I just wanted to add a quick update that if you feel like the LifeStraw Pitcher is too small, drink a ton of water, or just hate constantly it filling up (we have all of these problems)… LifeStraw did release a new dispenser that it supposed to hold 18-cups. We haven't tried it yet, but if anyone is brave enough here's the link: lifestraw.com/collections/frontpage/products/lifestraw-home-dispenser?variant=39329767522415 Let us know what you think of it (when it comes back in stock)!
Thank you! I threw away my directions, thinking I would remember! Your video saved me. It is WAY better than the videos the Lifestraw company made. Congrats!
I thought my pitcher was broken too! Just got it today. I came on RUclips to see if anyone else had similar issues. From what I understand it gets better in time? I really hope so!!!
Just got my glass 7 cup filter today. The 2 throw away rinses took a long time over half an hour. It sped up after the 3rd batch. To do the full 7 cups it still takes me about 10 minutes because by the 3rd cup I have to slowly pour it in. I’m currently on my 4th batch of water. So, hopefully this improves. Otherwise the taste of the water is good. I feel the slower filtration time is a trade off for better filtration.
Mine is doing the same thing. I’m currently waiting for the first batch and went to RUclips because I wasn’t sure if mine was broken. It is moving so slow
Are you supposed to remove the membrane during set up…..I couldn’t get it out…..I think I’m going to like it….but better instructions and directions are needed from Lifestraw
Haha yeah it's a bit ridiculous and now they are selling a home dispenser that is 18 cups so I can't even imagine how long it takes to fill that one up. However, it definitely doesn't take nearly as long to fill up now. As long as you stand and watch it, it probably fills all the way to the top in 30 minutes…but you have to constantly fill it...
Like is a hilarious example of good visual design vs terrible practical design. It looks great, very stylish - but the reality of using it is simply maddening. Even though the filling does speed up as you use it more, the main problem gets filtered on the way and not out. Now understand the chamber you pour the water in is about 4-5 times smaller than your main jug. So you have to fill and wait, fill and wait, fill and wait, fill and wait and maybe fill and wait again. Real fun. Next issue is the size - the 10 cup (which you will want or you will just have to keep filling endlessly, especially if you are using it for bottles), is so tall you can't just put it under your faucet because it's highly unlikely your sink is 10+ inches deep (go check, is it?) So you have to literally hold it on an angle as you fill, and fill and fill..... It's just an awful practical design - bought and sending it right back.
So do you fill it once and wait for all the water to filter through or do you have a max capacity and then have to fill it some more and wait for the 10 cups?
@@followingthefosters966 It's not even a twist for it You just push it off What worked for me was boiling water Placing it on it Then I randomly got a screwdriver and push it off

It takes forever to fill. But the taste is amazing.

@@angeliarose2744 i’ve had mine for a month now and filtration has sped up.

I believe you are
According to the Lifestraw people, you should fill only to the bottom of the handle. Get a lidded glass carafe to pour clean water into.
Thank you for the useful video, I have a thumbs up :)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the thumbs up!!
I came to see if mine should take as long as it is, and i received the best-placed Community reference of all time 🤙🏼
You kind of look like Dr.Dray the dermatologist
This hidden gem has got to be the greatest comment of all time
Damn 2 hours to filter?? My family would be dead from dehydration by then!

What do you mean 2 hours? Only takes a about 3 - 5 minutes for each batch to filter all the way through. And each batch is about 2 cups
@@evanhughes1510 I'm filling my pitcher for the first time it is taking forever
Be honest. We’re you given the product for free?

My instruction said to use 1/4 bleach with 2.5 cups of water to clean the main filter. That doesn’t seem right
It fills up so slow but I guess that’s the price you pay for good water
That's exactly how we feel, it's worth it to get water that you know is safe to drink!
That Jeffree star box in the back tho
Haha good eye! We didn't even notice!
Lifestraw seems to be a joke - 2 hours for water to drink. Zerowater takes less time and removes more stuff
On step 5, it says to discard water again but you just went straight to filtering your batch of water?
I didn't show it because it seemed a bit unnecessary
May I ask what water filters do you use for your sinks and showers?
How often do you change the filter
The membrane microfilter lasts 264 gallons (1 year). The activated carbon + ion exchange filter lasts 40 gallons (2 months).
@@followingthefosters966 because of you I bought i dont have the steps how to clean it
Do you have the step the paper can you post it
So do you fill it once and wait for all the water to filter through or do you have a max capacity and then have to fill it some more and wait for the 10 cups?
You have to fill it up multiple times unfortunately in order to get the 10 cups
The filter was not setup right, it takes about a min to filter 5 cups.
Not for me
I set up the filter right and it's taking the same amount of time as hers
2hrs?!!!
I really wanted this filter but 2 hours
It takes a lot less time now!! It probably takes like 30 minutes if you watch it and constantly refill it
Funny how you managed to fast forward through the only part that I needed :/
Oh no!! I'm so sorry!
I am having the most difficult time removing the filter housing cap
I have that problem too! It takes so much elbow grease to get off and it can be really annoying

You just push it off
What worked for me was boiling water
Placing it on it

@@chuchojuarez95 Thank you for the tip! I'll try that next time!
How do you remove the membrane microfilmed? Or do you not?
So did I 😆
Remove the filter at the bottom so hard
I agree!
That’s redonkeyless. Two hours to fill and two filters
Yeah it was pretty crazy! It definitely does take a little less time now! You just have to stand and watch it...🙃
Doesn’t take two hours for me
