This is after you are in a committed relationship. It would be helpful to learn how to help a relationship transition from the earlier stages in dating to a more committed place where these dynamics and commitment can play out
Hi! I think for every person some work in attachment theory is necessary whether it's high school age or mid-age, everyone needs a course and practice leveling up their skill sets. The communication or the self-esteem.
I have a friend who has been actively morning his wife’s passing for over two years. He visits her grave daily. According to him, they had the perfect marriage. I understand he cheated on her more than twice during their marriage. Good communication will never change “I wonder what I’m missing?” It’s a good start, but I doubt it’ll be a magical cure.
Thais, I had no idea what a healthy relationship was until I started listening to PDS. I said to someone once when I was in a very codependent relationship and not knowing it, 'Isn't this what real love is supposed to look like?' If only I had known... Thank you!
Omg! This is such a wonderful and important video. So many of us never saw a healthy relationship. For those of us who have been working towards this, it's a great indicator for where we're at. This kind of information is incredibly valuable. Thank you! ❤
I am glad you brought out these important aspects of a secure person and relationship as knowing this, and practicing it, are quite a different game! I think it's easier for FAs to find their balance to reach a secure style as they have experienced both their anxious and avoidant sides. But it's quite a task to get an AP or DA come around to a similar understanding of finding a balance as they have to shift to an altogether different worldview of life.
Hi Thais. Hope you have an outstanding day. My dad passed when I was 9. My mom was overwhelmed raising my 3 brothers my sister and myself. I have no idea how I am so vulnerable in relationships. I love being vulnerable and having my wife vulnerable. She is a FA but I’ve always loved to be vulnerable and spend as much time together as the other wants.
I share my true self with my partner and cannot imagine having a partnership where I felt I couldn't. That would be terribly unfullfilling. That said, I have over-the-top frustration and often it seems like it's about my partner, but I understand it's in general so I find other outlets to express it. Why hurt her with it? I wouldn't want her to change bc my frustrations change daily. It's in me, not about her.
I yearn to be secure in all areas. I'm way behind though. Perhaps learning in this lifetime will mean in some future life or even a parallel universe, I may arrive securely. That's enough spark of hope for me to continue learning and practicing, even when it's scary.

If everyone did the work to become securely attached, divorce rates would absolutely plummet and everyone would have thriving healthy relationships
❤❤❤agreed!
Good point. I wonder now since this information is more readily available and talked about if statistics might change in the future.

Exactly. This is what's missing!

Thanks for this info. It's so hard to believe that differences can actually help with connection after narcissistic abuse.

I’m happy for you. You are probably anxiously leaning. Or secure. This makes sense. This is a strength of the secure and anxious attachment styles
Love this video! All points are important for a healthy relationship!
I’m in love with the painting behind you, do you know who’s the artist?

2:29 What does too similar mean in this context? Similar in what ways?
The healthiest relationship resembles the one I have with my dog. Woof
