to the controller. Just thought I would point that, if it's any help...
@@TweitenTech create a party, go down to options. It should be the last one called Audio settings. You should have three sliders, Headset volume, Headset chat mixer, and lastly Mic monitoring. It will also show if you are running Dobly Atmos at the bottom I believe. Ive been using my AKG headphones that came with my Galaxy S8. I never bought the Xbox stereo headset adapter, so I basically had to use that for everything in the xbox live party chat. Also once you dial it in, it saves it for out of the live party chat. So I only use the AKG for mic volume. So if I cross play with anyone like on COD, I could leave the Xbox live party and the game volume won't go through. I have a Sonos system, so one ear mic chat and the other to hear my speakers.
They both sound relatively the same, with the Turtle Beach just have a slight tinny sound. Wouldn't shock me if they where the exact same mics, with the software/hardware effecting it just slightly. I only say that because with the new Macbooks they have the same cams as last gen. But the new M1 chips makes then preform better.

The biggest issue I have with the Xbox Wireless Headset is the auto mute doesn’t seem to work even though I have it on high my friends can literally hear every button I push when we game. Microsoft needs to roll out an update for it to fix this.
I found it strange that you said that the TB doesnt work with a PC. It comes with a USB-A dongle that allows users to use the headset with your pc. I use this in my house as it is too bulky to wear outside or on public transit. The cooling gel headset is great for work as you can wear them for a long time. The flip up mic is also a great touch for an easy and obvious mute during conference calls.
The low volume and poor mic monitoring is pushing me away from the Xbox headset, and also I’ve heard that the 700 feels super comfortable and doesn’t get as hot because of the ear cushion technology. But the poor quality of the turtle beach app is the only thing that is holding back the 700s in my opinion, as apparently it is seriously bad at connecting to the headsets and the app is where you configure all the settings
The Xbox headset has NOT gotten any better in terms of its mic-monitoring. It's incredibly annoying actually. The Stealth 700 is definitely comfortable, but the Turtle Beach app continues to have issues. It's a difficult decision. I mainly use my Turtle Beach headset, but for $100. The Xbox headset is hard to beat when doing an overall comparison.
Dude I’ve been using the Xbox headset for at least 9 months hoping for a significant mic monitoring update. While there have been 2 so far, it’s still bad. I don’t think there will be a fix for it. So I’m going to switch to TB later this month
@@BboyWill1 I have the turtle beach 700s and they are worth it, make sure you update your headset and you can control nearly everything you need to on the app. I use it daily for cod and other games.
I smashed my Stealth Turtle beaches into the ground after a fantastic aggravating gaming session and they still work so here is my vote for turtle beaches. If you have the TB's then you'll appreciate a physical mute button on the xbox headset, and also maybe the comfort of the headband. It does seem like I dont have to babysit the battery life of the turtle beaches, I just wish they were slightly more comfortable on the very top of my head where my hair is. SEPARATE volume switches for xbox party and game volume is so nice on turtle beach when your party wont shut up during tense moments in rainbow six siege for example.
As far as overall sound quality, the turtle beach headphones are miles ahead. The Xbox phones are muddy and hard to hear when it comes to bright and specific sounds while gaming, foot steps, etc. Also the Xbox headphones are sized for smaller/kids heads. Coming from someone who’s been using headphones as an audio engineer for 20 years, pick turtle beach over Xbox. There are way better phones than turtle beach but at a big price jump.
Another thing about the turtle beach is they are buggy, and they are inconvenient if you don't have a PC because you cannot update them through the app
Are these the Turtle Beach 700 Max? Because I've got the max and they are 40 hour battery not 20+ also they work with Xbox, PC, PS5 and switch. Also can use Bluetooth and listen to the Xbox at the same time. Max is worth the extra especially if you've got a PS5 and Xbox or PC just plug and play
They say they have, but it’s still a night and day difference between the MS Wireless Headset and my Stealth 700 Gen 2 Turtle Beach. The mic monitoring just isn’t good on the Microsoft one 😞
Would you recommend this or xbox wireless headset? (Both in sound and microphone) Because I heard a friend in a group with xbox wireless headset and it has a horrible microphone
Hey I was thinking about getting the turtle beach st 700 Max is there any other headset that you'll think we'll be better than that cause I've seen in your other video you was talking about connection dropping with the turtle Beach headset

Literally every pair of the wireless turtle beach headphones that I owned have broke. Plus the Xbox headphones are cheaper ! I wish I knew about them before.

