THE OHIO PLAYERS IS A GREAT BAND,BUT BEING WITHOUT "SUGARFOOT" BONNER, IT'S NOT THE SAME.SUGAR HAD THAT VOICE THAT WAS COPIED A LOT BUT NOT MATCHED BY ANYBODY.MICHEAL COOPER,LARRY BLACKMON TRIED BUT TO NO MASS.SUGAR WAS A ONE-OF A KIND VOCALIST THAT WE MAY NEVER SEE OR HEAR AGAIN IN THIS LIFETIME.AND TO THINK THAT SUGAR NEVER WANTED TO BE A LEAD SINGER,BUT TURNED OUT TO BE ONE OF THE GREATEST VOCALIST OFF ALL TIME.REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE LEROY"SUGARFOOT" BONNER!!!
i'm old school Ohio players ...having the bass player front and center im not feeling that!! Sugar was the MAN!! And he didn't play Baas!! So seeing this guy up front..not a Original player just feels wrong! if you grew up with this band!! maybe put Chet up front or even Billy Becker!! don't need a fake front man,, just saying!!! i wouldn't pay to see them at this point.
I'm with you 100%, it's not a good look with the bassist center stage. I've never been a fan of bands that hang on and keep recycling members. Once the line up from the hey days, break up, I stop buying tickets with the exception of a slim few. And is that Diamond on the drum kit?
Original members Diamond on drums Billie Beck on keyboards stage right and Chet Willis on guitar sitting. The bass player is Darwin Dortch who has been the band nearly 40 years. He is on the 1988 release "Back". Diamond is the current leader. Sugarfoot was a unique individual and excellent front man before his departure and later passing . However, this is an excellent group of musicians who are carrying on the legacy and I strongly suggest you attend a live show to fully appreciate their talents.@@Bassdrumguitar
I miss the original Band members bigtime. Saw them several times back in the day. ❤

I was a big fan of THE OHIO PLAYERS since I was nine years old I'm still today a big fan even though a few of the original members are no longer here

But sugar foot is dead and ghone
Bad!! No magic, and very little funk😢 Poor arrangements, poor band replacements, and harmonies off key like the woodwind instruments 🤔! Bad.
