They didn't say it in the video, but Jeff Oppenheim (the guy with the El Camino that caught fire) won the Spirit of Drag Week Award for bringing it back to life and making a final pass. Such a class event put on by great people, I can't wait to see what happens this year!

Especially to be driving 1000+ miles in a sub-10sec ride. I'd wager 99 of 100 people in the RUclips comment section would crap themselves if they took a ride in an 11sec car.
Crap themselves how? You mean from how incredibly uncomfortable racing seats are, all sound deading removed, no A/C in Sept? Have you sat in a van capable of 150 db? Either one are rough on the senses, I don't like race cars on the street too much noise.

do you know how many cars there were in total? With so many class winners I wonder how many of them were sole starter in that class.
Probably very few. The event is limited 350 entrants, and filled up within an hour of opening online. On the final day 290 (as stated) were present. So sole starter status is pretty hard to get, and would make for crappy racing/viewing/competition. Hot Rod has been doing this for a while and they realize that keeping the rules loose means a lot of cars and combinations can fit into the varied classes to keep in interesting (i.e.: no diesel class, pick-truck class, etc.).

Hats off to real street and the elco for seeing it to the Finnish.
I downloaded an app to my Android phone for MPH just in case I don't have a speedometer. The Ohio State Patrol is not very lenient on speed, keep that in mind if you travel here from another State. Norwalk was a great show where the participants were eager to tell you about their car. Planning on next years event.

Wow Burke was the last qualifier for Street Eliminator Top 32 with a 11.19 average for the week and won the event! Lesson to the rest of those in that class, go bracket racing. I am willing to bet Burke is a regular at his local track.
i believe when they started it was over 350 cars in total but on the last day i think it was around 290 so overall it was great i think they said about 60 cars dropped out

That's not true, how do you explain the roughly 80 cars that didn't finish some of them with four digit power numbers? Without a full analyst we won't know exactly what took place but it ran reliably for 700+ miles and at least 2-3 passes a day before something happen.

The limits of the 2J are a LOT higher than what that supra was running. 2J's are some of the fastest engines designed and are without a shadow of a doubt THE fastest import engine made. Just look up EKanoo, almost all of his cars, including the fastest imports in the world, run 2J's.
Im so upset you guys were in downtown fairborn I live like 15 minutes away from there and all them bad ass cars. I had to turn the video off when I seen the bookery comics place and foys .

if Lutz can consistently run low 6 second passes, why not turn it way up on day 5 and get that first 5 second pass? his car is easily capable of it, so wtf. he better do it before Larry Larson does in his s10 truck or Tom Bailey in his pro mod Camaro. I'm pretty sure Lutz has been in the 5's before at some of his NHRA races.

The efi cars can be detuned to increase mpg while doing the road stages. Similarly you could change the jets in the carby cars. A lot of them run gear venders as well, so the highway rpms are fairly low which helps with mileage.

Drag week? I'm sure you mean tow a trailer week..
they've got restrictions to the trailer size for 1 and 2 if you break something bad and dont make a pass at 1 of the several tracks before the lanes close you are automatically disqualified. so if you melt a piston like Bailey did you're likely never going to make it to the next track and make a pass. then even if you do the more consistent faster driver wins in class. so you could make the fastest run at 1 track but if you make the second fastest at all the others your fastest run probably wont keep you afloat in first place. Larry Larson with his 66 Nova never pulled a trailer because he felt that it wasnt right. which i see why but these are ultimate street cars that could easily break down. he won the title 6 times in a row in the Nova, and when Bailey and a few others brought these fiberglass promods to the game he didnt like the idea but David said rules allowed it so he made his, and his S10 is the quickest and fastest ever street legal car in the world