I just bought both and i returned the turtle beach because of the update hassle especially i don't have any mac computers, otherwise I'm loving my xbox wirless headset so far 😌
The latency use to not be an issue on the Turtle Beach one, but has started to becoming a little annoying. I’m thinking about making a follow up video on it. Overall, I still use the Tuttle Beach Headset everyday. Xbox headset is great with latency.
It’s better than the turtle beach in my opinion. But I mostly use the turtle beach still. I’d encourage you to buy the Xbox wireless headset, save the receipt, and if you have issues than return it. I’ve done this with headsets before because I’m very picky when it comes to my gaming headset. 😁
I hear so much more detail in Xbox headset vs 700 gen 2. Also on PC I constantly loose connection on 700 gen 2. Not an issue since I got Xbox wireless headset! Build quality on turtle beach is terrible. I had one side broken after a year of infrequent use.
I have both. For battery life, you should really be comparing the 700 Gen 1. The Gen 2 is not a proper comparison. The Turtle Beaches are by far the best, besides weight and dials on the side. The 700 beats it in about the rest of about 10 categories. It's not close. [Audio, cushion, doesn't get hot with open ear, maneuverability abd comfort, AUDIO QUALITY, build quality, microphone, chat clarity and folding microphone. Like I said, besides weight and dials. The Turtle Beach was more expensive and it starts always at full volume with a 3 second delay to change it and the dials suck with a pro and con to the power button being tough to find and accidentally hit. The Turtle Beach was garbage with the app at first, now it is fine. The look of the Turtle Beach is better, as well. It is less childish and Xbox only look. -Who uses high mic monitoring...get the Gen 2 and be done with it. It's not close.
What did you think of using Turtle Beach it in FPS? Can you hear the steps well? Or is it really hard to hear when there's a lot going on, as stated in the video?
Just went and picked up a set of these. Love em already. Comfort 👍🏻, Sound 👍🏻, Ease of set up👍🏻, Price $130.00 CAD👍🏻. Thanks again for the honest review.
I've had both ended up returning the turtle beach back and kept the xbox head set because the beach head set lacked bass and didn't seem as on point with sound also the price
wtf the stealth 700 been had dolby atmos support day one and it came out even before the new xbox consoles came out. it even states it on the box. with dolby atmos enabled on both headsets… it’s night and day. the xbox headset can’t compare to the stealth 700 when it comes to sound quality and fidelity. it just don’t. it’s like comparing a surround speaker set up to a sound bar. the $50 up charge alone on the stealth 700 is a steal if sound quality is a priority. you capping hard for the xbox headset on this one bruh.
What that is not telling you that is not working and constantly disconnecting from series X, with all firmware upgrades It is the worst electronic device I ever bought!!
Seriously, you've just said Microsoft Wireless Headset sounds better? Sound is just day and night difference in favor of Turtle Beaches. Poor quality 40mm drivers in Xbox Headset can't match 50mm TB drivers. And please don't compare Xbox with Atmos enabled vs TB without it. It doesn't make sense at all...
@@lpccali Xbox drivers are of terrible quality and terribly tuned. They are bass heavy though, everything rumbles around like crazy. This impresses many users who judge the quality of headphones by the amount of bass they produce. Everybody has different taste.
You forgot one thing~ 700 gen7, but it provides low-latency 2.4G wireless, and XBOX headsets only have pure Bluetooth technology~ This is a big problem when playing FPS games!!
Not true, the Xbox headset does not use Bluetooth, it uses Xbox wireless device pairing, but also has Bluetooth so you can use it in your phone and windows, like Xbox controllers

It’s better than the turtle beach in my opinion. But I mostly use the turtle beach still. I’d encourage you to buy the Xbox wireless headset, save the receipt, and if you have issues than return it. I’ve done this with headsets before because I’m very picky when it comes to my gaming headset. 😁
What's the distance on them
I usually travel to the kitchen mid game some times.
Pretty good, I don’t know an exact number. I can walk all the way downstairs (to a different floor) with mine on and they are still connected.
I can go outside about a house away and still talk with the Xbox wireless.
8 months later have they fixed mic monitoring?
I don’t think it’s ever going to get better/get “fixed”. It’s still a great headset for the price, but the mic monitoring is not very effective 😞
@@TweitenTech thanks man
I got the Xbox series x head set and where the mute button is it’s cracked
I would try exchanging it for a new one! Or if you bought it online, contact the company bought it from 😁
The Turtle beach is also capable of dolby atmos isn't it?
Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2's are capable of windows sonic, dolby atmos and DTS Headphone X.
I couldnt get my stealth 700s to connect to my xbox but i did try the xbox headset and they were trash. They broke on me after some months of use too
What is mic monitoring 😢?
Good review, but Dolby Atmos for headphones works on every headset, including the Turtle Beach. It's totally headset agnostic.
That's what I thought
I hear so much more detail in Xbox headset vs 700 gen 2. Also on PC I constantly loose connection on 700 gen 2. Not an issue since I got Xbox wireless headset!
Build quality on turtle beach is terrible. I had one side broken after a year of infrequent use.
How are people gonna say the Xbox headset is better when the turtle is in a completely different price range.
Both are $99
@@DougDimmaDab actually the 700 is 150, he says it in the video.
@@palmerpiper1797 you’re absolutely right looked like 600 series to me which is what should’ve been compared
@@DougDimmaDab yeah, i don’t know why he didn’t do the 600.
@Karen shut up Karen
Steel series arctic 1 wireless vs these?
Maybe the arctic 7-9 might be comparable but not the 1’s.
Comeing form a Logitech g pro wired I’m scared of the battery life but want good audio. Do you know if there will be much of a difference?
I'm not sure!! Haven't used that headset.
i have the turtle beaches and they last a good two days playing non stop all day for me, charging is crazy fast when hooked up to the xbox usb
Yeah I’ve been really impressed with the battery life!
turtle beach has dolby atmos too in xbox
I have both I find the turtle beach way better it's more comfortable and just feels nicer
What did you think of using Turtle Beach it in FPS? Can you hear the steps well? Or is it really hard to hear when there's a lot going on, as stated in the video?
Excellent and honest comparison. Thank you👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Just went and picked up a set of these. Love em already. Comfort 👍🏻, Sound 👍🏻, Ease of set up👍🏻, Price $130.00 CAD👍🏻. Thanks again for the honest review.
Glad you like it! Thanks for the comment 😁
Have Microsoft ever fix that Mike monitoring???
Not really, unfortunately. Turtle Beach is still king when it comes to mic-monitoring.
Have they fixed mic monitoring???
No! It's very frustrating!! I might have to do another video talking more about it.
Yes finaly a comparison i want, great one😀🇳🇴
Going to buy xbox headset👍
Glad you liked it!
Thanks! :)
No problem!
I mean I can’t complain on the Xbox headset i got it for $40 at a Pawn shop
$40 is hard to beat!
I think turtle beach has the better Mic quality
Yeah it’s a close one!!
I’d really love to see you do pc Vids
One day! PC GPU’s are just so expensive right now.
Just ordered the turtle beaches 🤙
Nice! Hope you like them. Thanks for the comment 😁
The turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2 broke on me after 1 year and 2 months of normal use. The plastic that connects the earphone and metal band broke.
Cual es mejor?
You’ll have to watch the whole video! 😊 😁
What that is not telling you that is not working and constantly disconnecting from series X, with all firmware upgrades It is the worst electronic device I ever bought!!
I haven't experienced none of that.
Dude what are you talking about? Never once experienced any of that.
Makes me question his entire review
Atleast the Xbox Official Headsets don’t break as easily as as the TB Stealth 700 G2
Ive just got the xbox ones and even after adjusting eq still sound kinda like im underwater. My super old xo7 turtle beaches still sound better
I’ve tried both and the Xbox does sound better. Way better, I don’t know wth you were listening too.
@@lpccali Xbox drivers are of terrible quality and terribly tuned. They are bass heavy though, everything rumbles around like crazy. This impresses many users who judge the quality of headphones by the amount of bass they produce. Everybody has different taste.
Thank you sir
No problem, thanks for the comment
You forgot one thing~ 700 gen7, but it provides low-latency 2.4G wireless, and XBOX headsets only have pure Bluetooth technology~ This is a big problem when playing FPS games!!
Good point!!
Not true, the Xbox headset does not use Bluetooth, it uses Xbox wireless device pairing, but also has Bluetooth so you can use it in your phone and windows, like Xbox controllers
You can have dolby atmos for any headset
700 stealth is definitely better overall . Regardless The Xbox headset is still good
The turtle beach has so many problems
MS win but the Synthetic leather not good
Ok so the turtle beach "insert feature" is better but i gotta give this round to the Xbox headset
They don’t make quality headsets anymore
Oh wait, nah he never explains it...

HAHAH THE SQEAK I never noticed it until u mentioned it 😐
Xbox headset sounds better
Turtle much better
The turtle beach will die within 6 months!
Been using mine for almost 3 years now! Have you had issues with yours?
